Q&A #9-Writing Process
Question: What is your writing process, do you just get an idea typed or do you do it all at once? (Asked by ryuzaki_pagu) (Well I'm assuming it was suppose to say typed instead of type.)
I write like I draw; shitty and unpredictable.
I don't really have a "process". It's mainly just, "Ok, but imagine this." And something happens? I either jot something down on docs to remember it, or if I love the idea so much, I sit there for hours typing from beginning to end.
Sometimes if it's short, I just write it out without worrying about grammar or if the sentences are choppy, like a sketch. And then I go back through and as I read it I make adjustments like more descriptions, more flow-y sentences, so on. If I've learned anything from Torn into Two, it's "Proofread your work or it's gonna look like shit." Like I'll go on chapter 5 or something and find a sentence that has so many problems that I could have fixed, but didn't because I was 13 and didn't care about that, I just wanted it published. Like, writing is some form of art to me, like make it presentable or readers won't stick.
For chaptered stories, I get a general idea, think of a few major plot points, and then bullshit my way to each of those points. Or come up with stuff as I go along. Like, honestly, I know the ending of 'Why Do I Love You?', but I have no idea what's gonna happen between now and then. I have like, 2 ideas. 'I Hate Everything About You' is the physical form of bullshitting my way through something while making it work, somewhat. If I had planned it out, Umber probably wouldn't have been put in the hospital or fatally injured so much (But I'm fixing that with WDILY!! No one's been in the hospital yet and it's after chapter 10! I deserve a prize).
To summarize my "writing process" in a single sentence: "I'm gonna do a thing."
