Chapter 1

*a month and a half later*

Jay's POV

"Oh you are so going down, Dirtclod!" I exclaim, rapidly pressing the buttons on the controller in my hand.

"In your dreams, Zappy!" Cole responds by sending my character flying back. I groan.

"You're cheating," I whine.

"Am not, you just need better skills," he defends himself. By clicking the right, up, x, and down buttons all at the same time, he performs a combo move, throwing me off the screen. I sigh, putting down my controller.

"You've beat me five times in a row. It's not fun anymore," I grumble, leaning against the couch.

"It's not my fault you're off your game. Spill," he nudges my side.

"There's nothing to spill," I tell him. He gives me a disbelieving look. "Fine, fine, it's about Nya."

"No shock there. What about?" I laugh slightly at his accidental pun.

"It's been over a month Cole, over a month, and I still can't confess my feelings for her! I chicken out every single time," I tug at my hair. "I have my dream girl in front of me, and I can't even tell her that I like her."

"Well I'm no love expert..." he starts.

"Cole, you have an even worse record than I do. The only girl you've ever shown interest in was just trying to trick you and knocked you unconscious in a bakery after you bought her food," I raise an eyebrow at him.

"That was one time," he defends himself.

"And the only time," a smile starts to cross my face.

"You're really annoying; did you know that?"

"Oh, you love how annoying I am," I tell him, sprawling across the entire couch. I rest my legs in his lap, moving so my head is on the armrest. "Seliel honestly wasn't that bad. Now Chamille, she was bad. I'd be happy to never see her again in my life."

"I still can't believe she actually followed through with our deal," Cole admits, leaving my legs on his lap. I cross my arms behind my head.

"Well, they aren't evil, just misguided. It makes sense that they follow through with their promises. Seliel was probably the second best to me to be honest. PIXAL was also fine; she just kind of ignored me," I defend them. Although the conditions of my kidnapping weren't exactly the best, they could have been a lot worse.

"And the best was Nya, of course," Cole finishes for me.

"Hey, she actually was. She actually interacted with me, and the second time around I wasn't even in ropes most of the time, oh, and she was the only one that didn't say that I'm annoying," I validate my choice.

"Where is she now, anyways?" he asks.

"She's at the doctor with Kai. Her immune system is weak from being in isolation for so long, considering the only contact she had with the germs from our world was Ciara. He wants to monitor her to make sure nothing bad happens," I explain.

"Is that why she's been sick four times so far?" Cole asks, a look of realization across his face.

"Yep. Her body doesn't have the antibodies that ours have developed over all our lives. They're looking into giving her some vaccines for the deadly diseases, so she won't catch them. The only problem is that she's allergic to perfume, but they don't know what chemical in the perfume. They don't want to give her a vaccine with that chemical in it."

"That's tough," Cole says before letting out a big yawn. "I'm sorry. I'm exhausted. I couldn't sleep last night."

"Were the bed bugs biting?"

"Haha, no. Something is up with my element. It's still working, but it just feels strained, like it's constantly being used. It was worrying me."

"That's been happening to me too. I was freaking out about it, and Master Wu caught me and was able to calm me down. Apparently it's just a side effect of Mara merging the gemstones. It just gets stronger until it's done," I shrug. "I think he said something about her linking the gemstones to us with some witchy-woo or something like that. The link slowly pulls powers from us into the gemstones, but we regenerate energy fast enough to keep our powers at our regular strength. It's not like we're getting our powers taken away. The gemstones don't exist without the four elemental masters of creation anyways, but neither does Ninjago. If anything were to happen to any of us, oh boy, the rest of us would be in for a treat."

"So the gemstones run off of our powers?" Cole clarifies. I nod.

"I looked into them some with Nya, and we found out that when we were dealing with them, they were powerless. When they're charged with our powers, they can be either merged into the emerald of energy or separated from each other back into their raw forms. In order to destroy the gemstone, me, you, Kai, and Zane would all need to shoot our powers into it for several minutes before it'd split again."

"Not to be pessimistic or anything, but that sounds extremely hard to do," Cole tells me.

"Oh, I know. To make it even harder, the gemstones are still charged from our powers after the split, so they could be combined again right after," I tell him. He groans.

"This is giving me a headache. I'm going to take a nap."

"Me too."

---

I'm woken up by the sound of the door squeaking open. I groan, rolling onto my side, "Five more minutes."

"I never said you had to get up," at the sound of her laugh, I sit up. Nya is standing in the doorway, her hair pulled back and a beautiful smile on her face. I quickly rub my eyes.

"Hi, Nya," I say, dreamily, before realizing Cole is gone. "Where's Cole?"

"Eating something in the kitchen. He said you'd be in here," she answers, setting her bag down on the table. Quickly, I readjust my hair and scoot over, so she can sit down. She takes the seat next to me.

"How was your appointment?" I ask her, already mesmerized.

"Boring. They gave me some shot, for meningitis I think, and told me to call them if I get any bad side effects," she tells me, lifting up her sleeve. There is a tan bandage on her arm.

"That must've sucked. Shots are the absolute worst. I passed out the last time the doctor tried to give me one," I shiver at the though. Nya laughs.

"It wasn't that bad, just a little uncomfortable," she looks down at her arm before looking up at me. "Do you want to have a movie night once the others go to bed? They're great and all, but they crashed our last one and talked the whole time."

The suggestion puts an even brighter smile on my face. "I'd like that."

Nya's POV

I sit on the couch, waiting for Jay to come in. I have a blanket for us to share, along with a bowl of popcorn and one of the Starfarer movies pulled up on the tv. I have my BorgPhone pulled out, still amazed by all of its features.

The contrast between Ninjago and my old home is a sharp one. Here in Ninjago, I'm free to do almost anything, with the exception of vile things I don't even want to do. There's information at my fingertips with my BorgPhone. I can look anything up and not get penalized. Before, my only source of information was from Ciara and Mara, both incredibly biased.

I'd be lying if I were to say that the transition into this new life was easy. There's so much I don't know about this world, and I don't like asking too many questions. It makes me feel incapable. Additionally, I've missed my sisters like crazy. The guys are absolutely amazing, but it's not the same. They all have a shared history, a bond that I'll never share with them.

When I first got here, I only thought bad people came in the form that tried to oppress the masses, but that's not true. I've seen dozens of disgusting people, like those who tried to steal the bank last week and others who are just plain rude.

Kai made me Chirp and Instabrick accounts, and people have just been downright terrible in the comments sections. Some say that I'm a fraud and I'm just playing the boys, others tell me that I'm not actually Kai's sister, and others call me derogatory terms that Jay refused to explain to me, so I looked them up. He tells me to just 'block out the haters', but it's hard.

When I hear the door open, I put down my phone. Jay walks in, tiptoeing, in his blue, striped pajamas that match the other boys' pajamas. In one hand, he has a box, and in the other, he has a thing of cotton candy. His smile is bright at the sight of me. Just the sight of him makes my heart swell.

"Sorry I'm a bit later than anticipated. Zane and I were playing an intense game of chess and..."

"It's fine Jay, really," I reassure him. He walks over, setting down the cotton candy before handing me the box. He takes the seat next to me on the couch, turning his head to look at me.

"Open it. I got it just for this occasion the last time we landed. Hopefully you like it, well you liked it before, but hopefully you weren't just faking," he says, adding the last little part. I grab the lid of the box, slowly pulling it off. Inside the box, there is an assortments of different types of chocolates. A giant smile spreads across my face. "It's all dark chocolate since you said those were your favorite last time."

The smile on my face makes the smile on his face grow. "They were. Thank you Jay, this is really sweet."

"It's nothing, really. Oh, and next time we go into the city, you're so getting a pair of these pajamas to match the rest of us."

"I'd be honored to join your pajama gang," I say, placing a hand over my heart. "I just found a Starfarer movie. If you want to watch something else, it's fine."

"No, no, no, I love Starfarer movies. It's a bit different watching them now, since I know that the main actor is actually my dad, but in my eyes it makes it that much better. Which one is this?"

"Um, the third I think," I respond, making the smile on his face grow.

"This one is my absolute favorite. It didn't use to be, but now it is. I'll point out my favorite part when it comes up," he tells me. I take that as my cue to start the movie.

It picks up where the last one left off, so it cuts off a lot of the boring build up most of the movies we've watched have. Jay quotes the movie word for word under his breath in between bites of cotton candy. Last time we all watched a movie together, Kai told Jay that him doing that was annoying, but I find it endearing.

Slowly as the movie goes on, Jay and I get closer until our arms are nearly touching. I start to zone out of the movie and focus my attention on our proximity. I can feel the electricity gently prickling off his skin, urging me to touch him. It's so tempting, but I refrain, grabbing a handful of popcorn instead.

"Ooo, ooo, ooo, this is my favorite part," Jay says excitedly, gently bouncing up and down. I watch as Fritz Donnegan stands in front of Queen Andromeda, discussing how he's going to protect her kingdom from the evil space invaders.

"I fear their leader had a soft spot for you, my queen. He may attempt to steal you," he informs her, still in a gentle bow.

"I believe that you will not allow him to do that. Even if he manages to, he will not be able to steal my heart," she responds, looking into his eyes.

"Why is that?"

"Because you already have," she responds, an adoring smile on her face. It seems so genuine.

"My dad wouldn't let them cast anyone for Queen Andromeda except my mom. He said he wouldn't even pretend to be in love with another woman," Jay gives some brief context, a small smile on his face. "It's nice to see how much they cared about each other."

"That's your mom?" I ask, my eyes slightly wide. The two people on the screen converse some more, slowly getting closer, before she pulls him in by the collar of his shirt to give him a kiss, something I've learnt about from the movies we've watched. At first, it lead to an awkward conversation, but now it all makes sense.

"Well, obviously she doesn't really have pink hair and purple skin, but yeah," he answers. Once the movie cuts to another scene, I pause the movie. Jay seems confused.

"I've been wondering about something," I tell him, my nerves bubbling up inside of me.

"Ask away, just make sure to save the hard stuff for Kai," he says, throwing in a semi awkward laugh at the end.

"If Skylor wanted to tell Kai she liked him, what should she have done?" I ask, gently biting the inside of my lip in an attempt to dissipate my nerves.

"Well, first she should've switched sides, since he probably wouldn't have enjoyed it if she stayed on that side, but hey it's Kai so who knows. After switching sides, she should've made sure Kai was interested, which he clearly was, before just telling him I guess. Why?" he answers casually, missing where I'm going.

Sighing, I take his hands in mine. The mere contact derails my train of though, distracting me with the sparks flooding through me. I'm able to bring myself back into the situation and look him in the eyes, which nearly makes me melt.

"Because I like you Jay, and I want you to know. I've liked you for a long time, but I haven't known what to say. Being around you, it's unlike being around anyone else. You...you make me a happy I've never felt before. You showed me kindness even when you were kidnapped, and you showed me the truth. That night in front of the police station, I knew there was something special between us, and it's only grown since then."

"Nya, I...," he drifts off, unsure of what to say.

"I'm sorry, I just thought..."

"No, no, no, I like you too, a lot," he reassures me, making my heart go crazy. "It's just so hard to put into words. You...you're just so smart, and kind, and beautiful, and funny, and driven, and everything about you is so...wow." His words cause the blush to rise to my cheeks.

"You almost kissed me the first day I got here right, before Cole walked in?"

"Y-yeah, wh..." I cut him off by pressing my lips against his. Immediately, my body is flooded with a surge of electricity, humming through my veins. His touch pulls me closer. My hands move to the back of his neck, tangling themselves in his hair.

My heart beats rapidly the entire time. Everything inside of me enjoys this moment. His lips move against mine, and mine fall in sync. While I know it's a bit awkward considering it's my first kiss, it's still absolutely amazing. Every fiber in my body is drawn to him even more.

When we pull apart, our eyes automatically meet. The intensity of his gaze sends shivers throughout my whole body. "I just though that we should finish what we started," I shrug innocently. He looks so overwhelmed that he can't say anything. It adds to the smile on my face. Slowly, his hands find their way back to mine, intertwining together.

"Nya, will you...will you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?" he asks nervously.

"Of course," I answer, pulling him in for a hug. Immediately, his arms wrap around my waist while mine go around the back of his neck. He nuzzles his face into my neck, building the amount of contact and the amount of his power that is running through me.

I gently pull his head back, so I can press my lips against his once again. We stay like that for the rest of the night, a tangled mess of closeness and kisses. The movie doesn't get turned back on.

A/N FINALLY AM I RIGHT? In the original plan for the story, they weren't supposed to get together for another 24 chapters and I was just confused when I saw it. Like what? Past me what were you thinking?

Every time I write a kissing scene, I feel like I'm going to be so much better at it than I am since I've had a boyfriend for so long, but nope 😪

Also, now that Nya has been in Ninjago for over a month and a half, she's learned a lot more and will be a lot less naive than the rest of the girls. So in case you're ever like "how does Nya know that?" she most likely either asked Kai or Jay about it or looked it up herself

Thoughts on the chapter?

Well, I have online school to attend (blegh) but I hope you guys enjoy this chapter and have a nice rest of your days
