Contracts

Law looks between you and Smoker, swallowing a bit. He'd never seen anything more ferocious before, a white tiger ripping into someone like that. Luckily, you had turned back. "___..." He speaks up lightly. You flinch at his voice, blinking and looking over at him.

"I..." Looking at the ground, you feel tears well up again. "I don't know what to do now..." You murmur.

"I know..." Law looks down at Smoker again, the silver haired man was probably the closest thing he had to a best friend. Law knew medicine, but he couldn't do anything for a blow to a heart. Past repair, only something powerful and that can move between worlds could... "Restore..."

"Hmm?" You look up at him furrowing your eyebrows a bit. "What did you say?"

"Well... From what I've heard... Beings that can move between planes can bring back the dead... But the cost is usually extreme..." He meets your gaze. Your eyes widen, looking down at Smoker.

"I don't care what the price is. I want him back...what sort of being could do that?"

"Demons... Angels, Reapers... Demons usually though.

"Demon..." You mumble, "We stumbled upon one a few days ago...I wonder if I could find him again."

"I passed a crossroads before I found you, if you know the demon's name then they'll show up." He stands up, "I'll carry him." He adds.

"O-okay." You nod, scrambling to your feet. "How far is it? How long do you think it will take to get there?"

"Ten minutes maybe." He breathes picking up Smoker carefully. "This way." He adds, leading the way. You follow after him, wiping at the dried tears on your face in frustration. A small amount of hope had started to nuzzle its way into your chest, but you snuffed it out. There was no telling what the cost would be or if you'd even have anything to exchange. Ten minutes pass and you both stop at the crossroads. "Alright... call to him." He breathes setting Smoker down.

You take a deep breath.

"Mihawk! I'd like to make a deal!" You say loudly, wringing your fingers together anxiously.

"Hello," He hums, suddenly standing in front of you. "We meet again."

"That we do." You nod, chewing in your lip lightly and glancing at Smoker. "I...I want you to bring him back. Please...I'll do anything. Give you whatever I have." He peers at Smoker briefly.

"I may be able to help, but first, I must ask again... What belongs to you?" You frown, about to object, but think it over.

"He belongs to me." You tell him, looking directly into his eyes. "He is mine, the only thing that is mine that I care about, and I want him back." He blinks before nodding.

"Very well, anything else?" He inquires. You look down, sighing lightly.

"What about my brother? Could you bring him back too?" He hums.

"If he is like you...I cannot." He answers lightly.

"You can't bring back people who aren't completely human?" You question.

"Thing is, human souls are the only ones that can cross the threshold twice." He frowns, "Others can only pass through once safely. Making them cross the threshold again will do more damage than good."

"I see..." You say quietly, looking up at him again. "Then that's all. Please...bring Smoker back."

"You owe me ___." He says before disappearing again. You hear a heavy intake of breath and coughing.

"Smoker." Law breathes in relief. You turn quickly, running over to the man's side and kneeling next to him.

"Smoker...are you really back..." He coughs again, sitting up and rubbing his chest, seeming dazed.

"I want... To go home..." He murmurs weakly.

"But Smoker... You don't have one..." Law frowns softly. The hunter shakes head, leaning into you, head resting against your chest.

"It's here..." He murmurs, closing his eyes. You choke out a sound somewhere between a sob and a laugh, wrapping your arms around him, trying not to squeeze too tightly.

"Oh thank god you're back." He hums in response, not moving much.

"He must be recovering still, we should find a place to rest."

"Yeah. Come on." You murmur, standing and attempting to help Smoker to his feet. "Let's get you somewhere safe." Law helps you stand him up, Smoker staggers a bit.

"Where to?" Law asks you.

"I think...there should be a little town. Maybe a mile or so that way?" You frown a bit, furrowing your eyebrows. "We could go there...or see if we can find a clearing to rest in."

"I have an idea, I can't stay out long, it's almost dawn, but I'll be right back and uh... keep taking in deep breaths." He says, picking up Smoker again and suddenly disappearing.

"Um...okay." You murmur to the empty space where Law had been looking around in slight confusion. A few moments later, everything blurs and you're suddenly in front of a toilet.

You cough, your head spinning.

"Oh wow...that was fast...where are we?" You ask, looking around slowly and trying not to get sick from the spinning in your head.

"Stay still for a bit, we're in a hotel," Law tells you from another room.

"O-okay." You murmur, sitting down slowly and leaning against the wall. "You brought Smoker here too? Did he get all spinny headed?"

"Well, he's in a daze so he's fine." He answers, coming back in and offering you some water. "Wash up once everything settles."

"Okay. Thank you." You nod, taking the water and sipping on it slowly. After your head clears you stand up, realizing what he had meant by wash up. You were absolutely covered in the other hunter's blood. Sighing, you shut the bathroom door, stripping down and showering quickly, trying to get every speck of blood washed from your skin. Once you're done, you pull a clean set of clothes from your bag, balling the others up and shoving them in a trash bag. Going into the other room, you set your bag on the table, sitting down on the bed. "I feel better..."

"That's good, he's still recovering though." Law sat in the empty closet, though the window shades were down, making the room almost cave like. Smoker hums, sitting on the bed, and taking apart a pen.

"I see that..." You frown a little, watching him pull the pieces of the pen apart. Crawling up the bed, you lay down next to him. "So long as he is back...I'm happy." Smoker stops, his attention drawn to you.

"Who..." He murmurs seeming curious.

"What?" You blink, sitting up slightly. "Are you asking who I am? Or who I'm happy is back?"

"Who... Are you..." He breathes. Your freeze in shock.

"You...you don't recognize me..." Your voice shakes as you sit up again. "Not at all? You don't remember me?"

"Easy ___, it's part of the recovery." Law says. Smoker looks toward the closet in brief confusion.

"... ___..." He echoes. "___..." His brows furrow as he blinks, gaze dropping.

"What...what if he doesn't remember me." You murmur, watching Smoker with a small worried frown.

"I... He'll remember you, just keep his attention." Law tells you.

"How do I do that?" You sigh, pulling the broken apart pen from between his fingers so he wouldn't get ink everywhere. Smoker blinks again, watching the motion before peering at your face, tipping your chin up. "Smile.... You're strong." He murmurs.

"Only because of you." You hum, giving him a small smile and setting the pen on the table. "So you have to get better okay?" He blinks and frowns lightly.

"Okay..." He murmurs, before laying down next to you. You watch him for a few seconds, scooting up the bed to lean against the headboard.

"Get some sleep." You tell him, running your fingers through his hair as you hum a random tune quietly. He nods, moving his head onto your lap and soon falling asleep. You smile down at him for a little while, continuing to run your fingers through his hair until you yawn. Leaning your head against the wall, you shut your eyes, your last thought before drifting off being of Smoker and hoping that he would remember you once he woke up.

He sits up with a start, looking around in alarm, checking his own pulse. "What..." He murmurs. You yawn, only half waking up from the movement.

"You're okay..." You murmur, rubbing his arm.

"___... How am I alive?" He questions carefully.

"Recovery is over." Law comments.

"The hell are you doing in the closet?"

"Hiding from the sun." Law answers as if it were a dumb question to be asked.

"Mihawk." You hum, stretching, your back aching from the position you had fallen asleep in. "I'm so happy you remember me now..." Smoker stops.

"I'm gonna kill him. Where're my guns?" He growls, searching around swiftly.

"Wait what?" You stand from the bed in confusion, grabbing his arm. "Why would you do that? He brought you back."

"Demons bringing back me only means more trouble for you." He grumbles.

"It's okay. I don't care." You frown, wrapping your arms around him. He pauses, looking at you.

"... What did he want from you?" He murmurs.

"He didn't tell me. Just said that I owed him and disappeared." You tell him with a small shrug. He relaxes before hugging you close, nuzzling your neck.

"Thank God..." He mutters. You smile a little, burying your face in his chest.

"I'm so happy you're back..."

"No more running away without me..." He sways with you slightly

"Of course. I'm not going anywhere." You hum, pulling back to look up at him. "You're stuck with me."

"Heh, sounds good to me." He rumbles. The closet door shuts at that, making you both look over.

"Now I'm hiding from the fluff..." You hear Law mutter.

"Sorry!" You giggle, wrapping your arms tightly around Smoker again. "You scared the hell out of me you know? First you die. Then you come back and don't know who I am. Had me thrown for a loop."

"Even if I did... I wouldn't have a problem falling for you again..." He scoffs, looking to the side with a blush.

"Really? Again?" You smile brightly hooking a finger under his chin to make him look at you. "So am I right to assume that you already have once?" He blushes more, meeting your gaze.

"Yes. I'm in love with you."

"Good." You smile, pulling him down into a kiss. He chuckles lightly, kissing you back.

"Now, let's go out to breakfast so I don't have to pretend that there isn't a vampire hiding in the closet."

".... I'm going to bite you both and SHOW you why I'm in here." Law warns through the door. You giggle, looking over at the closet before nodding to Smoker.

"Okay. Sounds good. You still gunna be in there when we get back?"

"... Probably, I lost my umbrella..." Law sighs.

"I'll find you a new one while we're out." Smoker tells him.

"Thank you... I want a black one." The vampire grumbles.

"See you later Law! And thank you again!" You call as you and Smoker leave the room. Lacing your fingers through his, you smile happily. "Where do you want to get breakfast?"

"Wherever you want is fine," He breathes, pink still dusting his cheeks.

"If you say so." You hum. Thinking for a few seconds, your eyes go to the ground, frowning slightly. "I'm sorry that I ran away..." He blinks and lets go of your hand, wrapping his arm around you instead.

"I had a feeling you would do that... But, I didn't know how to keep it from happening."

"I was just so scared of hurting anyone else..." You murmur, leaning your head against him. "I couldn't live with myself if I did..." He rubs your arm.

"I know... But I didn't want to leave you alone... Trouble finds you so damn much." He sighs.

"Yeah..it really does." You chuckle, smiling up at him. "It like I'm a magnet for it." He smiles and hugs you, kissing your cheek.

"I'll keep the trouble at bay." He chuckles lightly You giggle happily.

"Good." Looking around, you point to a little donut shop. "How about donuts for breakfast?"

"Sounds really good... I don't remember eating before I died..." He murmurs. "There's a lot of fog left..."

"Yeah then you should eat." You hum, pulling him across the street and into the donut shop eyes happily scanning the display case full of colorful donuts.

"There's too many..." He murmurs, looking a bit overwhelmed. "What kind do you want?"

"Chocolate." You smile, pointing to a simple chocolate covered donut.

"Chocolate sounds good.. Let's get those." He hums with a nod.

"Can I get a half dozen of these?" You ask the woman behind the counter, pointing to the chocolate covered donuts in the case. She nods, getting a small box and adding the donuts to it.

Smoker straightens, rubbing his cheek and looking around.

"Is there a place where we can find umbrellas nearby?" He asks The lady behind the counter looks up with a small smile.

"A few buildings over there is a general store. Should be able to find one there."

"Thank you..." He says, seeming in a daze again. You look over at him, tilting your head slightly.

"Are you feeling okay? Need to sit down or anything?"

"Yeah... Sitting sounds good...." He murmurs.

"Is something wrong?" You ask, a worried frown coming to your lips as you lead him over to a small table, sitting down with him.

"I'm not sure, feels like everything is getting fuzzy inside... must be a side effect."

"I hope so..." You sigh, watching him. "Maybe you just need some more rest. Once you're feeling a little better let's head back to the hotel."

"Alright... Let me have one of those donuts." He hums. You nod, opening the box and handing him one, taking one for yourself as well. The two of you eat quietly, you smiling a little at how good the donut was. He relaxes eating a bit.

"Maybe my soul needs to remember we're back and not somewhere else." He murmurs mostly to himself.

"Somewhere else?" You hum, looking at him and tilting your head. "What do you mean?"

"I'm not sure, that's the only explanation I can get to. My soul is readjusting." He shrugs.

"I see." You nod, wiping chocolate from your fingers. "I'm curious...if you don't mind me asking...what was is like? Dying?"

"It.. Felt weird, like falling asleep but something grabs your chest and lifts you up... There was darkness, voices.... Then light for a moment, then I was back, and my mind was... Gone I guess, like it was numb..."

"That sounds sort of hectic I guess." You say, leaning on the table. "At least...it doesn't sound scary."

"Well, I don't think I got to where I was supposed to go so, can't say for sure." He shrugs. "But I felt like I had no control of what was happening. And you know how that feels..."

"Yeah....it's not a good feeling..." You mumble. "Come on, let's get you back to the hotel so you can get some rest. Hopefully it will help."

"Still need to get that odd guy an umbrella, and this helps." He says getting up after finishing his donut.

"Right. Well, I can go inside and grab one really fast." You tell him, picking up the box of leftover donuts. "Hopefully they have a black one...."

"If not, make it pink so we can see his reaction." He smirks a bit, a slight mischievous look on his face.

"I like that idea." You giggle, starting to head to the store the lady had told you about. "Pink and polka dotted."

"Even better." He chuckles lightly.

"Good thing he likes us." You smile a little, stepping into the small store.

"He's going to question why if we can't find black." He says looking around thoughtfully.

"True." You chuckle, walking through the store and looking for the umbrellas. A small rack of them leaned against the wall making you smile a bit as you find a yellow and black one. "How about this. There aren't any solid black ones?"

"That'll do, I have seen him wearing yellow before." He nods. "Good eye."

"Alright." You nod, taking the umbrella up to the counter and paying for it. "Anything else before we leave?"

"Should be good." He says, fumbling through his pants and pulling out his wallet, pausing as the cashier looks at his shirt in slight alarm. You tilt your head at her, raising an eyebrow.

"Something wrong?" You question the cashier.

"Um... A-Are you okay sir?" He asks Smoker. The hunter looks at him in confusion before looking down at his clothes he still wore from the day before. "Oh... It's... A fashion statement." Smoker assures the concerned cashier. Your eyes widen a bit, realizing the large hole in his shirt surrounded by blood.

"Whoops..." You mumble, rubbing the back of your neck a bit. "Forgot about that." Smoker quickly pays before heading out with you.

"Well... Guess neither of us have fully recovered." He rubs his neck.

"I was uh...sorta distracted by the fact that you were alive and what not. Didn't even think to change the clothes you were in...."

"... That would've been awkward for you, so it's fine. " He shrugs slightly.

"Heh yeah probably..." You say, a light blush covering your cheeks. "Could have asked Law to do it though..."

"... Don't ever do that, we already have an odd relationship let's not make it weirder..." He sighs. You laugh at that.

"Alright. From now on I'll just pay more attention. Hopefully we don't ever have this sort of problem again though..."

"Yeah... Luckily the cops haven't gone by while we've been out." He chuckles.

"Very true...." You nod, taking his hand. "If they do we can um...say it's a costume for a party or something..."

"That might work." He nods, leaning into you slightly.

"Mhmm." The two of you get back to the hotel without running into any problems. "Got you an umbrella!" You call to Law, wondering if he was still hiding in the closet.

"I'm hiding in the tub now," He responds.

"... Get out of there, I'm not taking a shower with you in there." Smoker tells him.

"... I just got comfortable..." The vampire grumbles, coming out with a bunch of pillows. Smoker deadpans after him.

"I'm going to take shower before I smother him with one of those pillows." He kisses you before grabbing his bag and disappearing into the bathroom. You smile after him, before showing Law the umbrella.

"They didn't have an all black one so we got this one." He blinks and takes it.

"I like it, thanks..." He hums thoughtfully, "Once the sun starts to go down I'll go, then you two can relax a bit more."

"Where are you going to go?" You ask, sitting down on the bed, pulling your legs under you.

"I have things to do." He shrugs. "Get my plan set up."

"Oh right." You nod a bit. "Still plan on taking down the one who changed you?"

"Yeah. That's the one." He offers a slight smile. "He's been around a while so it's going to take a lot."

"I see..." You hum, collapsing backward onto the bed. "Do you think you'll be able to do it?"

"I'll die trying." He answers simply. You frown a bit, but nod.

"Hopefully that isn't how it ends up."

"Hopefully." He agrees before peering at you. "Get some more rest," He advises.

"That's probably a good idea." You nod, a small yawn escaping your lips.

"Sleep well..." He breathes.

"Thanks..." You hum, curling up in the blankets on the bed and drifting off in a light sleep. Smoker soon comes out, blinking down at you before smiling softly and climbing onto the bed with you.You wake up slightly, rolling over to curl up against him with a small smile. Murmuring something unintelligible before falling back asleep. He smiles more, nuzzling your hair and holding you warmly, soon drifting off with you.

You didn't know how long you had been asleep when you finally wake up again. Yawning, you sit up, stretching and trying not to wake Smoker who was still asleep next to you. By now Law was gone, night had settled in the window, and yet, it felt like another was in the hotel room.

Frowning a bit you look around in the darkness of the room, trying to figure out why you felt that way. Slipping from the bed, you turn on one of the lamps, jumping in shock at the man sitting in one of the chairs in the room.

"Sorry I startled you, I was expecting your nose to be more keen." Mihawk hums, sipping at his glass of wine and looking over a magazine.

"I uh...it's okay." You say, shaking your head a bit. "What are you doing here though?"

"To discuss your favor to me." He hums, peering at Smoker who suddenly had a gun on him. "Nice to see your reflexes have recovered." Looking over, you put a hand on Smoker's arm.

"It's okay." You tell him, putting pressure on his arm so he'd lower the gun. "What sort of favor?" Smoker relaxes, still glaring at the demon.

"Someone has been killing off my contracts, which means I haven't gotten any souls. I'm not happy about it. So you kill it and we'll be square."

"That sounds...a little easier than I thought. Well depending on what it is that's killing your contracts that is." You hum, sitting down on the bed. "Do you have any leads of any kind.

"Not really, their path of killing is erratic to say the least, but the marks tell me it may be human, perhaps another hunter." He shrugs.

"Oh. Interesting." You say, furrowing your eyebrows. "I guess we have our work cut out for us then..."

"Indeed, here's the information on the last one killed, perhaps you'll find something there." He taps on a folder on the table. "Good hunting." He adds before disappearing. You look at the spot where he had disappeared for a few seconds before sighing.

"Well, I guess let's figure out where we are going next then..." Picking up the folder you flip through it, holding it so Smoker could see it too. He looks it over with a hum. "I know the town, it's east of here, and close." He murmurs.

"Should we head there now? Get an early start. The faster we get there the more likely that the person doing this is still there."

"Yeah, let's get this over with quickly." He says, getting up and stretching.

"Feeling any better?" You ask him, a small frown coming to your lips. "I'm sure this can wait a little bit if you aren't."

"I'll be fine, I feel better now." He rumbles lightly, offering a small smile

"Okay." You hum, a small frown still pulling at your lips worriedly as you grabbed your bag. He stops you, tilting your chin to give you a kiss.

"I'll be fine. We'll take a car if it helps you feel better." You smile into the kiss giving a small nod.

"It would yes. Are you going to steal a car again?"

"Yes, I never can find anything I want if I have to pay for the damn thing." He grumbles starting to pack. You giggle.

"Seems like I am a magnet for trouble."

"... Yeah, if I can be trouble, and I damn sure like you." He pecks your cheek.

"You better." You hum, a bright smile on your face as you look around the room. "Got everything?"

"I think so..." He frowns looking around. "I don't know if we left anything behind at least."

"I don't think so." You shrug. "Come on. Let's go find a car." He nods and you both head out, browsing the cars in the parking lot. You stop, finding one with the window slightly rolled down. Going over to it, you reach your hand through, unlocking it and opening the door.

"This look okay?"

"It'll do." He shrugs, peering in carefully. "You drive." He adds lightly.

"Okay." You nod, tossing your bag in the backseat and sliding into the driver seat. Opening the glove box you chuckle. "Man these people are stupid." You hum taking a spare key and starting the car. He settles in the passenger seat, looking around carefully as he buckles up.

"Go right when we get out of the parking lot, take it out of town."

"Alright." You nod, turning on the car and taking his directions. He watches you for a bit,

"Alright Beautiful, take the first exit you see, and we'll be in town, but that's a bit." You smile reaching over to lace your fingers through his over the console. He smiles lightly, looking ahead with his amber eyes trained on the road. You turn on the radio, humming along to what was playing.

When you come to the exit, you turn off, the city starting to come into view. Smoker hums, going over the folder. "Find a clothing store, we're gonna need to look official if we're going to be asking around."

"Alright." You nod, eyes scanning stores beside the highway before you pulled into a parking lot. "This place should have something."

"Alright, let's dress for the part and then go see what the police have found." He breathes getting out. You follow him into the clothing store, flipping through a few racks until you find something you like. Taking it into a fitting room you try it on tilting your head at yourself in the mirror before opening the door and spotting Smoker. "This okay?"

He looks you over before offering a nod and disappearing into a fitting room as well, soon coming back out in a suit.

"Tight, but it'll do." He sighs.

"I like it..." You hum, looking over him appreciatively. "You look good in a suit." He chuckles lightly looking away.

"Alright let's buy these and get going."

"Alright." You smile a bit, changing back to your other clothes and taking the new ones to the register to pay for them. He does the same, coming to your side trying to pay for everything again. You chuckle, pushing his wallet away.

"At least let me get this." You tell him. "I can't let you pay for everything all the time."

"Alright, alright." He chuckles lightly, kissing your cheek lightly. You smile, paying for the clothes as the cashier bags them handing the bag over to you. Linking your hand with Smoker's you lean against him, starting back to the parking lot. "Now to find a place to change really quick."

"A gas station?" He suggests awkwardly.

"That's fine with me." You shrug, getting into the car and setting the bag in the backseat. He does the same.

"I saw one back that way, then the station should be over there." He hums

"Alright." You nod, starting the car and heading in the direction of the gas station. It was a small place, but it would work well enough to change in. Taking the bag inside, you go to the bathroom, changing quickly and fixing your hair to look a little nicer. You toss your other clothes in the bag, going outside to wait for Smoker to join you. He soon comes out, lighting a cigar and looking great, he checks his fake badge with a frown.

"Alright... Let's go see what they got on our vic, once we find out the where, we can check surveillance and find our man... Then tracking him down." You nod looking him over with a small smile. Taking the cigar from between his lips you pull him into a kiss before handing it back to him.

"Sorry. I just couldn't resist." You hum, turning and heading back to the car. He blinks after you, blush kissing his cheeks, he mutters something before following after you. Getting in the car, you wait for Smoker to join you before heading for the police station. Once you get there you chew on your lip anxiously. "Really think they will believe that we are here to investigate?"

"Follow my lead, and listen this time." He says, "You don't have to talk unless you think of something I don't." He assures, "Keep your chin up, you're strong." He smiles.

"Okay." You nod, giving him a small smile. "Let's get this over with." He nods before getting out and leading you in. Luckily the police didn't question Smoker, he did look like he belonged there after all. He covered most of the questions briskly. Who, what, when, where.

Heading out of the station, you sigh. "Well I guess that gets us some sort of lead." You say, climbing into the car and leaning your head against the seat in thought.

"To the gas station then, maybe the suspect went in before heading past the pawnshop. It's a small town so if the cashier doesn't recognize them then we got him." He rumbles.

"Right." You nod, starting the car and heading to another small gas station a few miles away.

"Definitely a hunter... I don't want to have to fight another..." He sighs lightly.

"I don't want you to either..." You frown, reaching over to thread your fingers with his. He looks over at you, leaning over and kissing your cheek.

"After this. Let's go on vacation."

"I like the sound of that. Is there anywhere you would like to go?"

"Not sure... Any place you've never been?" He asks you.

"There are lots of places I've never been...but how about the Bahamas?" You ask, a small smile on your face.

"I can get us there... Going to have to make you a fake id first though." He nods thoughtfully.

"That's probably a good idea." You laugh a little squeezing his hand lightly. Soon you pull up to the gas station and he leads you in, using his badge to get you both into the back room to review surveillance on the day of the contract's death. The two of you watch the tapes until you tilt your head, pausing the video on a green haired man that seemed to be lost. "What about him?"

"Oh.. Huh... I don't remember that guy, he's a new face..." The cashier hums. "Must be him then." Smoker nods, "Good eye."

"He just looks confused. Like this wasn't where he was headed." You shrug.

"... Lost maybe? That could make it easy, he could still be close by." Smoker straightens up.

"Hopefully." You nod, chewing on your lip, trying to memorize the face. "I wonder...let's go." He leads you back out, laying the map out on the car hood.

"Alright, after he left here, the man was murdered here..." He mutters.

"It's almost like he is just wandering around..." You mumble, eyes trailing over the map. "I wonder if Mihawk has any other contracts in this area. If he does, I would assume the next closest would be the next one that the man would go after..."

"... To the crossroads." He sighs. "Damn demons..." He grumbles, pouting slightly.

"That damn demon brought you back to me." You hum, giving him a small smile. "Don't be too upset with him."

"I know I know..." He sighs. You chuckle, leaning up to kiss him.

"Come on. Let's find Mihawk so we can ask about the contacts. Faster we get this over with, the faster we can go on vacation."

"Let's go then." He smiles. You smile, sliding into the car.

"Wonder where we can find a crossroads here that isn't a highway intersection..."

"There's one... just out of town," He says, getting in with you.

"Alright." You nod, following his directions until you sat just on the edge of town. "Well then...let's summon a demon."

"Yep." Smoker gets out, "Hey Mihawk..." He calls out, but nothing comes. You frown a bit.

"Mihawk! We had a question!" You call looking around again.

"Yes?" The demon hums, suddenly there. Smoker glowers at him at that.

"We were wondering if you had any more contracts in this area?" You ask. "Even though he isn't following a pattern of any sort, it's safe to assume that he would go after the next closest target."

"Hmm... Here, you may borrow my map, it shows my contracts." He holds it out to you.

"Thank you." You smile a bit, taking the map from him. "I'll give it back once we figure this out."

"Alright." He nods, glancing at Smoker who comes over to look at the map with you. "Any hunches?" The hunter asks you. You look over the map, pointing at one of the people marked on it.

"This one seems like a safe bet. It's not a direct line from the last one so it fits his chaotic pattern, but it's also still in the area."

"Then let's go." He kisses your cheek before going back to the car. You smile a bit, waving at Mihawk.

"We will find you again soon." You tell the demon, sliding into the car and heading off for the next contract.

"He has plenty, I don't see why he's so concerned." Smoker comments, looking over the map.

"Who knows. Maybe it's a possessive thing. Like those are his souls and someone is taking them so it's irritating...." You say.

"Sounds like a demon." He nods thoughtfully.

"Mhmm." You nod, pulling up to a small store. "Well, I guess this is where the contract works. I wonder if the hunter is already here..."

"Let's go see, if not, we'll follow." He shrugs getting out. You nod, following after him into the store, pausing when you hear someone yelling. A short dark haired man was yelling at a green haired man that looked increasingly annoyed. You nudge Smoker in the side.

"I think that's him."

"Alright." He says, going over and putting the green haired man in a headlock before dragging him past. "Sir, we need to speak with you." He states. You watch him drag the struggling man from the store without a problem, following after them both after giving the small store clerk a short apology for the chaos.

"What the hell is up with people these days! Let me go!" The greenette snaps in growing annoyance.

"Calm down. You're the one going around killing people." You huff lightly once the three of you were outside.

"What? They attacked me!" He growls. Smoker releases him at that.

"So you didn't know they were a demon's contracts." Smoker says doubtfully.

".... What the hell are you talking about?"
