Falak laughed so hard, clutching her stomach for emphasis. She is sitting in her dorm, trying to read for her exams when her friend, Nevedita walked in telling her how much she embarrassed herself in front of her crush after he asked her out, it was totally cliché and hilarious, she was in great merriment.
So when he asked her on the date just a few minutes ago outside their hostel, she freaked out and ran straight to the lobby where she bumped into another man, she hastily apologized and then she ran back to Falak's dorm where she is telling her what just happened between her and Amrit, the crush and the most handsome man Falak has ever seen in her whole life, not even the princes could compare.
"What should I do? I don't even have his number, it was so embarrassing. Can I even look at him?" The short brunette threw the questions at a still laughing Falak looking confused, muddled, distressed and pained.
Nevedita is the first friend Falak made in the hostel the week she arrived. Nevedita has long dark hair that reached her waist and Falak envied that so much, all the girls in India seems like they don't like the long hair they have when back in Nigeria people are looking at her lower back length hair as if she came from another universe.
Nevedita was very kind and showed Falak everything there is that she needs to know but she was disappointed when she told her that she is specializing in Cardiology which made her remember a certain Cardiologist. They clicked together, though Nevedita is more quite and mature and that is because she is older than Falak with a year.
"You can ask someone for his number and then call him, apologize and accept his postulation" Falak answered, looking into her friend's big brown eyes that lit up with excitement after her reply.
"That's what I'm going to do, thank you so much. I'll just be in my room, I'll tell you what happens after this." And she ran out probably to hers to do what Falak advised her to.
Falak sighed and dropped her book back on her bed, looking around her room for the last ten months. The twin bed has a comfortable mattress and colourful bedsheets, a wardrobe is pushed to the side and her two suitcases by the side of it. There is also a desk where she has huge textbooks and notes with a tall lamp that helps her study at night when she doesn't want to on the lights in the room.
Her rows of shoes sat by the door, mostly slippers and boots because winter in India is no where near the one back in Nigeria, it is icy. Her mother sent a lot of cardigans for her which she finds funny, she could just buy some here herself or they ask Samir to buy it for her like they usually do.
Samir is another cousin of theirs that lives in India and is also a professor in her school. She crushed on him the first time she saw him at the airport but it vanished when he told her that he is married with a son. He is taller than Shaddad and has lighter colour tone than Shaddad's, his beard trimmed which Shaddad lacks because he shaves it. All in all, he is handsomer than her Shaddad.
His wife, Jawahir is a Pakistani, very beautiful and kind which caused everything to be hard on Falak. She was disappointed in herself that she crushed on the woman's husband because of how nice she is to her. She asked her to visit whenever she feels like eating something homemade. She once lived in Nigeria after marrying Samir and that is why she knew how to cook Nigerian food.
Their son, Mahir is the sweetest child she's ever met. He is cute and likes calling her da-da. When she first visited, he couldn't stop calling her da-da because he can't talk and now that he can, he still won't stop calling her that and she doesn't mind. He takes away all the stress that she feels after writing an exam and is looking forward to seeing him after finishing her exams.
She remembered her flight to India. All the Princes accompanied her as promised except for the Oblivious one who doesn't know what was going on around the palace till when he gets to the hospital and didn't find Harith, Masrooq and his step mother. They called and told him that they are at the airport waiting for Falak to board her flight to India.
To say he was shocked would've been an understatement. He never thought she would go through with that stupid challenge but then again, he should not underestimate Falak, she always surprises him. He brushed the thought off and say it was for the best since he won't have her on his back again.
Deep down, he knows that he is going to miss her. Even after she stopped talking to him, he knew she's grown in on him. He's used to having her talking unnecessarily and then saying her mind without knowing it. She can talk for the whole house and will still not get tired, he really missed her but with time, she slipped to the back of his head till when they talk about her around the table.
When she sat down in the flight, she was grateful for the man next to her. Instead of her to sit somewhere not close to the window, she sat down close to it because she 'wants to see the cloud and feel it' and so they let her. When the flight started taking off, she paled and the man gave her a polyester black emergency leather so she could throw up inside and she did.
She vowed not to go on the plane again and rather she walk for years and go back home. She had a lot of nightmares because of that plane and stopped thinking about it till now since it's almost time to go back to Nigeria.
"Hey, can you borrow me that your blue boots. I've got a hot date with my hubby." Heer walked into her room like she always do.
"Aw, this your hubby likes taking you on dates. You can take it!" Falak repeated the words she says whenever she wants to borrow her stuff. Falak finds it weird that she borrows something from her at first but then found out that she doesn't like bringing back her stuff.
"I know right, bye." And she left with the shoes in her hands. They don't have the best friendship between them and only talk to each other when Heer needed something from her.
She sighed and bring out her laptop to give Jaiyana a call. Whenever she's going to call then, she likes calling Jaiyana first because she is the one with problem that they need to tackle. Huzaif is too headstrong and whatever she says to him doesn't work but she has another plan up her sleeve, that is when she gets to Nigeria in a month.
"Hello, my Bambi. How are you there?" Jaiyana is trying to smile whenever she calls and Jabrayah told her that she is slowly slipping into depression.
"I'm fine here, bambina. How are you with that grumpy lawyer?" Falak fisted her hands and rest her head in between, lying herself back on her bed and then raising her legs up above whilst playing around with it.
She is wearing one of her pink favorite sweater, a beanie and black leggings since it's weekend.
"We are all fine here. I see you'll be back in a month huh?" Clearly, she doesn't want to talk about Huzaif, and that only shows how much problem they still have.
"Yes, I'm about to start my exams and around July, before Ramadhan inshaa'Allah. I really can't wait to come back home and go to my village, I miss the people there." She whined, before jumping after seeing Huzaif passing behind Jaiyana with a scowl.
"Grumpy lawyer!" She screamed, making Jaiyana wince because of how loud her voice was and because she doesn't want Huzaif to lean into her, it makes her immobile.
"Stop calling me that. How are you?" He grumbled out, though he wants to smile, he doesn't want to give Jaiyana the satisfaction of seeing his smile.
"I'm so fine here. I wanted to come back and meet my little nephew or niece but I don't see that happening anytime soon." She grumbled the other words underneath her breath, clearly frustrated at him for acting so nonchalantly to his own wife.
"I'll talk to you later." He sternly said, his eyes giving her a message that he will call and she better pick his call.
She doesn't pick up his calls because she thought he's the reason behind his wife's depression. The worst part is that Jaiyana is already in love with him, even with his cold behaviour towards her and lack of words from him to her. Somehow, even his presence engulf her like a warm cloak she never wants to throw away even if it will be tattered.

Yoyoyoyo!
How are y'all doing? I promised to update earlier but look who updated after more days than intended, yeah, me and I'm sorry. Anyways, who is seeing Shaddad up there missing Falak? Hahaha, this is just the start mister!
RQ; Would rather sell all your possessions or sell one of your organs? Well, I'd rather sell one of my organs because those possessions are history and have lots of memories😂
