Chapter 4 - Tension

Jessie grabbed some tissues from the bedside table and passed it to Riley, silently accepting it as he wiped himself clean.

Tossed in the bin with the used condom, a pleased exhale was let out from Riley's mouth as he grinned while looking at Jessie. "Good thing hooking up with those guys at the party fell through, huh?"

Jessie silently agreed in his head, not wanting to boost Riley's ego anymore than it was now. "What time is it?"

"A little after midnight." Riley told him, "Your brother should be back soon though."

Jessie nodded as he realised Cameron could come back any minute, and see him all sexed up with his roommate. The last thing he wanted to was for anyone to know about them to.

"Shit..." Jessie groaned as he sat up from the bed, flinching as his ass became inflicted with a mild sense of pain.

Riley scolded Jessie as he warned him he should have slowed down a bit, so that he could be prepped properly.

"You wanted to take it slow?" Jessie mocked, the one thing that made their sex compatible was how they were both eager and enthusiastic with their lovers.

"Believe it or not, it's not as fun when you're in pain like that."

Jessie quickly got off the bed and started to put his jeans on. "I'm used to it by now." Jessie responded truthfully. "Where's my shirt?"

Riley looked around the room and saw it on the floor right next to him. He leaned off the bed and tossed it to Jessie, making no attempts to get out of bed.

This was the routine they had been used to for months. Once the deal was done and they both hit their orgasm, one of them had to do the walk of shame home.

Neither of them would ever let the other person sleep over, heck they never even shared the bed 20 minutes after having sex. It was a silent condition they both came to terms with, not risking anyone catching them in the act.

Riley put his arms behind his head, still fully naked in front of Jessie as he watched his lover quickly get dressed. "That was fun, maybe we should do it again sometime." Riley laughed.

He watched how Jessie was trying to hide the small smirk on his face, and Riley thought Jessie became sexier as put his shirt on with this cocky and laidback attitude.

Riley moved on to swap the bed sheets and get rid of any evidence of his encounter with Jessie. It was still bothersome every time he had to cover it up, but the thrill and excitement made Riley enjoy their hookups regardless.

Not bothering to do all the buttons on his shirt, Jessie left his torso exposed as he peeked through the peephole in Riley's door. After he saw no one around, Jessie quickly left the room without either of them even bothering to say goodbye.

A couple of days later and Jessie was sitting with Cameron in the school canteen during lunch time.

"Mom wants you to call her by they way," Cameron told Jessie as he began tearing away at his sandwich, "Says you've been ignoring her calls?"

Jessie acknowledged his older twin with a unhappy grunt. His relationship with his parents was vastly different compared to his other siblings.

It felt worse being a twin, because a spotlight was casted over every decision he made, and that would make his life constantly compared to Cameron.

"You could at least text them every now and then, just to get them off your back." Cameron suggested.

Shaking his head, Jessie knew it would never be as simple. "You're the clear favourite, which is why it's okay for you to say that."

Jessie resented his parents for the way they treated him and his brothers. With more siblings, Jessie tried harder to fight for their attention, and it never seemed to work.

He tried everything to impress them and earn an equal amount of love that his brothers got. Jessie worked harder and studied more to get better grades. Jessie tried to get a more distinguished set of achievements, like school president and captain of the football team so that they would be proud of him.

But Jessie always felt his parents were never happy with anything, and everything he did. Looking over at his non-identical twin brother, Jessie was envious of the relationship they shared.

"How do they treat me better?" Cameron asked as he turned to his brother.

"You always had the bigger stocking on Christmas Day. They always send you more money at the end of every month. And you managed to get away with smashing a big TV when we were young." Jessie sadly laughed, "Meanwhile I drop a small patch of juice on the new carpet, and I get sent to bed without dinner."

Cameron listened to all of the truthful things that Jessie was saying. It hurt to see his brother be vulnerable and upset about it, and he tried to reassure his brother the best he could. "They love me, you, and Jayden the same amount."

Jealousy was the reason that Jessie broke the TV and blamed it on Cameron. As awful and guilty Jessie felt, he hoped that their parents would scold Cameron enough so that he was no longer the golden child - just so that would be seen on the same level as Cameron.

"Let's just change the topic." Jessie was done talking about their parents, he didn't want anything to spoil his mood.

Riley walked up to pair as he sat down with them. Jessie felt the thud of Riley's bag hitting his head, and he saw how Riley was pretending to be oblivious of his intended actions.

"Jerk."

Hearing Jessie curse him gave Riley a small smile on his face. He deliberately chose the seat next to him, so that he could shamelessly steal chips from his plate.

Jessie quickly grew irritated by Riley's presence next to him as a result. "Why are you stealing my food?"

"Because it annoys you." Riley laughed as he continued eating off Jessie's plate, instead of his own. He began to pout when Jessie had enough and slapped his hand away. "Your delicate fingers hurt my feelings more than my hand."

As much as they both showed a mutual unliking attitude towards each other, they shared the same circle of friends because they had so much in common with each other.

They've known each other since they were 10 years old as they grew up as neighbours, their personality traits were also similar, and they shared the same passion and hobbies such as gaming, films, and sports.

And then also add the fact that they were constantly having sex with each other behind everyone's back.

"Riley, leave my baby brother alone."

"By 5 minutes!" Jessie cursed at an amused Cameron, who always thought it was funny to see Jessie's same reaction whenever he was referred to being the younger one of the pair.

"I'm just teasing," Riley then pinched Jessie's cheeks and spoke condescendingly to him. "We're all friends, aren't we?"

Jessie felt his day was getting worse and worse. "Fuck you asshole."

Cameron was shaking his head as he never understood how 2 people so similar, couldn't play nice with each other. He had to watch them grow apart as they all got older, despite the fact that he was close with the both of them.

"If you keep bullying our tutor then he's going to quit on us, Riley." Cameron warned.

"Do we have to get his help?" Riley asked Cameron, irritating Jessie as he was pretending that he wasn't even there.

Jessie punched Riley in the arm after the insult, he already reached his limits when he was talking about his parents. "You should be lucky that I'm willing to waste an hour on a hopeless waste of space like you."

"No wonder you're the least favourite child..." Riley whispered into his mouthful of pasta.

With an exaggerated and exhausted breath, Jessie got up from the table to leave. "I'll see you guys later, I've lost my appetite."

Right before he left, Jessie poured his leftover food onto Riley's lap. The several salad leafs and chips quickly thudded onto the ground as Riley wiped himself clean.

"You kind of earned that," Cameron admitted, "Did you have to bring our parents into this?"

Watching Jessie storm off gave Riley a sinking feeling in his stomach. He felt bad about using his rocky relationship with his parents against him, and he knew it was a low blow. "I'll apologise to him later."

The bell had went off as everyone began to go collect their things and leave. Whilst they were packing their own stuff, Cameron grabbed Riley by the arm.

"Please try to treat him better, just a little bit of more respect." A protective Cameron asked his roommate.

Riley nodded his head. "I'll try to stop bringing up your parents whenever we fight. But our feud started because he was the one that pushed me out of his life first."

The silence between them got Riley to think about his past friendship with a younger Jessie.

Being friends with the neighbour kid was brilliant, since they were the same age and had so much in common. They used to best friends as they grew up together, and Riley relied on Jessie a lot back then during his parent's divorce.

But Riley thought that something must have happened afterwards that caused Jessie to treat him differently, and it spiralled into something worse - resulting into their current lack of friendship.

To this day Riley didn't know what set of the chain of reaction, but he knew it was Jessie that broke him down first.

"People change, and it's the ones closest to you that hurts you the most."

Cameron listened to the sadness in Riley's voice, and nodded as he remembered the times that a younger Jessie would drive Riley away.

Riley would stop coming to their house as often afterwards, and Jessie would stop talking about his best friend so much. Jessie even returned the gifts that Riley gave him, and Cameron saw the effects it had on a young and vulnerable Riley.

Whenever he asked Jessie about the way he treated Riley back then, he would always clam up and be evasive about it.

"You were both 13 when you grew apart, one of you must have done something." Cameron innocently suggested.

"Ask your jerk of a brother, I genuinely have no idea." It was a mystery to Riley, but he was forced to accept the harsh reality that some childhood best friends grow apart. "He made his bed, and now he has to lay in it."

Author's Note: Just for a future reference, should I continue writing notes at the beginning of a chapter if there are explicit scenes, violent scenes, and etc in the chapter?

I don't know if it's a bit spoilery when you see it at the beginning, and I don't know if it bothers anyone or not.

But then on the other hand a kind of warning makes sense about certain scenes. And then I could be overthinking all of it so I'm not sure if I should just continue with how I'm doing it, or change it.
