Love lots -AV

Scott and Jeremy were loaded into the back of the cruiser. The blonde was doing well controlling his emotions and not breaking down completely. His slightly intoxicated friend was not going so good. Scott had only seen Jeremy cry once before, when he and Kirstie had an argument that nearly ended their relationship. But that was nothing compared to what the brunette was doing now.

"Jer, stop crying. You're going to make things worse."
"B-but..."
"No, stop it right now. It'll work out. I'll call SB and she'll figure it all out."
"Scott, what's going to happen? I-I'm scared."
"I know J. It's scary the first time. But I should be with you at least until the morning. You'll be fine."
"What happens in the morning?"
"You should be out and home by then."
"And you Scottie?"
Scott took a deep breath before looking over at his best friend, "odds are it's back to juvie."
"We just got you back... they can't..." Jeremy was cut off by the officer telling the pair to shut up.

It was another 20 minutes before the officers unloaded them and led them inside. They were photographed for their mugshots and fingerprinter, an ordeal that Jeremy found stressful but Scott was all too familiar with. Afterward they were placed in a holding cell together. Scott laid down on one of the metal benches and threw his arm over his eyes. Jeremy paced the floor.

"Dude, sit down. We're going to be here a while."
"I can't. I'm nervous and scared out of my fucking mind."
Scott laughed at his friend who just looked at the blonde like he was insane. "Jeremy, I know this is all new to you, but I promise this isn't that bad. You'll be here for a few hours, sober up. You'll call your parents and they'll come get you. You'll be grounded for half of eternity but it'll be okay."
"Is this what it felt like for you?"
Scott sat up to look at the other boy, "how what felt like?"
Jeremy took a sit beside his friend. "The first time you were arrested?"
"Pretty much. I was only 15 and I was terrified."
"Damn you were just a kid."
"Yea, I was. It was scary. I had went from living this suburban childhood, to living in alleyways and on couches, to being locked up in a cell. It was horrible that first time. It's still horrible but I know what to expect now so it's not as frightening."
"You seem so calm though man."
"Well one of us has to not freakout."
'Ughh," Jeremy dropped his head into his hands and stayed that way for a few minutes. Scott reached up to pat the boy on the back, the brunette leaning in and resting against Scott's broad shoulder. They stayed that way until a guard came to take them for their phone calls.

Scott had to stop himself from immediately dialing Mitch's number, instead he called Sara Beth, hoping that the lawyer would be able to fix things. Of course she was already on her way, Mitch had called and explained the situation. She of course had rounded everyone up and was on the way to the jail. Before he had the chance to ask about Mitch and Kirstie the guard made him end the call and he was lead back to the cell where Jeremy was already waiting.

Jeremy had spoken to his parents who had already talked to Kirstie so they were aware of the situation and were also on their way. Scott let him know that Sara Beth was planning on dealing with both of their cases.

"It shouldn't be much longer and you'll be home J."
"You will too S. Don't talk like that."
"I"m not so optimistic. I've never broken parole before but I know people who have. I met them when I was locked up. They were there because they broke curfew or crossed state lines or missed a meeting or failed a drug test or one of the other hundred rules we have to follow. The likelihood of me going back is pretty good right now unless SB can work some kind of miracle. And if I do end up back in Dallas I need you to look out for Mitch, okay? He'll need help."
"If it comes to that you know I'll watch out for him. Mitchie's like my little brother. I love him and won't let anything happen to him Scott, I swear."
"Thanks J."

-------------------------------------------------------

Mitch and Kirstie were sobbing messes in the back of Sara Beth's Volvo. Scott's phone had been constantly ringing and his boyfriend had had enough of it and lifted it to see who was calling. He read Derek's name running across the screen before asking SB if he should answer. She told him to go ahead and let Derek know what was going on with Scott.

"Hello?"
"Scott?" Derek was slightly out of breath and sounded as if he had just ran a few miles.
"No, it's Mitch."
"Mitch, it's Derek Johanson, Scott's PO? I need to talk to him right now."
"He- he got arrested. He missed curfew. But I swear it wasn't his fault. The stupid limo driver was late and old and couldn't drive. He tried to call you and let you know but you didn't answer and then the cops took him away." It was hard for Derek to understand what Mitch was saying between how fast he was talking and the massive sobs that were racking the boy's body. However, he did manage to get that Scott was in jail yet again.
"Mitch I'm on the way downtown now. I'm going to take care of this." Mitch could hear another person in the background as Derek shuffled around. "I gotta go but I'll see you at the station." He disconnected the call before Mitch could say anything else.

Sara Beth immediately asked what Derek had said on the phone and Mitch reported as best he could though he was on the verge of a panic attack. "Mitch, sweetie, I need you to breath okay? Deep breaths in...two...three...out...two...three. Keep going just like that." Sara Beth could only do so much from the front seat and Kirstie was in no shape help. After careful coaching, Mitch managed to settle down and was somewhat breathing normally again, clinging to Kirstie.

"What's going to happen to Scottie?"
"And to my Jer-bear?"
Sara Beth sighed heavily, "guys, I'm not sure. I can tell you the possiblities. Jeremy, for underage drinking, it's the first time he's ever been in trouble correct?"
"Yes ma'am. I mean he's been suspended a few times, but never in trouble with the police."
"Well, odds are, if the charges stick, it'll be community service, maybe a fine, and a required alcohol abuse class."
"And what about Scott?"
"Mitch, I'm going to try and talk with Derek and get it settled so hopefully it won't come to this."
"But what's worse case senerio? I need to know."
"He'd have to finish out the rest of his probation in jail."
"But that's three years... he'll be 18 by then. Does that mean he'd be in pr-prison?" Mitch's voice cracked on the last word.
"Yes."
