Chapter 5: With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility
Y/N's P.O.V
As I stand in the alleyway and come to terms with what I had just done I look down at my hand.
I look closer and see that I have little hairs of sorts coming out of my fingertips. I then look up at the wall behind me and get a crazy idea.
Y/N: No way, it couldn't possibly work.
I turn to the wall and face it.
After that I put on hand on the wall and then my other hand and realise that I'm actually sticking to the wall.
I then climb up the wall. The further up I go the more surprised I am.
Y/N: No way. Humans can't do this. It's impossible.
I then look down at the ground and see that I'm pretty far up.
Y/N: Whoooooo!!
I then climb to the top of the building and run across the building to jump the other building nearby and I jump a pretty big gap.
As I carry on doing this and doing flips and tricks in mid-air I then jump to one more building and catch myself on the wall. I turn out and look out to look out at the city.
Y/N: (Panting) Wow, this is something else.
(One hour later)
So after coming down I try to go back to school, but grandpa finds me and drags me home.
When we get inside I go to the stairs so I can go to my room.
Henry: We're not done with this conversation young man.
Y/N: Well, I am.
Henry: Come here right now!
I sigh and go to sit down on the couch.
Henry: Now, why the hell did you think it was okay to leave school like that?
I stay silent.
Henry: Breaking that Isaac kid's nose is one thing, but leaving school unsupervised is another.
I sigh again.
Y/N: I just didn't want to be there after what happened. People looked at me like I was a freak.
After a moment grandpa sighs, then sits down next to me.
Henry: So, you must feel guilty about doing it?
Y/N: No, I just didn't want to be there.
Henry: Really?
He then looks at me like I'm the bad guy.
Y/N: Oh okay, I get it. Isaac bullies me for years and that's okay, but when I finally fight back I'm the bad guy. Okay, cool.
Henry: Hey, that's not what I meant kiddo.
Y/N: Then what did you mean?
Grandpa sighs again.
Henry: Look kiddo, there are things in life that we go through and those things will mature us. You're at the stage of your life where the decisions you make will turn you into the man you'll be for the rest of your life. I know what you're going through, as I want through the exact same thing at your age.
Y/N: No, not exactly.
Henry: What I'm trying to say is, just be careful who you change into. Now, Isaac Thompson probably got what he deserved when you did what you did. But just because you can beat him up, doesn't mean you should.
Y/N: Yeah, okay. I get what you're saying.
Henry: Just remember. With great power, comes great responsibility.
Y/N: Okay.
We sit in silence for a moment, I then speak again.
Y/N: So, where'd you get that wisdom from?
He chuckles.
Henry: Your father. He used to live by that saying.
Y/N: My dad told you that one?
Henry: Yeah, your dad had his moments of wisdom. I think that's why I liked him.
We both chuckle.
Henry: Now, you go to your room and start your homework before your mother comes home.
Y/N: Yeah, okay.
I then head upstairs to work on my homework.
(Five hours later)
After finishing my homework and having dinner etc. I go outside as I'm taking out the trash. It's my punishment for running out of school.
As I put the trash bag in the bin I hear a voice.
???: Hey.
I look up to see Mia standing there.
Y/N: Oh hey Mia.
Mia: Hi. So is doing that your punishment?
Y/N: Yep. To be honest I'm surprised my mum didn't ground me.
She giggles.
Y/N: Hey so, I'm sorry about what happened earlier. I...
She stops me.
Mia: Don't be. It's okay. You really freaked us out. Are you okay?
Y/N: Yeah, I'm okay. I never thought I'd ever ask this question, but how's Isaac?
Mia: Just a broken nose, but he'll live. You ask me he got what he deserved after everything he's done to you.
Y/N: Yeah, I guess so.
Mia: So, I saw you playing basketball today and I'm impressed by your...
She points at my body.
I smile and look down to hide my red cheeks. I then look back to her.
Y/N: Oh, yeah. Thanks, I've been working out recently. That's all.
Mia: Well, it's definitely paying off for you.
Y/N: Thank you.
Mia: Who knows maybe the coach will put you on the first team.
Y/N: Yeah, maybe. I don't know how the team or the cheerleaders will enjoy having a nerd on the basketball team.
She smiles.
Mia: I would. So don't worry you'll have your own personally cheerleader.
I chuckle.
Y/N: Thanks Mia.
Mia: Okay. Well, I've gotta get home now. So, I'll see you tomorrow.
Y/N: It's a little dark out here. Do you want me to walk back with you?
Mia: No thanks, it's okay. I'll be fine. Besides I only live ten minutes from here so I'll be okay.
Y/N: Okay, well just text me when you get home so I know that you got back safely.
Mia: I will. See ya.
Y/N: Bye.
She then walks off and I head back inside.
Once I'm back inside I see mum looking through the window. She was obviously spying on me through the window.
Y/N: What are you doing?
She looks at me and smiles.
Vanessa: Just watching. Who was that?
Y/N: Oh, that was Mia. She's a friend from school.
Vanessa: Well, she's very pretty, and she seems to like you. And I can tell by the smile on your face that you like her too.
Y/N: Yeah, I guess I do.
Vanessa: Are you gonna ask her out.
Y/N: Oh my god mum. Stop.
Vanessa: Okay, I'm sorry. I'm just saying if you two got together then get married one day, you'd make some beautiful babies...
Y/N: Mum! Please stop.
Vanessa: Sorry, sorry.
I then go upstairs to my room and go to bed.
