R:6 - 3: Endless

Seth was furious.

"How the fuck did you let her eat FIVE SLICES?!" Seth shouted at the group.

"Would you have been able to stop her?" Ren asked, but everyone coughed, making Ren look up and see Seth in his Reaper form.

"Fair enough."

"Ugh. I don't even have the energy to congratulate you all." Seth sighed, making Ruby recall what Ironwood said.

"Oh, yeah. He didn't give you your license..." Ruby muttered disheartened.

"Don't worry about me. I'm a free spirit. I do whatever I want." Seth crossed his arms.

"Yeah, keep dreaming." Harriet replied, walking in with her own arms crossed. Seth sent her a condescending leer, and she grit her teeth— her eye twitching in response.

"Wait, let me get this straight. You guys have been huntsmen for an hour and you already want work?" Elm asked.

"To be fair, we've been official for..." Weiss checked her Scroll, making Seth chuckle. "...fifty seven minutes." Weiss sighed.

"Might I remind you all that the real mission here is ensuring the successful launch of the communications tower." Vine reminded.

"I'm not sure if you've heard, but we aren't construction workers. Best we can do is keep Grimm at bay." Seth countered.

"He's right. We can also keep training and improving where we can." Ren agreed.

"Ah~, the enthusiasm of youths!" Elm cheered with vigor.

"Hard to argue with that." Marrow shrugged. "Okay, let me show you how it works." He walked over to the holographic screen and began scrolling.

"Oh. Here's an important one. Who wants to volunteer?" Marrow asked, and everyone but Seth shot up their hands with the enthusiasm Elm was talking about.

"We need to escort children to pre-primary school down in Mantle. There's not actually any danger, but the parents fret and that attracts Grimm," Marrow turned back to see that Jaune was the only one with his hand up, too slow to retract it unlike the others.

"Oh... Juan... Jwan? Jim?" Marrow tried... or maybe he didn't.

"Close enough," Jaune shook his head, "Wow, my first huntsman mission." He whispered to himself.

Marrow was suddenly force-palmed away by Elm as she scrolled down.

"NEXT! A massive Sabyr is loose in the Mantle sewers. We need two brave warriors to flush it out!" Elm shouted, making everyone throw their hands up again.

"You've gotta be kidding me." Jaune groaned, making the others laugh at his misfortune.

Seth realized that with all the huntsmen business going on, he wasn't needed, and so, he waved to the others.

"I'll go offer my illegal help elsewhere you guys. Good luck with the missions." Seth waved, making RWBY saddened to see him alone.

"Can he tag with us?" Ruby asked, pointing at Seth, which made him stop.

"No." The four Ace Ops replied immediately.

Seth smirked, and decided to play along. "No, no. It's alright, Ruby, really. It's not like I want to help Atlas and Mantle. After all. I'm just some Grimm-Human hybrid that these... Ace Ops... can't handle." Seth shrugged, giving the four a wink as he left.

"I really can't stand that guy." Harriet muttered.

Ruby glanced at her team, and they all smiled back at him.

Seth made several appearances around the two teams. With his wings, it made travel fairly easy, and fending off supply runs and the city's perimeter alongside his friends efficient.

The routine was rather lonely for him, since he was given a much smaller room far from his friends. He only saw them on missions, and never had time to talk.

He became a city-wide vigilante, and he was in small talk all over town.

Seth knew his friends were living their dreams as Huntsmen, and it was all he could ask for them.

Dawn was around less, seeing as she was kind of important as a Half-Maiden. So he saw her much more rarely than the others.

Seth returned to his small, nearly closet-sized room with torn clothes, ashes, sometimes snow, and once, even his own blood from an overwhelming scuffle with a horde of Manticores.

In his boredom, Seth tried to expand his powers.

He did so successfully.

Soul Reconstruction was pretty easy. Instead of consuming the Aura of a Soul, he reworked it, fine tuning that protecting to make the Soul more powerful.

In doing so... Seth was reunited with a familiar face, but it would take more time to get them back on their feet...

Seth was tailing after a supply run that Ruby, Qrow, Clover, and Penny were on. It was the last mission of the day, and he was bored out of his mind.

However, that was until the truck suddenly stopped near the canyon out of Mantle's range. A group of two stood in front of blockade, making Seth groan.

"Ugh. It's not Grimm. Can't kill." Seth sighed, and cross one leg over the other as he leaned back, slowly hovering down.

Seth watched as Clover and the woman talked, and his whistle seeing the blonde was almost heard by Ruby. Eventually Penny uncovered the two others approaching from behind the truck, and it was dissolved by her presence.

"Damn. That's it?" Seth whispered. "At least I know her name... She's hot." Seth stretched as the truck began to take off.

Taking off with a boom, Robyn Hill looked up in confusion, but only found a slip of paper with Seth's number on it.

Seth landed in the training facility and saw two Summons from Weiss and Winter, a Alpha Beowolf and a white Knight.

As soon as he arrived, the fight ended with the Beowolf clawing the Knight's head off, just as the Knight stabbed its chest: a tie.

"Woah. I'll never get used to that." Seth commented, catching the two's attention.

"Seth!" Weiss called, shooting him a smile.

"Oh. It's the gnat." Winter sighed.

"Hello, ma'am~. How are you this fine evening?" Seth asked, making Weiss glare. "Don't flirt with my sister. I'll hurt you." Weiss spat.

"I am not flirting. I am simply wondering how she is doing. Being burdened with all that responsibility must be tiring." Seth said with sass, dramatizing every last syllable.

Both Schnee's rolled their eyes, but Seth switched topics.

"How is everyone? It's been tame lately, so I've only been down in Mantle." Seth asked.

"We've been great. The jobs have been keeping us busy, and it lets our training hone itself with that extra edge." Weiss described.

"Great. How about training? Any cool new combos?" Seth asked, making Weiss go on a rant.

Winter watched the two catching up with each other, and smiled, happy to see Weiss had someone so close. But then she realized... He was close with her. A boy. A threat.

Winter grabbed Seth's arm as the two shared a laugh, making them suddenly stop.

"What is your relationship and intentions with my sister?" Winter probed, leering down at him.

"She is a very mature, stern young woman I have the privilege of calling a good a friend, and I would love to get to know her more." Seth replied stoically.

Weiss' face flushed red and Winter's glare grew sharper.

"Seth! Don't say it like that! Unless you're serious— then say it again..." Weiss admit.

"I simply realize I should appreciate what I have left from what I lost. I didn't treat you guys the best back at Beacon, despite you all being nothing but kind." Seth shrugged, making Weiss cover her cheeks.

"Don't mess with her... you're Grimm— so don't think for a second I won't kill you the moment you break her heart." Winter crossed her arms making Seth confused.

"Wait, does that mean I have your permission to... you kn—" "NOT ANOTHER WORD!" Weiss shouted, yanking him away and running off.

Winter watched with a scowl, but whined seeing Weiss' reaction to the claim. "I forget... she's a train wreck with boys."

Seth and the others were back in the Training room, however he was left to his own devices, floating above them as they trained.

With the arrival of Ironwood and Clover, Seth appeared beside them with a bored glare.

"How's the election, boss man." Seth asked, growing sick of the stale cycle.

Ironwood waited for the others to gather around, and held up the current poll, and it was 30 - Jacques, 70 - Robyn.

"Better Robyn than Jacques..." Ruby shrugged.

"The pretty lady is winning, so I am too." Seth agreed, earning glares that he ignored.

"Regardless. I'm ordering you the night off." Ironwood began, and Clover followed up. "These past weeks have been filled with work and more work. You're fresh out the gate, and you've done all you can for this city. You deserve it."

Seth glanced at the others, and saw their faces grow lighter, appreciative of the much needed night of restoration. Seth smirked, and walked away to tend to himself.

However, he was wondering how Maia was doing as of late...

"Come on..." Seth groaned as his hands weaved and winded threads of blue. The shards of a Soul took time to manipulate, and reforming the Soul back to its original shape and form was difficult.

Seth was at this for the last two weeks, and the fruits of his efforts came in the form of a pair of bunny ears.

"Please have your memories. Please have your memories—"

"Seth?" He heard her voice.

With a gasp, Seth looked up and saw a ghastly figure, Laura in spectral form, bound to his being. She looked at him with teary eyes, but they dispersed after they fell.

The two cried as Seth fell down to his knees, and Laura wrapped him in a hug, since her body was only tangible to him.

After filling her in, revealing his powers, and crying some more, Laura was analyzing her new form with a frown.

"Man. This is a trip." She shook her head and looked at Seth, who put away the strings of another Soul.

"I'm gonna work on Kaitlyn later, but I wanna check in with the others— see what their plans are." Seth informed.

"Can they see me? Hear me?" Laura asked, hoping for the best.

"I don't think so... Maybe now that you're complete they can, but previous trials say otherwise." Seth stated.

"Previous trials? I'm not the first?" Laura asked in shock.

"Well... there's someone I'd like you to meet." Seth rubbed his nape as his first successful Soul Reconstruction test made her appearance.

"Meet Summer. No idea who she is though." Seth introduced, the woman with the spectral cloak taking off the hood to reveal a women of maturer resemblance to Ruby.

"For the thousandth time, I'm Ruby's mother. You've seen her countless times since you've brought me back!" The woman shouted in annoyance.

"Yeah, I get that... she was lucky number 247 of the Souls I tried. So her importance is lost on me." Seth continued, ignoring her.

Summer groaned and punched his head repeatedly. Laura was confused by the companion, but hearing that she was Ruby's mom was intriguing.

"How is everyone?" Laura asked.

"Let's go see. I hear your daughter's going to a party or... something." Seth teased, making Summer gasp. "What?! My baby's going to parties?! Who's going to be there?!" Summer pestered him with questions as he made his way to the door.

"Let's go see."

Laura was just happy to be back. Even if she was just stuck with Seth, that was all she could ask for.

Seth landed in RWBY's room as JNOR arrived as well.

"Oh. My timing is amazing as always." Seth joked.

"Hey, Seth." Blake greeted.

"What's everyone's plans? I'm sick of being confined." Seth asked, and Summer was intent on hearing about her daughter.

"Oscar and I were gonna hit the movies." Jaune replied. "Yang and I were invited by Team FNKI to a dance party." Blake added. Seth glanced at Blake and smirked before turning to Yang.

"Record every second of it." Seth asked her. "You know damn well I will." Yang smirked.

"What's that supposed to mean?!" Blake shouted at him, but he turned away.

"Ruby?" Seth asked.

"A victory party for Robyn Hill. I'm going with Nora and Ren right now actually." Ruby smiled. "Oh, pretty lady. Nice. Give her my regards... wait, she never called me..." Seth mumbled the last bit.

"Go with my daughter— go with my daughter!" Summer urged.

"What are your plans, Weiss?" Seth asked, making her jolt in surprise.

"Well. I've actually got... nothing going on." Weiss said bashfully, fluttering her eyes as he gazed at her.

"Nice. Say, if you can wait, wanna watch a movie later? I want to check out Robyn Hill's party too." Seth asked. Weiss would have rather it have been sooner, but she took the offer nonetheless.

"Gladly. Be sure to text me when you're free." Weiss nodded, making Seth smile as he head for the door.

"See you guys there!" Seth hopped up, and disappeared with a gust of wind.

Nora sent Weiss a glance, her face growing smug by the second. Weiss ignored her, placing her hands on hips.

"Don't say—" "You've got a crush~" Nora teased, making Jaune and Oscar chuckle.

Though smiling, RBY were feeling mixed emotions by the accusation, but seeing Weiss' blush sealed the deal.
