0% Power
I couldn't believe my earballs.
"You what-"
Yoongi interrupted my question with a frustrated sigh and sifted his hand through his hair, "I've lost my powers, Briar!" he exasperated, roughly situating himself into the chair across from the bed. If I had a dollar for every time I'd seen him in that chair with that expression I would....have about five dollars, unfortunately.
I turned in the bed to look over at him flatly, "No need to get your panties twisted in your grand canyon, Yoongi." I responded, adding, "Besides, it probably happened because you were too busy dwindling around with the fairies to actually do your job."
Yoongi turned towards me with his eyebrows perched high into his forehead, obviously in pure disbelief of my comment. He pointed his finger at me, "You, out of all people, are accusing me," he switched the finger to face his chest, "Of not doing my job." Dropping his finger to his side, he let out a disbelieving snort and shook his head.
"Yeah well," I countered with a scoff, " last time I checked you were supposed to be helping me."
Yoongi's eyes narrowed, "And I have helped you. We both know you wouldn't be here if I hadn't helped you."
I went to counter his claim, but stopped myself.
He had a point, really. He had rewritten all the scenes in which I had fucked up terribly and that could have ended in my death - or at least, removal from the story - I had no clue which. It's just that he was always there to rewrite, but not to actually help. Like I had said since the beginning, what was my purpose here if Yoongi could just rewrite everything?
"Yeah, Okay, whatever." I mumbled, surrendering to the argument and making him the winner. He'd probably just tell me that rewriting the story was helping and the conversation would go around in a big old circle.
Noticing my silence, Yoongi spoke.
"It has nothing to do with me, Briar." His eyes searched the carpet aimlessly.
"Lemme guess," I joked sarcastically, "it's because I'm here and keep ruining everything."
Yoongi sat back in the chair and exhaled loudly before looking me in the eyes again. "Do you remember how in the original story, there were mostly just scenes of Taehyung and Y/N, and barely any background plot?"
I nodded. I did remember. I was expecting death, smoking, and the removal of limbs from the original story, but that's not what I got. All I got after Y/N's kidnapping was Taehyung and Y/N smut scenes. Nothing in the background plot made sense - it was all mumble jumble and loose plot ends that went nowhere.
It still had 5 million reads on it, though.
"Do you think," Yoongi continued, "that the story would have worked if not for the romance aspect?"
"Probably not." I surmised, waiting patiently for him to get to the point as I lay there on Jin's bed.
"Exactly, because Y/N and Taehyung's romance was the only thing holding the book together." Yoongi sounded as if he had just solved the worlds biggest mystery but I was still confused as to where he was getting to.
"And?"
Yoongi scowled in frustration at my lack of understanding. "Don't you get it?"
"Um...No?"
He bounded forward in the chair and gestured towards me with both of his hands, "The reason why the book is ruined - why I'm losing my powers and why things that didn't happen in the original plot are happening to you - is because you don't love Taehyung, Briar."
I snorted, "Yeah well, there's good reasons for that, I mean, have you seen the way he acts? Talk about mommy and daddy issues." There were far more than mommy and daddy issues there though - it was like grandma and grandpa issues too.
"Briar, you don't understand!" Yoongi fumed, "This book is falling apart, because there's nothing to hold it together."
I frowned, "You mean like its going to come collapsing down or something?"
"It's going to cease to exist," Yoongi reiterated, "and there's nothing I can do to stop it, but you," He sent a finger my way again, "You can."
"Do what?"
"We need to get you out of here." Yoongi got up from his chair and began pacing the room, "You need to rewrite the story from outside the story. I was thinking you could rewrite it on the inside, but now it just makes sense-"
"You're telling me to plagiarize the story?" I interjected with a laugh, "Look, rewriting might be legal here, but it certainly isn't out there." I pointed my finger behind me, despite the fact that I had no actual clue where the real world was.
"No." Yoongi stopped his pacing and frowned, "You need to write your own version."
"Right," I hummed flatly, still not getting an inkling of understanding from what he was saying, "and how do I go back into the real world and do this?"
Yoongi thought for a moment, "The way you got in here." He began pacing again, while I still lay on Jin's bed.
"Sleeping?" I was, in fact, sleeping when I was suddenly transported into the book.
He stopped and looked back at me, realising I wasn't on par with what he was saying. It was about time.
"No." He paced again speaking faster than Eminem, "Like I said back when I was in that jail cell with you, when my father got me into hacking, I hacked into everything. Anything I could get my self into." He stopped suddenly, eyes trained on a insignificant spot on the pink wall, "And then, one day, I hacked Taehyung's base."
"That probably wasn't too hard." I commented sarcastically.
Yoongi ignored me, "I thought I was going to get back at him for taking Y/N from me, so I watched through the cameras and waited for the right moment," He sighed, "I don't know what I was thinking, but, I contacted this gang that had beef with Taehyung and they agreed that if I took out all the security systems in his mansion that they'd kill him."
His eyes went sad suddenly and his mouth drooped. "Taehyung managed to escape, but Y/N..." His voice trailed off, leaving me with a hint of what happened to her.
I listened closely as he continued, "I was distraught. I went back to my computer and I was so, so ready to just...crush it into pieces."
"But," He went on, "By hacking Taehyung's base and killing Y/N, I had interrupted the flow of the story, and therefore created a rift between the story and reality. The computer was malfunctioning badly, and when I tried to find the problem, something popped up on the screen. It was a site, with this book in it."
I narrowed my eyes, "Right, so by killing Y/N you hacked into Wattpad from a book in Wattpad."
Yoongi proceeded to pace the floor again, "I began reading through it, and the more I read, the more I realised that it was starting to sound like what had happened to Y/N"
"I started looking through the comments on the story. I just couldn't believe that Y/N's life - my life - was a book." He ran his fingers through his hair, now pattering against his tenth round of walking the exact same line.
"One comment caught my attention, though." Yoongi stopped in his tracks again, pointing a finger around as his brain tried to convey it's memories, "Your comment."
"Which said?" This was gonna be good. Hopefully it wasn't a horny one.
"It stood out from the others. It was different."
"Welp, like I said, I'm not like other girls." Came my sarcastic reply.
"You didn't like Taehyung." Yoongi ignored me, once again, musing hard, "You said he was a toxic loser who could only get girls by kidnapping them and that he had a small penis he called Billy Jean."
"Oh lord, I remember that."
"I thought it was funny. I pressed on your icon and then, almost like magic, I was crawling out of your phone."
My eyes widened in horror, "You were crawling out of my phone-"
Out of the blue, Yoongi suddenly strode to my side and took my hands in his, "Briar!" He exclaimed, "There's a portal from my computer to your phone. I created it when I hacked into that site and pressed your icon. It's the reason why you're here."
