Hunting and Finding

James' POV

In exactly five minutes everyone that's supposed to be ready to go is standing outside, the punctuality something admire.

Though everyone getting ready did not take long I still can't shake this anxious feeling that the time that we are spending is way too much and we need to get to my bean now. 'I can feel it too. Something isn't right.' Sloan tells me and his confirmation on the bad feelings creeping up my spine only makes them worse.

Before I can respond, Alpha Lucas is drawing everyone in together to give instructions. " All right guys, just like James said time is a pressing matter. "We all know how important it is to get to the Luna fast in safely before anything can happen. He's informed me Cody is about five foot six with a lean body type chocolate curls and glasses. Wherever it takes us he should be easy to spot especially since he's half wolf."

The people around us are taking studious notes in their minds, playing clear attention to their leader. My patience is beginning to wear very thin and I think the wolves around me can feel it because the next words he says finally has me breathing a sigh of relief.

"Alright, Allison you know what to do. James do you have anything that smells like Cody?" He asked me and I face I begin to panic until I remembered that I have his hoodie in my car. I'll tell them to give me a minute and a jog towards my vehicle a few feet away and grab the car I meant from my backseat. I shut and locked my car back before making my way towards the group and handing the jacket to the hybrid wolf.

She nods her thanks to me and I watching in awe as she begins chanting out a spell underneath her breath. Looking down at the jacket and her hands I watch as the yellow fabric begins to glow in her hands brightly floating up into the air until it begins to spin around the body as it's looking for something. It takes a few moments but it finally turns itself into an arrow before pointing in the northwest direction towards the forest.

"He's somewhere in the woods, Alphas." Allison tells us nothing towards the arrow that's pointing severely in the direction of the trees.

"Okay, guys. We know what to do. Find Luna Cody, figure out how many men are there and do our best to extract him with as little damage as possible. Our first priority is getting James to his Mate without any problems." There's a chorus of agreements before he looks at me and I nod to him, ready to go find my Mate and tear apart the jealous bitch that stole him from me.

A collective understanding goes through our small group as we all let our bodies shift into our wolf forms shaking our fur and limbs to stretch them out preparing ourselves for a run and a possible fight.

As soon as we're ready and I assume the order goes out to the separate pack link, we all begin to jog towards the section of woods that the arrow is pointing and I watch in distracted fascination as it begins to move in front of us leading us towards my Cody that is somewhere trapped in these words.

As the collective sound of our paws hitting the earth begin to speed up so does the navigation in front of us and in no time we're racing through the trees whizzing through nature's obstacles as we try our best to get towards my Luna before it's too late. And I try my best not to think about what that could mean for him. For me. And for us.

The neon light of the arrow begins the pulse in front of us and though I can't enter the pack link other alphas are able to communicate with each other for situations like these.

'We're close.' Lucas tells me through our temporary mind link and I acknowledge him with a nod of my head preparing myself to walk in on anything. And hoping that my mind is the worst case scenario of what I'm going to see. Just as the light begins blinking faster, A slow painful burn begins to make its way to my chest and Sloan and I immediately begin to whine lowly in our chest knowing with the feeling is, having learned it all our life.

'James...James!! Is Cody...rejecting ..' He cuts off his own words with a sob and the pain that flows in my chest makes me stumble to the ground and I can hear the faint echo of each word in my mind.

"I, Cody Green,..." I can't even hear the rest of the sentence as I begin to howl towards the sky as my body contracts on the ground painfully. The wolves surrounding me feed off of my distraught mind begin to howl in unison. And just as sudden as the words start they cut off abruptly. My body is left breathless at the whispers of pain that still only grow my body completely shocked at the words that just graced my ears.

'It's Jessica. She's trying to make him reject us. Fuck! We need to get there now!!!' Sloan is going crazy on my mind and mixture of snarl, sobs and anger pushing on our mental barrier as he begs to get through anything to get to Cody or the wretched bitch that stole him from us.

'Alpha?! Are you alright?' As soon as my howls die down and the rest do as well, the wolf is in front of me the gaze in his eyes troubled and concerned.

'She's trying to make him reject me. We have to be close because as soon as the howls started the words stopped. They know we're close so we have to hurry.' I tell my fellow Alpha and he nods as he helps me from the ground with his snout as I relay the message to Alex. As soon as everyone makes sure I'm okay we're on the move again though slower than before as my body tries to recover from the aftershocks of pain.

It doesn't take us long but in a few minutes the light of the arrow is blinking so rapidly it almost looks like it's not blinking at all. Just as we come over the crest of a hill at the bottom I'm able to see a  run down cabin that stands alone in the middle of the woods and there's no doubt in my mind that my Mate is down there waiting for me. As we go to move forward and make our way down the slope I see about six wolves emerge from the trees surrounding us.

'Rogues.' Alex confirms  through our link and I'm groan immediately as I think about one more obstacle that I have to get through in order to have my bean in my arms safe and sound. Rouges are types of wolves that don't belong to any pack. They live out in the wild usually staying in their wolf form, sometimes even going as far as to live with a regular wolves.

My lip curls in a snarl when I see my dad to the front of them my heart breaking in half yet again as I wonder what is the fuck is wrong with him and why I wasn't enough.

He doesn't try to reach out to me through the link and I'm glad he doesn't knowing that if I heard his voice in my head once more there would be nothing stopping me from making myself an orphan, not claiming one of my parents and the other never leaving this forrest again.

Alex and I stand our ground along with the members of my sister pack and then watch some of the rogue wolves chicken out and run the rest of the way down the hill before disappearing into the other side of the forrest.

'Pussies.' Sloan growls and I smirk, my eyes still on our father as he looks down on me even from below me.

'Smart ones.' I declare as I begin to move forward towards the wall of walls that are standing between me and my mate. The wolves  around me begin moving as well and I feel all of us collectively gain speed as we head towards the rouges below us. Where about 100 feet from each other when suddenly I feel Alpha Lucas as permission to enter my mind. A bit confused especially since we're heading into a fight I allow him to enter my consciousness.

'James you need to go find Cody now, we will handle these wolves.' And though I know he's right I still can't stop my growl of frustration I leave my throat. I slow down my stride and allow the rest of the wolves to continue onward relaying Lucas's instructions towards Alex so that he doesn't worry.

I watch in dissatisfaction as all the wolves clash and instead of entangling myself in the fight I give the fighting animals a wide berth. I continue my way towards the cabin picking up my speed once more until I'm right outside the broken down door. I allow my human form to come through as a shift from four feet to two. Making sure to take careful quiet steps I make my way towards the broken door and slowly push it in word towards the building.

At first I don't see anything or anyone inside until I turn slightly to the right and my breath catches in my throat as I freeze.

    And then I frown.

"Makayla?!" The name falls from my lips and mouth confusion as I watch the Witch hold a dagger towards Cody's throat the blade glistening in what looks like poison. She gives me a smile that I blatantly ignore, my eyes only for my bean who's eyes are staring at me. And I quickly realize that it's Jesse who's present. Though I shouldn't be, I am selfishly relieved that it's not the small innocent one that has to endure this trauma but rather Jesse knowing that eventually he'll be okay.

"Hi, James. You look hot as always." The Witch says to me and I blanch my mind reeling as I try to come to terms with the fact that is not Jessica
who has a knife to my beans throat but rather in insignificant girl who was always in the background.

"Makayla. What are you doing?" I asked cautiously looking for someway to get Jessie and I out ofthis without a scratch. All I need is a clear five seconds to have her distracted so that I can launch myself across the room and take care of her. My eyes come in contact with Jessie and he seems to understand as he gives a slight nod at me. This is where a link would be particularly useful but I have to make do as I read his eyes and body language.

"Waiting for you. I'm getting rid of this trash so we can finally be together. Just like we've always wanted." She tells me in just by the sound of her voice I can tell she's dead serious and that makes her more dangerous than any thought that I had on Jessica. I watch Jessie as he tenses up his body and I ready myself trying to move in synch so that we don't lose this opportunity.

I watch in slow motion as Jessie tilts his head forward before slamming it back on Makaylas face harshly and I can hear the crunch of her nose from here. In a second my body elongates into my wolf and I use my hind legs to push my body from one side of the cabin to the other just as my lover drops to the floor and out the way as the bitch cusses while holding her nose. Just as she looks up, her eyes widen as my paw comes down on her and swipes across her face down to her abdomen, my long nails digging deep into her body, blood squirting out on to my face and fur at the action.

I watch as her dying body falls to the floor and even as much as I try to feel bad about it, I can't seem to make myself care as I turn towards Jessie to make sure that he and his human counterpart are okay.

Dude. This was crazy. I can't believe he could feel the words Cody was saying, that kind of gives me a little insight on Chan's book.
