Chapter 5|| God Why Do You Punish Me So!?

Evie's POV

"So since you chose the rules, I choose the activity." Chloe checked, looking deadly serious.

"Yep." I nodded, popping the 'p'.

I sat next to her on her bed and looked for my phone. It was situated about four meters away from me on her bedside table. I sighed.

Too far away.

After a couple of minutes of staring at my extremely interesting shoes, Chloe broke the silence.

"Let's do some boxing!" Her eyes lit up like a child's on Christmas Day.

You say what?

"I can't believe I'm going through with this." I mumbled incoherently.

"It's exercise, Evie. You know what's going to happen if you don't exercise?"

"Enlighten me Sherlock." I hissed.

"You'll get fat, boys won't like you, and you'll be made fun of by everyone else."

"I have a question then. When have I ever done exercise? I'm not fat." I guessed I was just lucky that now one apart from my Aunt Camilla was a little overweight, so getting fat wasn't in my genes. Lucky for me...I was the biggest couch potato in the history of couch potatoes.

"Well, your lucky. No one in your family is obese! Not a single person. Whereas I have to do all that fudging exercise."

"Well, why couldn't you ask your mom to drive us?"

Chloe just stormed off.

"So, here are some boxing gloves. Your trainer is waiting in Ring Three. That's down the corridor, turn left, then right and then forward. Any questions?" I stared, trying to hide my disgust, at the punk in front of me. (I think I'll call her Punky.) Her hair was greased and dyed into black, pink and green respectively. She was clearly trying to hide her disgust too. I mean, what would two teenage girls want with boxing? You could understand if it was boys but we had both clearly proven we were girls.

Scientifically proven.

"You forgotten how to talk or something? I said, any questions?" I could feel goosebumps on my skin.

"No. We'll get moving." Chloe replied, confidently. She grabbed my wrist and began dragging me towards the corridor.

"Oh, and by the way. Don't try anything on your trainer, he's mine." Punky snarled and pointed at her heart for emphasis.

Let's just say we walked away pretty fast from her.

"I can't actually believe I agreed to this." I moaned.

We were lost. We were so wrapped up with how much Punky was scaring us we forgot what she told us. Right then Left? Left then Right? Who knows?

We found ourselves in a dark room. There was a clear stench of tobacco and alcohol. Various graffitied words had been painted on the walls. The whole room gave off this eerie vibe.

"Well, look what the cat dragged in?" A cold voice called from my right. Immediately, Chloe and I pivoted to try and find the voice.

"Something new to punch, huh?"

"This is all your fault. If you hadn't set the ground rules we would never be here." Chloe hissed.

I put my hands on my hips.

"Well, I wasn't the person with the idea to get Zach and I hooked up, was I? That was you." The creepiness of the room dissipated. So much so that the voices didn't even utter another sound.

"Excuse me, creepy voices, turn on the lights." Chloe demanded.

Pin-drop silence.

Suddenly, big floodlights were switched on by the side. The whole room came to life. Various fans started to buzz and turn. In fact, I had not realized how big the room actually was: there were two sets of metal stairs by the side leading up to what looked like a chillaxing room; three red, massive boxing rings in the middle and punching bags on the side. There were also some dumbbells and fitness stuff by the side. One of the rings was labelled 'Ring 3' so we were in the right place.

Two men walked out of the shadows. And one was extremely familiar...

Zach.
