Kirstin and Mitch were out of the car as soon as it was in park, each scrambling up the stairs of the county jail. Sara Beth hurried behind them, meeting her girlfriend and best friends in the lobby.
"Has Derek arrived?" she asked after pecking Summer's lips.
"He hasn't. But Am called Rashad, he's on his way as well."
"Have you talked to anyone yet?"
"Kyle went up and asked about them but the only person allowed to see them right now is their attorney."
"Okay, let me go see what I can do." With that the petite red head turned and made her way to the front desk.

The two teens were still crying as they clung to each other. Amber and Kyle worked to move the pair to a sitting area where they could wait for news. A few minutes passed and Rashad rushed in, hugging Amber before saying he was going to talk to some friends in the department about Scott and Jeremy. Another couple of moments passed before Derek came running in, he spotted Mitch and immediately walked to the small group that had formed in the waiting room.

"Mitch, have you heard anything?" The young boy shook his head no. "Does he have a lawyer?" A nod for yes. The parole officer looked to the adults for a better answer, Kyle supplying one.
"Sara Beth is back there with them. She's been back there for like twenty minutes but we haven't heard anything. Rashad's somewhere too, I'm not sure where though."
"Okay, let me go see if I can find anything out. I'll be back." He patted Mitch's back before walking off.

Jeremy's parents arrived and joined the vigil of nervous people, waiting anxiously for news. They sat close the Kirstie, Jeremy's mother rubbing gentle circles on the girls back in an attempt to soothe her. However, the woman's own heartache was evident by her tear stained face. They waited for more than half an hour before Derek reemerged.

"I was able to talk to Scott, they wouldn't let me see the other boy. Sara Beth is with them both right now."
"How's Scottie?" Mitch asked quietly.
"He's okay Mitch. I promise. Sara Beth is trying to find out when we can talk to a magistrate and get them out. She said she would be out soon."

Scott was sitting handcuffed to a table in an interrogation room. He wasn't sure who was going to come through the door but he hoped it would be Derek or Sara Beth or even better, an officer telling him he was free to go.

"Scott?"
"Derek! Thank god. I tried to call you I really did. I gave myself an extra fifteen minutes to get home but the driver was so slow and he was late and..." Scott blabbers out in a single breath only stopping when his PO holds up his hand and speaks.
"I got your voicemail and saw the missed calls. I'm working on seeing what I can do to get you out. I'm sorry I didn't answer, I was...uh...a bit... busy."
Scott lifted his eyebrows, "Der was getting some."
"Inappropriate Scott."
"But not incorrect."
"How are you joking around right now? You're locked up and might be going back to juvie unless Sara Beth and I can work a miracle. Why are you not a mess?"
"I don't know. I guess I know what's going to happen will happen. And if I go back to juvie it's going to suck ass and I'm going to hate it because I'll be away from Mitchy again. But right now there's not a thing I can do about it. I just have to trust you and SB."
"You are possibly the most positive kid I've ever worked with Scott. Don't ever lose that, okay?" Scott grinned and nodded. "I'm going to get out of here and see what i can do, Sara Beth will be in soon to talk to you."
"Thanks Derek." The man gives a nod before walking out and letting the door close behind him.

A few moments of quiet is disturbed when an officer leads Jeremy in, attaching his handcuffs to the table as well. The man tells them their lawyer requested to speak with them at the same time and that she would be in soon. As soon as the door clicked shut Jeremy turned to his friend.

"Why are we handcuffed to a table, isn't that door locked?"
"Yea, it's locked. But it's easier and safer if you can't get up and move around. You came to visit me in juvie and I was cuffed everytime. And they have more control there than they do in here."
"Still," Jeremy tugged at the cuffs, "I don't like it."
Scott chuckled, "neither do I J."

Sara Beth walked in, quickly dismissing the guard who had opened the door for her with a head nod. She sat her briefcase on the table before sitting down herself and looking over at the two boys.

"You two doing okay?" They both nodded and she continued. "I've read over the police statement for both of you. Jeremy, did they do any kind of sobriety test other than the typical walk a line yada yada?"
"Like a breathalyzer?"
"That or take a blood sample here at the station?" He shook his head. "Good, they technically can't charge you with anything."
"So I can leave?"
"Not until I talk to a judge. Derek and Rashad are working on that."
"What about me?" Scott piped into the conversation.
Sara beth took a deep breath and blew it out slowly. "I honestly don't know yet Scottie. I'm working on it I swear I'm trying. I'm going to talk to the magistrate, so are Derek and Rashad. Hopefully that'll be enough to convince him to let you stay home and continue your probation as is. I can't make guarantees though and you know I won't sugar coat things."
"So it's a very real possibility I'm going back to juvie?"
"Well... yes, but after September they'd move you."
"You mean prison? I could go to prison for missing curfew once and it wasn't even my fault?"
"I know Scott but that's worst case okay. I'm going to do my damnedest to make sure it doesn't come to that."
"Oh god..."
"Scott, you told me not to freak earlier and I listened. Now it's your turn not to panic. She's going to fix it S. You're not going back."
"No buts Scott Richard. You look at me!" Scott turned to look his best friend in the eye, "it's going to be okay." The blonde nodded slowly trying to not lose control over his emotions. "There now. I love you man. It's all going to work out."
"Listen to Jeremy Scott." At that moment the woman's phone vibrated on the table. She lifted it, her face contorting as she read the message. "Bad news boys, I can't speak with a judge until tomorrow afternoon."
"What does that mean?" Jeremy was the first to speak up.
"It means we're stuck in here until then."
"Unfortunately yes. I'm sorry boys. Derek said he's called everyone he knows and no one is willing to come out this late but he did convince one to make room in their schedule tomorrow."
"Can we at least see Mitchie and Kirst and everyone?" Scott asked.
"I'm going to go ask. If I don't see you anymore, try to rest and stay calm. I've got things under control." She squeezed both their hands and peck their cheeks before knock on the door and being let out. It was only moments later when an officer came and escorted the pair of teens down the hall. The man made them stripe of their tuxes and put on the standard uniform that Scott had become so familiar with. He couldn't help but think back to just that afternoon when he thought he was done with this life forever. Now by some chance he was back in an orange jumpsuit and his fate was up in the air once again.
