Umbrella Academy Timeline

Ben walked through the corridors of the abandoned Umbrella Academy. He looked thoughtfully at the pictures and paintings on the walls. "How and why did I die again?", Ben asked himself aloud. He tried to remember.

Flashback: October 14. 2006

At the Umbrella Academy. ... "Swing your feet, kids! We have a mission! Number One, round up the kids!" Sir Reginald Hargreeve's voice rang out. "Come on, get your butts in gear!" Luther shouted. Then he passed Diego. "My man, Diego," said Luther and patted Diego on the shoulder. "My ass is always on the move," Diego replied. "Guys, hurry up! Come on!" Luther shouted through the corridors of the Umbrella Academy.

Teenager Allison squats in a bathroom and tries to pull Klaus out of the bathtub. "You can't be serious! You've only just been in rehab!" Allison grumbled to a drunken teenage Klaus. "I only take the good drugs, Allison." laughed Klaus. Allison continued to try and drag Klaus out of the bath. Luther, meanwhile, stood at the doorway and watched the back and forth between Klaus and Allison for a minute. "Come on, guys, hurry up. Dad's waiting," Luther said sternly. Then he went on.

The teenager Ben was sitting on his bed reading one of his books. (Viktor), then still the boy Vanya, stood in front of Ben's mirror and put on a domino mask. Luther stepped into the room. "Ben. Get dressed!" Luther said frantically. Luther stepped into the room when he saw that Ben was not at all ready for action. "I'm not coming with you." Ben said. "But then we'll be missing one," said Luther. "No stress. Vanya will go for me," Ben replied. "I want to help too," said Vanya seriously and hopefully.

Luther hesitates. "Dad!", Luther shouted. "Snitch," said Ben. Sir Reginald Hargreeves now entered Ben's room too. "Number six. Why didn't you move?" Reginald asked Ben. "He says he's not coming with us," Luther answered for Ben. Reginald Hargreeves turned briefly to Luther and scowled at Ben. Ben pursed his lips in dismay and stood up.

Then Reginald Hargreeves turned to Vanya. "And what are you going to do now?", Reginald Hargreeves asked the young Vanya. "I thought I could help with this mission," replied the young Vanya. A little uncertain now. Reginald Hargreeves looked at the young Vanya insistently. "Take that off immediately! You look ridiculous," Reginald Hargreeves said gruffly to the young Vanya and left the room. Vanya took off her mask and hung her head dejectedly. Then Vanya looked after Reginald.

In the living room, Reginald Hargreeves stood in front of a blackboard and his adopted children sat on the sofa listening to their adoptive father. "A Moldovan arms dealer has a deadly new weapon in his possession. It is stored in a shipping container because it is to be sold. Your mission is to find and destroy the weapon before it can be sold. Number One takes the lead," said Reginald Hargreeves. "And what do I do? What should I do?" Diego asked hopefully. "Don't ask so many questions," said Reginald.

Then he looked at everyone in turn. "And, kids, no matter what happens, the most important thing is that the gun stays under lock and key. Under no circumstances. ... Under no circumstances will you open the container. Do you understand that?" Reginald Hargreeves warned his children. Luther nods. "All right, then. Come on then, kids." said Reginald Hargreeves.

The roof of the Umbrella Academy opened. A plane with a flattened, rounded fuselage rose out of the building. Its wings spread out as it left the walls. Pogo the chimpanzee was at the wheel, wearing a helmet. "Buckle up, kids. Get ready for take-off," said Pogo. The roof closed again as soon as the plane had taken off. The plane flew away. In the darkness, it flew through a cloud of haze over a production plant and landed.

In their mission suits and domino masks, the Umbrella's crept through a huge warehouse. In the light of their flashlights, the siblings moved past crates and barrels. Luther led the way. Suddenly he stopped and raised his hand, the group stopped. "Guards at nine o'clock," Luther whispered. Guards passed behind a corner and then disappeared from view.

Luther leads the others on through a labyrinth of stacked crates and other objects. They moved towards a large, capsule-shaped container. There was a hatch at the top and a ladder on the side. "Yes, this is it. Go, go!" Luther spoke excitedly.

The Umbrella's opened a box containing two metal devices and two large keys. Diego hands Ben one of the devices and the key. The boys looked up when they heard something. "Guys!" Luther called out softly. "Go on. I'll do this," Ben said quietly but firmly. "Ben. Are you sure?" asked Luther. "Yes, of course!", Ben replied. "Okay. Diego, Allison, Klaus, you come with me. Come on!" Luther ordered. The siblings left Ben at the container.

Ben uses the key to wind up the device. Then he attaches the device to the container. He presses a button. Suddenly, Ben heard something strange and turned the device off again and listened to the container with his ear. "Is someone in there?" Ben asked cautiously. Two muffled thuds could be heard from inside. Ben climbed up the ladder on the side of the container. He knelt down and turned the large wheel on the hatch. He removed the lid and looked inside the container.

What Ben saw in the container was a dark-haired girl. "Are you ok? I want to help you. What's your name?" Ben asked, somewhat surprised. When he saw the girl locked in the container. The girl looked up at Ben uncertainly at first. "Jennifer", the girl replies. Ben takes off his mask. "My name is Ben." he introduced himself. "And I'm going to get you out of here, okay?" Ben promised. "Do you trust me?", Ben asked. The girl called Jennifer nodded. "Take my hand," Ben said and held out his hand to Jennifer.

Suddenly, Ben's siblings were back. "Ben, what the hell are you doing?" asked Luther, perplexed. Ben turned around. "There's someone in there. We have to get them out." Ben tried to explain. "That wasn't the plan," Luther replied. "So what? Do you want to blow up a little girl?" Ben asked reproachfully. "But Dad said..." Luther was interrupted by Ben. "I don't care what Dad said! We have to help her," said Ben, determined to save Jennifer.

"Ben wait!" Luther tried to stop Ben. "Shit!" Luther cursed. "Dad? We've got a problem." Luther reported over the radio to his ear. "Dad?", Luther asked again. But all he heard was static. Ben reached into the container. Suddenly, flashes and waves of energy appeared back and forth between Jennifer and Ben's hands as they touched. Flames flared up. Wearing a long white dress, Jennifer climbed out of the container with Ben's help.

Outside, Jennifer smiled gratefully at Ben. "Okay, let's get out of here. Ben." Luther hurried to say. But he was too slow. Before the Umbrella's knew it. Jennifer was shot. She fell lifeless to the ground. Everyone was terrified. But before they could recover from the shock, Ben was also shot. Ben let out his last scream before he himself fell lifeless to the ground next to Jennifer, who was already dead. The rest of the Umbrella siblings looked up and saw who had shot Ben and Jennifer.

It was Reginald Hargreeves. He looked at the Umbrella Academy in disappointment. "I told you not to open the container." Reginald Hargreeves spoke disappointed. Luther looked at Reginald Hargreeves, who was still holding the gun. "Dad?", Luther asked, still a little shocked. He and the rest didn't understand why this had just happened. ... Review end.

Umbrella Academy Timeline

"Why did Dad do that?", Ben asked thoughtfully, looking at a picture of Reginald Hargreeves hanging on the wall. Thoughtfully, he continued down the corridor and then disappeared into Reginald Hargreeves' office. Ben was determined to find out why Reginald Hargreeves had killed him and Jennifer. ...
