Love lots -AV
The day drug on for Scott. It was better than juvie and he would take it any day but it was absolutely boring. Since he started high school, Scott had never been fond of attending classes. He always had too much other stuff to worry about, like where was he going to sleep that night. Mitch had made things 1000% better for him though. He didn't mind school as much because he got to see the boy he loved. He had Avi with him now but it just wasn't the same.
To top it all off he wasn't even sure that Mitch knew he was out. He hoped that someone had told him but he hadn't gotten to talk with his boyfriend in days. Scott feel almost like he was going through withdrawls. He hoped that the boy would be able to come over to his house that afternoon, if not to stay then at least for a few hours. He missed his cute dimples and sweet brown eyes. The thought brought a smile to his face.
Avi must have noticed the way his friend zoned out because he reached over and typed his shoulder. Scott shook his head and looked at his friend who was giving him a confused look. He just smiled and went back to his notes.
Before he knew it, it was time for lunch. Avi made his way to detention while Scott found the cafeteria and took a seat when Avi had told him too. He sat and waited for Kevin to come in. The broad boy's face lighting up when he say his friend.
"You're out again!"
"Yup. This time it better be for good."
"We've missed you man. And Mitch has too."
"You've talked to him?"
"He's been texting me and Avi."
"He's okay?"
"Yea, he's good. He knew you were getting out so I think that helped him a lot."
"I hope so."
"You okay?"
"Yea, just feel kind of off balance, you know. I was out, then back in juvie, now I'm out. I left this morning and came straight here so I haven't had a chance to really breath."
"Does Mitch know you're out?"
Scott shrugged, "like I said I came straight here. I don't have my phone so I couldn't tell him."
"I'm sure Rashad or someone told him."
"I hope so. I really miss him."
Kevin let the conversation drop as he saw the principal entering the cafeteria. He didn't want to cause trouble for Scott on his first day so he indicated with his finger over his lip that the blonde should let their conversation drop. Scott did and went back to his lunch that looked only slightly more edible that what he had been fed in juvie. As he was pushing his food around he heard someone approach and sit across from him. The boy had a demeanor of defiance that Scott just couldn't get past.
"So I see you're buddies with that faggot Kaplan?"
"I'm friends with Avi, yea. He was my cellmate at juvie. Why? You gotta problem with that?"
"You lived with that freak?"
Scott could feel Kevin fuming. "Look, I just got out of a fourth stint in, you don't want to mess with me or my friends. So take your sorry ass and find another seat."
"Are you threatening me?"
"I'm not threatening anyone. I'm just stating that you'll be sorry if you mess with me, Avi, or Kevin."
"Are you one of them too?'
"One of them as in...?"
"A queer."
"Actually, yea. I'm gay as they come. But don't worry even if I didn't have a boyfriend I'm not into ignorant ogres like you."
At that point the boy jumped up from the table, throwing his tray to the side. Kevin watched wide eyed as it skidded across the floor, coming to rest right in front of where Principal Menendez was standing. Scott, however, remained completely calm and unfazed by the boys action and continued to mess in the food on his own plate.
"I will beat your ass you little fucker. No one comes up in here and threatens me." He was making his way across the table but before he got there he yanked away by an officer that was on duty, per the principal's instructions. Scott looked up as the boy was lead out of the cafeteria.
"Mr. Hoying, care to explain what just went on?" Mr. Menendez asked.
"Sir, I'm not sure. He sat down and began making homophobic slurs toward my friends and I. I told him that he would be sorry if he didn't leave us alone..." Scott was cut off.
"You were threatening him?"
"No sir. Not intentionally anyway. I meant that I would tell Dan and he would handle it."
"Since I heard nothing I technically can't punish you. Just know that I will be watching you and that threats are not tolerated in my school. Understood?"
"Yes sir."
As the man walked off Scott let out a breath and looked over to Kevin who recognized the boy's expression. Though Scott attempted to play it off, Kevin could tell the he was a bit freaked out. He gave his friend a smile, trying to reassure him before the bell rang and they made their way to their next class. Scott followed Kevin silently knowing that they had the same last class. Avi was already there waiting.
Kevin quickly swiped a kiss from his boyfriend before taking his seat. Scott stood awkwardly not sure where to sit. A moment later Mrs. Sanderson entered, struggling a student desk. Scoot ran to take it from her.
"Thank you dear. You must be Scott."
"Yes ma'am."
"I've heard a lot about you from these two and Danny. This is your desk. I had run out. This is a big class."
"I hope good things."
"Every bit was good. I couldn't even believe you had a rap sheet with the way they talk."
Scott looked down embarrassed by the teacher's comment. She noticed and shook her head. "Honey, pretty much every kid at this school has done time. Don't let that bother you."
Avi spoke up, "she's right Scottie. The teachers here don't judge though. And Mrs. S is one of the best ones here."
"Avriel, you flatter me. Now Scott if you'll just put that desk right there behind Kevin's. I'll put the warm up on the board and you boys can start. Everyone else should be coming in soon."
