Free Time Events
Welp. The main story may be done, there's still a ways to go before we truly end this book.
This time, we'll be doing the extra content that Trigger Happy Havoc has to offer. First, we'll be doing Sora's Free Time Events.
Now...let's get this started!
Sora Shirayuki's Free Time Events (Note: This'll be from Makoto's POV):
Free Time Event #1:
I found Sora standing around in the halls, absent-mindedly staring into space. I walked up to her while she seemed to be lost in thought.
"Kill to escape? Good grief... What a bother..."
Should I spend a little time with Sora?
-Yes ✓
-No
"Eh, why not? Got nothing better to do..."
---
I spend some time walking around the school with Sora...
...I feel like me and Sora have gotten closer.
Would you like to give Sora a present?
-Yes, definitely ✓
-Not really, no
Give Mac's Gloves as a present?
-Yes ✓
-No
"This looks like it might come in handy one day. You sure you want me to have this? I mean, I'll still take it, but..."
I get the impression that she liked it. That's good...
---
"Oh, geez..." Sora let out a sigh. She looked pretty disappointed.
"What's wrong, Shirayuki?" I asked.
"I was about to ask you something, but I forgot. Again." She explained. "Good grief..."
"Oh, it's okay. I'm sure you'll remember eventually..." I assured her.
"Yeah, maybe... But it's so frustrating, you know?" Sora folded her arms with a frown. "Something just randomly pops into your mind and then before you even know it, it just disappears right from the face of your subconscious. And this time it was really important, too!" She groaned. "Typical..."
Is...is it really that bad?
"You say that like it happens all the time..." I sweatdropped.
"Because it does." She told me.
I looked surprised. "R-Really?"
"Yeah. It usually happens at least twice a day, but it happens at the most inconvenient time, too! Like this one time when I was in middle school, I was taking a super important exam. Like "Will make or break your entire school year" important." Sora began. "I was doing pretty good and I was almost finished, but when I got the last question..." She grimaced, clearly forcing herself to relive the memory. "I just up and forgot what the answer was!"
"Yeah, that sounds pretty annoying. Having something like that slip from your mind, and during an important exam like that..."
"I know, right? Because of all that, I had to straight-up guess! ...I mean, granted, I still got it right and ended up acing the exam altogether, but still...!"
I blinked in surprise at that last comment. Even after all that, she still passed it. And by making an educated guess...?
"Geez, you sure lucked out on that one, huh...?" I muttered.
"Yeah...I guess. See ya later, Naegi."
Sora waved as she walked off. I guess even someone as talented as her has her problems...
After parting ways with Sora, I went back to my room.

Free Time Event #2:
I found Sora in the library. She seemed to be pretty enraptured by the looks of it.
"I wonder if this place has a manga section..."
Should I spend a little time with Sora?
-Yes ✓
-No
"Yeah sure, I'll hang out with you. Maybe you can help me look for some good books in here."
---
Me and Sora spent some time searching the library for manga... I feel like we've gotten closer.
Would you like to give Sora a present?
-Yes, definitely ✓
-Not really, no
Give Voice-Changing Bowtie as a present?
-Yes ✓
-No
"Oh, you want me to have this? Thanks. I'll make sure to take good care of it."
I get the impression that she liked it. That's good....
---
"..." Sora frowned, her hands put behind her back. She seems pretty bothered by something.
"Are...you okay, Shirayuki...?" I asked.
"No..." Sora sighed. "I've been here all this time, and I can't even play some volleyball to kill time here..." She grumbled.
Oh yeah, that's right. I almost forgot...
"Speaking of which... Shirayuki, you're the Ultimate Volleyball Champion, right?"
"...No, Naegi. I'm actually an archeologist that uses the power of the sun to defeat my sociopathic adoptive brother that turned into a vampire with a stone mask." She shook her head in sarcastic amusement before nodding. "But yeah, I am. What about it?"
"What exactly makes you an "ultimate" among the other volleyball players out there? I mean, you must be better than all of them if you were invited to Hope's Peak..."
"That's simple. There are other sports champions who challenged me before, but I beat them with no sweat."
"Really? Did you train or something?"
"Nope. In fact, you wanna here a secret?" Sora casually leaned her face towards mine. "I've never actually practiced volleyball a day in my life!" She proudly admitted with a smug grin.
I widened my eyes. She's never trained at all...?
"And...how long have you been into volleyball...?" I questioned.
"Hm..." Sora counted with her fingers before making a shrug. "Probably since I was five."
W-What?! She's been winning volleyball tournaments at such a young age...with no training at all?! ...I think I found one of Kami's favorite's right here.
"But... You know, Naegi... Even though volleyball is a cakewalk to me, it's fun." Sora smiled. "I don't do it for the fame or the money that comes from winning tournaments... I do it because it's what I want to do. You should only do something that brings you joy. Otherwise...you're in for a pretty empty lifestyle."
Only do stuff that you yourself enjoy...even though she said it with a totally nonchalant tone, that's some pretty good advice...
Suddenly, Sora's face went blank. "...Huh? Hey, what brought all this on in the first place?"
"Uh... You were upset that there wasn't a volleyball court in the school..."
"...Oh. Well, I guess talking about it made me feel better. Anyway, I'll see you later, Naegi.
"U-Uh, sure..." I nodded.
Me and Sora parted ways as I headed back to my room.
I found myself thinking over what Sora said. "You should only do stuff that brings you joy."... I feel like I understand her a bit better now...

Free Time Event #3:
I found Sora hanging around in the warehouse.
"So much stuff...do we even need all of this?
Should I spend a little time with Sora?
-Yes ✓
-No
"Who would need all this stuff in one room? This looks like something for a shelter than a school..."
I spent some time talking with Sora... I feel like we've gotten closer.
Would you like to give Sora a present?
-Yes, definitely ✓
-Not really, no
Give Hope's Peak Ring as a present?
-Yes ✓
-No
"...Where did you find this. It looks pretty rare. ...Eh, it doesn't matter. I'll take it."
I got the impression that she liked it. That's good...
---
"Nnn...Mmmph..."
I tilted my head as Sora made a groaning noise while rubbing her cheeks with her palms. She looked and sounded extremely uncomfortable.
"Is...something wrong, Shirayuki?" I asked, looking concerned about her behavior.
"I...I just realized something..." Sora mumbled.
"Realized what?"
"That all this time, I've been showing you guys my actual face. How could I've been so stupid..." She sighed.
"That's what's bothering you?" I raised an eyebrow. "I know you're an introvert and you prefer being alone, but..."
"It's not that simple, Naegi!" Sora pouted, puffing her cheeks in annoyance. "I told you that I'm a super-famous volleyball champion, right? And what do people like me have to deal with?"
"Uhhh..." I shrugged, really not knowing how to respond, especially with how serious she's taking this.
"Fans! Paparazzi! You know, all those weird people who don't understand the concept of personal space!" Sora told me.
I subconsciously scratched the back of my head. "O-Okay, I get it now, but... I don't see how that explains what you were doing earlier..."
Sora sighed and calmed down before holding her arms behind her back, her neutral expression returning. "Alright, let me explain. When famous people go out in public, there are many admirers of theirs who get all up in their faces in leave them no room to breath. To avoid stuff like that, famous people go to some drastic measures so that people wouldn't recognize them."
I blinked, realizing where she was gonna with this. "Wait...now that you mention it, I have heard of people like models and actors and famous sports players do that before.... Is that they same with you?"
"Yeah..."
"Well...what did you wear to disguise yourself? It must've been pretty difficult for you. After all, blondes aren't very common in Japan apart from ones with mixed ancestry..."
Sora rubbed her arms awkwardly while looking away. "I'll give you a hint... It covers my face."
I sweatdropped. Isn't that pretty vague...?
But...something that covers your face and disguises your appearance...
---
-Makeup ✓
-A mask
-A helmet
---
"Is it...makeup?"
"Uhh...isn't that just to make yourself look prettier? I think that's just gonna confirm my identity rather than conceal it." Sora pointed out.
Yeah, you're right about that...
---
-Makeup ✘
-A mask
-A helmet ✓
---
"Maybe...a helmet? That covers your face, right?"
"Yeah, but someone wearing a helmet in anywhere but some kinda racing track would stick out with a sore thumb. I think that's even more embarrassing than showing my face..."
I guess that's a good point...
---

"Are you talking about...a mask?" I asked.
Sora nodded in confirmation. "Yep. I usually use a face mask along with some shades so people won't recognize me. So far, nobody's managed to find me out yet..."
"So...you don't want people to recognize you in public? That's way you wear a mask...?"
"Yeah well, that's part of the reason." Sora answered. "But it's also because I have problems with people staring at my face all the time. It really gives me the heebie-jeebies. Especially when I'm talking to 'em."
I sweatdropped. "Uhh...Shirayuki? You're not wearing your mask, and you're talking to me..." I pointed out. "In fact, you talk to a lot of other people without it, like Kirigiri. From what I've seen, you can hold up conversations with people just fine."
A moment of silence fell by. Sora's neutral expression was unchanging but a blue shadow was cast on her forehead.
"...I gotta go."
Turning her back to me, she calmly walked away before it turned into sprinting as she (presumably) headed back to her room.
I sweatdropped. Did...she seriously not notice that the entire time...?

Free Time Event #4:
I found Sora standing around in the hallways as I walked up to her.
"Oh hey. What are you doing here?"
Should I spend a little time with Sora?
-Yes ✓
-No
"Sure, I got time. Whaddya wanna do?"
I spent some time walking around the school with Sora... I feel like we've gotten closer.
Would you like to give Sora a present?

Give Antique Doll as a present?

"Woah..." Her eyes sparkled. "Neato memento. You really want me to have this...?"
It looks like she likes it. That's good...
---
"...Hey, don't you think it's time we wrap this up?" Sora suddenly said as she held her arms behind her back.
"...Huh? Wrap what up?"
"Usually, there's only about 4 of these Events, so we're nearing the end."
"The end...of what?" I raised an eyebrow.
Sora sighed as she shook her head. "Nothing, forget it. There's just something on my mind, is all..."
"What is it?" I asked.
"I know this seems outta the blue, but...do you have any friends, Naegi...?"
"Oh, well..." I felt my face heat up as I responded. "Of course I have friends. But I usually only see them in school. I don't have any relationships with them outside of that."
"I see..." Sora nodded, her lips forming into a straight line. "And how old are they?"
How old...?
"Uhh...they're at least around my age. Why...?"
"You don't have any friends that are...older than you?"
"...No...?"
Sora looked away from me, but I heard her mumble something along the lines of "I knew it..." under her breath.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
Sora sighed. "You see, Naegi...I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this, but...growing up, I never had that many friends..."
"Oh...I see." I frowned, giving her a sympathetic expression.
"The only bonds I've ever had was with my sister and my family. I've found it difficult to make time for anyone else. It probably didn't help that I spent most of my time inside my house..." Sora mumbled. "But...I do have one friend outside my family."
"Really...?"
"Yeah...she's a private investigator. From what she told me, she used to be a billiards player back when she was a teenager. Even though I only think of her as my friend, she treats me like I'm her younger sister. I already get enough of that already..." She shook her head in amusement as a small smile graced upon her face. "But...it's probably because she's over a decade older than me. Still, she's nice to have around..."
I smiled at her. "I'm glad to hear that. It's good that you have at least one friend..."
Sora chuckled as her rosy cheeks started lighting up. "Yeah well...not anymore."
"Huh?"
"You know Naegi, I've never had someone my age to talk about this stuff with me. I may not look it, but...I can't help but feel a little bit happy." She smirked. "What I'm trying to say is...I like you, Naegi. You and your red hair..."
Sora walked in front of me and tip-toed up as she reached up and patted my hair like I was her pet. I chuckled at the gesture.
But, wait... Did she say...?
"Wait a minute...did you just say "red"? Shirayuki, my hair's brown." I corrected.
At that, Sora's body froze as she stopped patting me. "O-Oh yeah, I knew that. And...I assume your eyes aren't orange, either...?" She sweatdropped.
"No...they're green."
"...Good to know."
I blinked in confusion. Shirayuki, are you co-
"Anyway!" Sora clapped her hands together. "I guess this makes us officially friends. Can't wait to see where we go from here, Koto."
"...Koto?"
"It's a nickname. I only give them to people I like, so you're stuck with it." Sora giggled as she held out her hand.
I chuckled. "Sure."
Outstretching my hand, I grabbed Sora's as we shook hands. I can feel the genuine bond of friendship as I looked at Sora's smile. I guess this makes us truest friends of the word...
