Nightpaw padded uncertainly through the dark corridors of  Darkclan's camp, or rather, cave. Whenever she heard voices she dimmed her rings, and it was when she dimmed her rings a third time when a paw clamped over her mouth. Nightpaw struggled to get away but the paw held fast. And then..

"Nightpaw stop! It's ok, it's just me!" a voice whispered frantically. Starstep! Nightpaw thought, relieved. She stopped struggling and Starstep let her go. "I had to do that so you wouldn't give away our position." Starstep said apologetically, "sorry.."

"Its fine!" Nightpaw purred, "I'm so relieved to find you here!" Starstep nodded.

"How did you find me?" Starstep inquired. Nightpaw smiled.

"I got the Umbreon to riot." she explained. "when they realized they didn't want to kill me, I convinced them to tie up Darkstar and Mooneye, and lead me here." Starstep smiled too. That's Nightpaw for you! she thought happily.

"We've got to get out of here," Starstep lit up her rings slightly, "follow me." She darted ahead, leading the way like a torch in the darkness, her bright rings glowing. Nightpaw dimmed her own rings and ran after her. In no time they burst into blinding sunlight. Ten umbreons blinked at them for a second, before cheering.

"Nightpaw did it!" one cried,

"She's amazing!" said another,

"I bet she used telepathy to find her!" yelped another. All the umbreons stared at him.

"Actually," murmured Nightpaw, "She kinda found me-"

"Shh, let them have their fun," laughed Starstep, "it can be incredibly boring around here, and this is probably the most fun they've had in months!" Nightpaw looked over the crowd of smiling and laughing umbreons. She felt her heart give a little squeeze. Nightpaw turned to Starstep. 

"I- I love it here, really, but I have to get home-"

"-to Lightclan." Starstep finished for her. "I know. And that's why I want to go with you."

"You do?" gasped Nightpaw, astonished. 

"Oh, unless you don't want me too.." Starstep shuffled her paws. Nightpaw laughed.

"Of course I want you to come!" Nightpaw gasped, almost crying from happiness. Startstep laughed, and ran forward, wrapping herself around Nightpaw. She licked Nightpaw's shoulder lovingly. 

"Oh nightpaw.. But-but won't your mother be upset?" Starstep asked worriedly, "and your mentor?" Nightpaw hung her head.

"M-my mother.. She's dead.." Whispered Nightpaw. Starstep gasped. 

"Oh Nightpaw! I'm so sorry!" She cried. "If you don't mind me asking," Starstep ventured, "h-how did she die?" Nightpaw sighed. 

"She sacrificed herself to save the clan. She was critically injured, and died just after giving birth to me. She destroyed the phantom killing our clan, but died in the process." Starstep saw the glint of tears rolling down Nightpaw's face. 

"Oh Nightpaw.." Starstep leaned forward and licked the tears off the apprentice's face. "Let's go home." Home. The word sounded so sweet in Nightpaw's head. 

"Ok." Nightpaw smiled, "ok let's go home." 

Psypelt padded out of the den. He looked left and right.  I must right my wrong. He began to lift the spell he had put on his clanmates. They had to remember Sagepelt. They had to remember Nightpaw. His eyes started to glow white. He levitated off the ground. The spell was almost lifted when something slammed into his side, throwing Psypelt onto the ground. His eyes faded back to normal. He twisted onto his back to see Lightstar standing over him.

"Well well well," chuckled lightstar. "I thought I smelled a rattata." Psypelt tried to scramble to his feet but lightstar shoved him back down. "When did you decide to betray me loyal minion? You've helped me come so far.." She caressed his cheek with her ribbons.

"I-I wasn't!" Psypelt protested. The ribbons were now curling around his neck. Lightstar laughed, then her eyes turned red. The ribbons that weren't twisted around psypelt's neck flowed menacingly around Lightstar. 

"Any last words?" She growled evilly, her voice sounding raspy and gravelly.

"I-" Psypelt choked, the ribbons started squeezing. He tried to choke out more words, but all that came out were coughs. Lightstar was grinning evilly, her eyes glowing red. Psypelt's lungs screamed, and the world turned black.

...

"STOP!!!!" Screamed a voice. Lightstar heard the sound of paws running towards her, and before she could react, She was slammed to the ground, her ribbons yanked off of psypelt's neck. The espeon took a ragged breath, then another. Nightpaw stood in front of him, breathing heavily. "MURDERER!!!! TRAITOR!!!! LYING CHARLATAN!!!!!!" She roared. The clan started waking up. "SHADOWBALL!!!!" Nightpaw yelled, realesing the attack. Lightstar screamed as the black orb slammed into her. 

"N-Nightpaw?" Rasped Psypelt. Nightpaw whirled around. 

"Psypelt! Are you ok?" Nightpaw gasped. Starstep ran into the camp, skidding to a halt beside Nightpaw. Psypelt coughed. 

"Ugh.." He groaned, "yea I'm ok.. But you have to know something! Your clanmates.. They don't remember you!"

"What?" Gasped Nightpaw. "How?!" 

"I-I cast a spell on them.. for Lighstar. She ordered to have you killed by Darkclan. I followed her blindly. I'm a fool." 

"Even Sagelpelt? Even Sagepelt doesn't remember me? Chillypelt? Sparkfang..?" Psypelt looked at the ground.

"Sagepelt remembered you. I didn't cast the spell on them. The others you mentioned.. No.. Lighstar chained up Sagepelt. We have different medicine Eevee now." 

"Remembered? Past tense? Why past tense?! WHY-"

"BECAUSE SHES DEAD!!!!!" Psypelt yelled. The shout echoed through the camp. She's dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. Nightpaw stood frozen, eyes gazing off into the distance. 

"Oh Nightpaw.." Sagepelt gasped. Psypelt panted.

"I'm sorry, but it's true." He said, surprised that he had gotten so angry. Nightpaw kept staring into the distance, and then she sank to her knees.

"No.." She whispered. "NOOOOO!!!!" She buried her head between her paws and started sobbing. The scent of Sagepelt filled her nose and she felt fur brush her side. She looked up, and saw a ghostly Sagepelt, with stars in her fur. 

"Do not mourn my dear," she whispered in Nightpaw's ear, "I will always be with you.." Her image started fading.

"No Sagepelt don't go!" Screamed Nightpaw. 

"Do not grieve..." 

"Nightpaw!" Something shook her back into reality. 

"W-wha?" Asked Nightpaw. Starstep was leaning over her. 

"You blacked out!" The umreon gasped. "Uh oh... Look!" Nightpaw looked to where Starstep was pointing. She gasped. Lightstar was struggling to her feet.

"INTRUDERS!!!!!" She yelled, "LIGHTCLAN!!! ATTACK!!!!!!!"
