Chapter {18}

I lowered my window on the passenger side of the car. Shifting the pistol in my hands and glancing in the side view mirror. They continued to follow us. Our speed increasing with every moment. We dodged cars left and right, sounds of honking and beeping of cars filling the air. The motorcyclist got closer, both of them advancing on either side of our SUV. I narrowed my eyes and then stuck my hand that gripped the pistol out the window, and fired repeatedly when I knew no civilians would be in danger.

The gunshots rang out like echoes in a cave as they managed to dodge my shots. I pulled my hand back for cover and looked at Tyler who was concentrated on the rode. "Be careful, Lily..." he muttered, glancing at me. I looked forward and my eyes widened, I put my hand on top of his on the wheel and swerved us out of the way of oncoming cars.

"Tyler! Eyes. Road. Now." I scolded and let go of his hand,"We are going twenty-five over He speed limit! You do not take your eyes off the road!"

"Sorry!" He spoke out quickly and took control over the vehicle again.

"He always goes over the speed limit." Felix commented with a chuckle.

"No, I don't!" Tyler snapped, still keeping his eyes on the road. "You just think that cause your afraid of going fast speeds!"

"You little twerp! Of course I am! Who isn't? Especially when your driving!" Felix countered just before a bullet connected with the bullet proof glass at the back of the van.

I flinched and glanced in the side view mirror again,"Darn it... now their firing back at us."

"Way to state the obvi-" Felix noted but stopped mid-sentence when I shot him a look.

"There should be two ARs in the back with you Eric, get them out! We need some fire power." I ordered and looked to Liz. "How much longer till the airport?"

"Ten minutes but we have to make a detour because of construction on 21st Street."

I turned back in my seat and let my gaze fall on the side view mirror again. The motorcyclist were just behind our vehicle on either side. Here was my chance. Go for the tires. I shifted in my seat, leaning against the passenger airbag compartment and stuck my head as well as the gun out the window as window blew pass me in the tunnel. My hair blowing everywhere, I fired immediately before I could give them a chance to. Setting my sights on their bike tires as they revved through the tunnel.

My first bullet hit the front tire, immediately deflating the tire. He tumbled with his bike to the ground, the bike slamming into the wall barriers. I could see the van in the distance and frowned before pulling myself back inside.

"One down, two to go." I muttered taking the magazine clip out and filling it with another. I looked back at Eric, and handed Felix my pistol. I took the Assault Rifle Eric handed me and smirked. I climbed out of the window, and grasped the weapon in my left hand while taking hold of the rack on top of the vehicle and climbing up on top of it. I had only five feet of room from the top of our vehicle to the tunnel ceiling.

I glanced around as cars zoomed past us and wind blew wild around me. Putting pressure on my grip, making my knuckles go white just to hold on. It felt like my breathe was stolen with all the pressure of the wind against me. I spotted the other motorcycle on the other side of the vehicle, getting closer to Tyler's window.

I looked through the crosshairs of my rifle, aiming at him. I put my finger to the trigger and fired, the impact shaking my shoulder a little. I watched as the bullet flew through the air and missed him by just a hair. Scraping the top of his helmet. I muttered words beneath my breathe and fired again, this time at his tire. But my shot was messed up when I flinched to the side after he fired his pistol. I nearly gasped in the moment, my heart racing as the blood in my veins pumped. Too close. I glared at him and fired back quickly before he could get another shot.

The bullet sunk into his tired and he crashed into the wall barrier. Our vehicle leaving him in the dust as wind rushed past me and the sounds of screeching tires could be heard. I turned my gaze behind us to the van. It was also coming up on Tyler's side. I took a grenade out of my side clip on my belt and bit the pin off before throwing it. The blast went off right when I closed my eyes and covered my head with my other hand.

The vehicle swerved in the midst of the blast and smoke but came out unscratched. I took aim with the assault rifle and fired at them. Nothing. Not even a scratch on the surface of the vehicle, my bullets just bouncing off. I clenched my fist and hit the top of the SUV in frustration, muttering profanities before carefully climbing back in. Closing the window after I was seated.

"It's bullet proof-and- I don't know! I threw a grenade and not even a scratch!" I snapped frustrated, looking back at everyone.

"We're stuck in a tunnel with a bullet proof, grenade proof, freaking rocket launcher proof van. Remind me who's plan this was?" Felix mouthed sarcastically.

I ran my hand through my hair definitely stressing out. Trying to think of another way around this...

"Around..." I murmured my thoughts aloud.

"What??!" Felix and Liz both questioned at the same time. I smirked to myself and turned my gaze to Tyler.

"Tyler..." I said, and he glanced at me for a spilt second before his eyes went to the road. He nodded,"On it."
