In Danger
When I woke up the next morning, the rest of the house was asleep, and I was just enjoying the silence, and serenity. I took a drink of water, as I stared out the window.
Me, the leader of a pack. It was surprising, I never expected my life to turn out like this, sure, I never expected or wanted normal of course. I had so many different ideas on how things would turn out.
I used to think I'd marry Derek. Help him take care of his pack, but never lead it. Maybe we'd have a few kids, continue the Hale bloodline. And, I'd stay in Beacon Hills.
That didn't work out, I imagined staying with Kol, and building a life. Or with Sam, none of that worked out.
But maybe, it wasn't supposed to. Because, what I have now, is perfect. Life is funny like that I guess.
My train of thought is broken, when I hear a noise, my werewolf hearing is a lifesaver most of the time, even if it does take some getting used to. I hear a twig snap from outside, to a normal person, it'd be nothing. But I was far from normal.
I opened my front door, and walked outside, I looked around, but saw nothing but woods, swaying slightly by the cool breeze that came over.
*Snap*
There it was again. It couldn't be Kai, Tyler, Bayley, or Trent. They were all asleep.
The other wolves from the unbreakable pack, were a few miles away, and if it was one of them, they'd have just knocked on my door, unless it were a threat of course.
I looked around outside. Nothing. No sign of anyone. I shrugged, and decided to go back inside, just as I grabbed the doorknob, I felt something pierce my shoulder.
Whatever it was, the pain was agonizing. I couldn't help but fall as I grabbed the wound and let out a cry of pain, it felt like a bullet, which of course I knew the feel of. I used to be not only a cop, but a hunter. Only, this was worse than a normal bullet. Which could only mean one thing.
Wolfsbane.
I'd just been shot, by a bullet laced with wolfsbane, I remembered that Derek had been shot with one once and he almost died from it. I know how he survived. But there was no way I was going to get another bullet from someone I couldn't see.
Was this it? Was I going to die? From this? Just when things were getting good for me again, I was faced with life and death. Maybe I should spend less time complaining, and more time finding a solution.
I hit the door with my good shoulder as I swung it open as hard as possible, it hit the wall, leaving a hole in it. The wolfsbane was already taking effect on me.
"Help!"
Was all I managed to choke out, it was barely a yell before hitting my face on the floor as I fell again, a human never would've heard me. But thankfully, my friends were not humans.
My four housemates, used superhuman speed to run into the room.
Their eyes widened.
"Is she okay?!" Tyler exclaimed. Bayley knelt down next to me, and looked at the blood on my shoulder, she pulled my sleeve up, and noticed that the infection from the wolfsbane had began to spread.
She covered her mouth with her hand.
"Wolfsbane..."
She mumbled.
"What? No! That can't happen! Wh-what do we do?" Kai asked, his voice shaking.
Trent knelt down, next to his sister. And looked up at Kai and Tyler, who were completely beside themselves. And had no clue what to do.
"Any idea who shot her..?" Trent asked. Kai rolled his eyes. "How the h*ll would I know that?! Think Trent!"
"Wait! Maybe we don't need the bullet! Kai, can't you siphon it out..?" Bayley asked.
"I can try, maybe even do a spell on it."
Kai replied, he got on his knees, as he put his hands on my shoulder, and closed his eyes. He used his siphon abilities to take the pain away, and Bayley ripped the bullet out. But the wolfsbane was still in my system. Killing me. Continuing to infect me.
"Relinquunt virus in corpus."
Kai began to chant over and over again. I woke up, and used my hands to push myself up, I spit every last drop of wolfsbane out onto the floor.
"Hoc mundus regius."
Kai chuckled as he saw the mess and snapped his fingers, cleaning it up.
I stood to my feet, and wiped my mouth, the rest of them that were kneeling, stood as well.
"What happened?"
Bayley asked, as she put her arm around me. I explained everything.
"We should probably check on the rest of the pack." Tyler suggested. The rest of us nodded in agreement, before heading up there.
They were fine it seemed. But Harper requested to see me, I followed her to her tent where Caden was sitting.
Harper let out an exaggerated sigh.
"Abi, we have a problem. And we're gonna need backup." She explained. I cocked my head. "What problem?"
"Hunters."
Caden replied, he spoke with a thick Irish accent, which I didn't expect. I think that was the first time I'd ever heard him say something.
My eyes widened. "Hunters? Are you sure?" I asked. Harper nodded and proceeded to tell me about some things that her and Caden found.
Bear traps, wolfsbane spiked water, footprints. And the wolves clearly weren't doing any of it.
I told her and Caden about me getting shot earlier, the two of them exchanged worried looks before turning back to me.
"Then we're worse off than we thought. Can you find someone that'll help us?" Harper asked.
A few people came to mind. But I realized how bad of an idea they would be. But I knew one person who could help.
I nodded. "I can take care of it. And um, where is Paul?" I questioned, a bit confused on why he wasn't here. He should've been the first to say something. He would've been on my case about it, since I was the alpha. He would've insulted my leadership.
Harper shrugged. "He said, he had some work to do. He took Seth, and a few others with him, nobody crucial. I assume, he's just pouting and doesn't want to be around anyone. He'll be back before you know it. Let's just enjoy our vacation."
Caden chuckled, and so did I. I was pretty thankful I didn't have to be around Paul, but at the same time. He should've asked for permission before leaving. I'd have to deal with that when he got back.
Oh, great. Now I was sounding like Derek. That's the type of thing he'd get ticked off about, maybe it was stupid. But, Paul needed to learn his place. And besides, those wolves, would be missing their training. And, that could get them killed.
"Start training the wolves please."
I smiled, before walking through the flaps of the tent.
The help I had in mind, I wasn't gonna go after myself. But luckily, I had a friend who'd have no problem with going after him.
"Tyler, a word?" I asked. He smiled, and walked over to me. "What's up?"
"I need you to go to Beacon Hills. This pack is under attack, and we need some help from an old friend of mine. You can take Bayley with you." I explained. He sighed. "What's this friend's name?" He questioned.
"Scott McCall."
