Napoleon Bonaparte's Shame
While a great military general, Napoleon had a very "peculiar" battle 8 years before Waterloo. In July 1807, he was the victim in a vicious attack against a horde of rabbits. I know, it sounds hilarious, but let me finish. There is a good explanation.
Having just signed the treaties of Tilsit, he and his dignitaries decided to celebrate with a rabbit hunt. It was held at the mansion of Napoleon's trusted advisor, Baron Thiebault . It is written that they were to begin by releasing a cage of 3,000 furry woodland creatures which they would then track down.
Upon the cage doors open, the bunnies did not scatter but instead grouped up and attacked Napoleon and his men. Despite fighting back with guns and whips it was no use. Napoleon was viciously attack his lower body, and was forced to retreat via carriage.
It was later discovered that the rabbits were not breed for hunting. They were farm raised and when they were set free they mistook the men as the farmer that feeds them. All of this would later be published in a 1901 Liverpool Herald article. Honestly, It was probably the most hilarious battle in the Frenchman's military career.
