Chapter {15}

"Just answer me this: what are UNIA agents doing trespassing and killing my employees on Legion 66 Operations Center. I thought the Director and I were crystal clear on my terms of 'no interference and we won't make any problems for you' conditions. But here we all are." He frowned and sat forward in the desk chair the thousands of pixels moving and changing when he did on the projector screen.

I rolled my eyes and glanced at Liz and Felix who looked every bit as fed up with this crap as I did. There was a reason we were agents and not business men and women. Nevertheless business and proper approach was not behind our way of thinking so I in turned stepped forward, front and center in front of this man.

"Sir, I assure you those terms would have been applied had you not been working behind our back." I replied nonchalantly.

"I must assure you that I have no earthly idea as to what you would be implying, Miss." He grumbled with the same expression as he shifted and looked me right in the eye.

I watched his movements, his-if he even had any-nervous tension, any indicator that he might be lying, but nothing. No habit of rubbing his fingers together or muscle tension in his face and I swear I was going crazy.

First, Tyler-if it even was Tyler in the vents- and now him. Why do I have this gut feeling to start questioning everything? Ever since we put two and two together with those files we found, things just haven't been adding up, or maybe this was just me...

"No Idea?!" I snapped and uncrossed my arms. "We know you are working with Paramour  behind the UNIA's back, but we've been watching you. We've seen the files, Mr. Fedlock." I retorted in a sharp tone. Without realization I had clenched my fist and narrowed my eyes at the powerful man before me.

I could clearly tell he did not appreciate my tone or accusations I had set on the table before me. Not breaking eye contact, I took a firm step forward. "Furthermore you are trying to begin another World War!" I added making sure not to relay to much information with an enemy about how much we actually knew.

"There hasn't been a World War in years and you and your precious UNIA are insane to think we'd even have the audacity to start the third one." He snapped in a rather calm manner. "I know you stole my files today, Agent, I'm aware you still have possession of them", he glanced at Liz who glanced away and Felix and clenched his teeth, muttering profanities from his lips. "So." He chided with a rather cold smile. "Open them."

None of us moved as silence covered the room, I was almost positive my teammates could hear the fast pace beating of my heart as I watched the man on the screen. Everything he says his a lie. He's the enemy, Lily. He's going to get in your head if you don't block him out fast. As soon as I had thought it my forehead as filled with perspiration as I started to get a lighted feeling and shifted on my feet--

][

"She's your mistake! She's only a burden to me! You both are! Get out of here before I get rid of that child myself!"

Tears welled in my eyes as my mother quickly got me out of his sight.

][

"Mommy, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to be a burden." I cried as my mother tucked me in, a light from my night light illuminating the room as I looked into her bloodshot bruised eyes.

"Oh Sweetheart-" I cut her off  as I sat up. "Mommy, am I a mistake?" I asked as if I desperately needed to know.

"Lily, no... you're my perfect babygirl. I wouldn't change a thing about you." She replied softly as she brushed through my hair. "Don't let him get in your head. There will be people in the world that will try and bring you down to dust. You've got to block them out first."

][

Just as fast as I had paced out I was brought back to reality by a firm grip on my arm as I turned my head to look at Felix who looked genuinely concerned and then remembered the conversation I was in and looked back at the projector only to watch as it went black, the colorful pixels that made up the director of Legion 66 disappeared just as fast as they had come, leaving no trace of evidence.

Nothing. Absolute silence filled the room.

My eyes widened in shock almost as I looked around and my eyes darted to Liz who had gotten up from the chair she was sitting in early.

"What happened?" She immediately asked as she looked around confused.

"Tyler." Me and felix said in unison with the faintest smirk on our lips.

][

I jumped out of the vent and rolled as gracefully as possible on the marble floor. Eric jumping right behind me and then proceeding to close the vent. I grinned at him as he turned around.

"Well that went more smoothly then I had thought it would-then again by now I would have thought one of us would have died at least once by now." I shrugged only to be greeted by a frown.

"This way Tyler, the door on the right." He said flatly.

I nodded, diving back into the serious mode we needed I knelt down next to the door looking at the doorknob. "It's locked..." I murmured only to here the sarcastic reply Eric gave.

"Well that's a given."

"Should I pick it?"

"Do we really have that much time, Tyler?" He eyed me.

I thought for a second and then stood up, taking a few steps back. "Right..." I took out my Glock and aimed it at the doorknob and the lock then fired.

The doorknob smoked from the impact of the bullet and a hole went through the lock of the door. I calmly pushed the door open with my boot. I smiled when I caught a glimpse of Lily and then Liz and Felix.

Lily grinned at me and I for some reason couldn't help but admire her. One Day...

"Took you long enough." She commented.
