50
A/n: I can't believe this is part 50. When I started writing this I never thought I'd get this far. Thanks for reading! -AV
Avi and Kevin had just returned to their cell for lights out when the door opened again. Scott walked in looking drained. He had prominent dark circles, appearing to have not slept for days. His hair was a mess and even the jumpsuit looked more rumpled than usual.
As soon as the cell lock clicked, Avi was off his bed to hug the taller boy.
"Scott! You're back!"
"Yea, I am."
Kevin joined the small reunion, "how are you Scott?"
"I'm okay."
"No offense man, but you don't look okay."
"I couldn't sleep in there. It's too quiet. I guess I just got used to Avi's snores and can't sleep without out."
"Not funny Hoying!"
"For real though, I'm fine... uhh... Mitchy woke up... I don't know if he's alright but he woke up."
Scott smiled at his friends, happy to have someone to share his joy with.
"That's fantastic Scott!"
"It really is. It's a good sign he's woken up. He should be fine."
"He's supposed to make a full recovery. Now, as happy as I am to see you two again can I please lay down. I never thought I'd miss my bunk but that damn cot was even more uncomfortable."
"Believe me I know, I've spent enough time there."
"Avi's right, we've both been there. Go ahead and sleep. We have plenty of time to talk, not like any of us are going anyway anytime soon."
"Especially since I'm in for six months now."
Scott jumped up on his bunk to get settled.
"Fuck! Seriously?"
"Yup, release date's now in May."
"That's mine too!"
"So we're in it together Avi."
"Not that I'm glad you're in for another month, but it makes me feel better that Avi has someone to keep him out of trouble when I leave."
"I'll do my best. Now I'm passing out keep it down lover boys."

"Okay Mitch, you're good to go. Follow up with your primary care physician in a week, they can take care of the stitches too. Rest your voice for the next few days, take all of your medication, eat at least two full meals a day. Got it?"
Mitch nodded as Dr. Shelley rolled the wheelchair he was in to a stop at the curb; his father was pulling the car around. Mitch quickly pulled his phone from the hoodie pocket typing out a thank you to the woman that had cared for him the past week and half.
"You're welcome hon. But I was just doing my job. Remember to take care of yourself."
He smiled up at her as she helped him into the car. Mike started the car again and drove away, the good doctor waving them off.
"You excited kiddo?"
Mitch grinned widely and and nodded enthusiastically.
"Well let's get going. Amber's going to meet us there. We have to find someway for you to talk to him. She's going to talk to the warden about our options."
Mitch held up his phone.
"I don't really know if that's an option buddy. He's still in jail and I don't think that's allowed."
Mitch slumped in his seat.
"We'll figure something out."
Mitch squinted against the bright sun coming through windshield, his headache coming back full force. Mike noticed.
"Your medicine is the bag there in the floorboard. It's the one in the blue container."
He reached down and dug through all the medicine bottles until he found the desired one. He grabbed the water bottle from the consul and quickly gulped down the pill. After placing his sunglasses on his head, he leaned back and tried to relax and ease the nagging pain.
Soon enough Mike was shaking him awake.
"We're here. Amber's already inside."
Mitch was out of the car in two seconds flat, nearly running toward the entrance.
"Slow down son! You just left the hospital. Let's not over exert okay."
Mitch slowed and looked down sheepishly, waiting for his father.
After they checked in, they entered the waiting area where they met Ms. Marez. She immediately walked up and hugged her student before turning and point at a rather large, dark skinned, angry looking man behind her.
"Rashad, this is Mitch and his father Mike."
The man reached out his hand, smiling at the two.
"It's nice to meet both of you."
Mitch took his hand and looked at his teacher confusingly.
"He's the warden."
Rashad cleared his throat and looked down at the small blonde woman.
"He's also my... well... we're sort of... kind of... dating..."
"We have been for a while... on and off again anyway... we're on right now."
He wrapped his arm around her and she smiled up at him. Mitch's eyes went wide, indicating his surprise.
"I know... but let's talk about it later... right now let's get you to your boyfriend. He's been crazy all week."
Mitch's eyes lit up, pleading for them to hurry.
"Mitch, I'm going to walk you back. I have a locked tablet that the residents use for school. It'll be set up on the notepad so you can type. You won't be able to get on anything else, not that I don't trust you but we're still dealing with delinquents."
Mitch glared, Rashad looked over at his girlfriend wondering what was wrong.
"Don't talk like that about Scott, he gets defensive. Now go before they die from being apart."
"Do you two want to go to my office to wait, I'll drop Mitch off and met you there?"
"That'll be fine. Let's go Mike."
And then Mitch was walking down the hallway toward where he knew his boyfriend was waiting.
