Chapter 3 Piper's POV
Flashback

Piper sat on the couch, playing with the new doll her father, Tristan McLean, had bought her. She was eight years old. Piper's mother, Aphrodite McLean brushed her hair while telling her a story about her now-dead grandparents.
"They were marvelous people, my mother and father." Aphrodite started. "They lived here, in this very house, they believed in fairness and the right to keep things they already owned. The king back then was the father of the King right now. They were arrogant people. They got whatever they want. I was just a child when my father was ordered to die. We didn't know why." Piper's mother sighed.
"We found out that it was because he didn't allow the kingdom to take me to be a slave. A brave man, my father was. He died that day. The day we found out." A tear traced down her cheek. "Piper, remember, whatever happens to this family, we are still one. Wreck vengeance on the King only when he has killed one of us. That is how my mother died, but she told me, she was proud."
"I promise, mama," little Piper said.
A month later from that little talk, the King went out to examine this town. He saw Aphrodite and fell in love with her. He forced her into unwanted marriage. Tristan didn't allow this. The two men argued and the King, murdered him, right there in the house. Aphrodite screamed. She committed suicide the next day, telling her daughter that she loved her and gave her a map to a family friend's house: Athena Chase's. The little girl got one last gift from her mother, a golden necklace with a shell on it. Aphrodite gave her daughter one last kiss and committed suicide.
Not only for avoiding marriage with the king, also to be with her beloved husband again.
Piper ran. She ran for 1 hour. And stopped to cry. She continued her journey in tears, clutching the necklace her mother had given her. She arrived to the house and lived there for the rest of her childhood. Eight years later, she's sixteen and wants revenge.

Piper closes her eyes slowly, a tear escaping her eyes, running down her cheek. She sighs. The prince was more handsome than she thought. But she can't trust a man again. Besides, he's the son of the man who murdered her father. She trusted one a month ago and he sold her out. The reported where she was and the palace guards almost got her. How could this man be any different? Little did she know, Jason was very different.
