Chapter 18: I Didn't See That Coming (Part 2)
"If you're not Luke, then who am I talking to?" Bryn asked in as steady a voice as she could muster. Luke blinked, his eyes changing from the sapphire blue she knew so well to solid gold. "You're an Eidolon..."
"Very good, Miss Winchester. Luke's right, you're extremely smart," the Eidolon praised, switching its eyes back to blue.
"You're a powerful one. That's how you were able to manifest that night Hallie saw you."
"I'm powerful, yes, enough to gather enough power to manifest for a little bit before I need a host again. But I was not the one Hallie saw."
"There's more of you." Bryn whirled around to look at her friends. Silena, Hallie, and Brady were trapped by the ground and were trying to yell out to her, but for some reason nothing came out. Derek's Eidolon must've trapped them with her friend's power and Bradley's Eidolon must've used her brother's Hecate powers to enact a silencing spell.
"Why them?"
"Because they're the weakest. At least mentally they are. Physically, they're incredibly strong. It's great being in a body this tough, this durable. It's been eons."
"Who hid the master weapons?"
"We did. The night the harpies were killed which for the record, we did, we used Derek's abilities to shadow-travelled to Olympus, walked in and stole the weapons right out from underneath the gods' arrogant noses. They must really be stupid if they think it's safe to leave those things lying around after already having them stolen once already. I mean how thick can you get?"
"I think that is something we can actually agree on," Bryn remarked. "If they had, it would be making our lives much easier right about now."
"Okay Miss Winchester, now if you will kindly go down and join your comrades, we need a more suitable base of operations. This has too many tourists."
"Then why choose it for the last place to hide the last weapon?"
"Because the place we have in mind for our base of operations has too many avenues you could've escaped from. This place, not so much. It was also the farthest from camp and we knew you would attempt this in the most logical way possible, starting with the closest weapon. We left clues for the gods where the weapons would be and made 'circumstantial' evidence point to one of you seven. Now down you go. We don't have all day."
"And if I don't?"
"Sweetie, do you really think you can beat a being as old as me?"
"I defeated Tartarus. I think I could handle you."
"You died doing that. Are you willing to do that again? To put your dear boyfriend through that torture for a third time? To put your family through that a third time? It makes me wonder just how much you actually care about them all."
"Oh I'm not going to die. I have done enough of that for a lifetime. Besides, I have the better end of the deal." Bryn grabbed onto the bolt and fired it, sending the Eidolon flying backwards. "The skinny end of the bolt is what hits the target, not the broad end. So I literally had the better end of the deal. Or bolt I guess, in this case."
Bryn flew to the ground, zapping Derek and Brady in the chest on her way down which sent them flying fifteen feet away. She landed in front of her non-possessed friends. Hallie had already used the freedom to make the rocks imprisoning their feet disappear.
"Brady, take the Helm of Darkness and go get help. If we're not back here by the time you return, they've taken us somewhere else," Bryn explained hurriedly. She snatched the helm from Hallie's backpack and handed it to her brother. "Just imagine where you want to go and that's where it will take you."
"What about you? Why not come with me?" he demanded.
"Because we're their girlfriends and we have the best shot of getting through to them to fight back against the Eidolons. And if that doesn't work and we get caught, you can find us through our telepathic connection, okay? Now go!"
Brady slipped on the helm, shut his eyes, and disappeared into the shadows. Bryn silently prayed that the finicky weapon would work for her sibling since it hadn't wanted to work for her.
"Silena, when we start fighting, keep running. Derek will try to trap your feet in the ground. You ready?" Bryn queried, gripping the Master Bolt.
"You have no idea," Silena growled, glaring at the Eidolons who were staggering to their feet. It was obvious they weren't as powerful as they could be since it was taking them this long to regain their composure.
Bryn twirled the weapon in her hand, prepping herself for a fight. Silena unleashed her sword, Seismos, while Hallie elongated her sword, Manía, or as she would sometimes call it, 'Fury'. The Eidolons stood up, rage filling their eyes.
"What are your names?" Silena demanded. "You're not our boyfriends so we'd liked to address you by your real names."
"I'm Baltazar," Luke's Eidolon said. Something about his name seemed curious to the daughter of Zeus but for some reason she couldn't place it. Since there were more pressing matters at hand, she made a mental note to look into the name later.
"I'm Damianos," Derek's Eidolon stated. "My namesake means to kill. Unfortunately, I can't do that to you just yet. You're needed."
"Before my comrade gives too much more away of our plan," Bradley's Eidolon snarled, "I am Phlegon."
"I'd say it's nice to meet you but you've taken over my boyfriend and family so it's not," Silena replied.
"Are you really going to fight us?" Baltazar questioned with raised eyebrows.
"Come on!" Hallie provoked, her voice echoing through the caverns of the Waitomo Cave system. Her encouragement certainly worked though. Balthasar charged at Bryn, using Kyklónas to deflect the lightning bolts she was sending at him Baltazar the Master Bolt.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Silena battling Derek on her left, and Hallie battling a Trident-wielding Bradley on her right.
"Phlegon! Trident!" Baltazar barked. The Eidolon tossed it towards his comrade but Bryn knocked it off course with a well-aimed lightning bolt. Hallie snatched it out of the air and used the non-forked end to butt Bradley in the gut with it before using the same end to knock him in the chin upwards. However, that split-second of distraction had allowed Baltazar to charge Bryn, knocking her down to the ground. He wrestled her for the Master Bolt. The daughter of Zeus thought about electrocuting him but she reminded herself Luke was still in his body. If she electrocuted the Eidolon too much, she could kill her boyfriend. Bryn tried to knee Baltazar in the balls, but apparently being an immortal being prevented him from being affected by that. She tried to knock her head against his but he pulled away just before they connected.
"You're a feisty one, aren't you?" Baltazar laughed. "I like a challenge."
"Go to hell."
"Already been. Didn't agree with me."
"Another thing we can agree on."
Suddenly Baltazar changed tactics. Instead of trying to pull the weapon away from her, he pushed it against her throat. Her air supply was cut short but while her heart rate should've been slowing, it was instead getting faster.
Fearing the Eidolon was using Luke's dark power, she managed to say, "What a-are yo... you d-doing?"
"You're not willing to play dirty, but I am. There's a power you possess to beat me but you have no idea what it is. Now, close your eyes and you'll be awake before you know it."
Bryn physically couldn't breathe. Her rapid heartrate required more breaths than she could take. Within seconds of having the lightning bolt pushed against her throat, the daughter of Zeus passed out.

So not too much action but I thought I'd give you another chapter since this book is coming to a close. Now I need to think of another book name and cover... hmm... anywho, reviews would be lovely (especially since the ones for the previous chapter were so great)!
