Grief

Prologue

(Okay to you viewers out there, for this story to work I'm just gonna pretend Ulric has an older brother. Just roll with it.)

Its been really nice for lovers Gabby and Ulric. They loved spending time together and etc. Ulric would tell her all sorts of stories of him and his older brother Alpha when they were kids. Gabby could tell he loved his brother deeply, and when she sees them together she can tell they have a deep bond. Everything was fine, until Alpha died in a car accident. Ulric was so depressed, but he tries not to show it. He didn't even go to his funeral. He was also more distant from Gabby. She felt really bad, and decided to do something about it.

Gabby's POV

I took a bite of my chicken and looked at Ulric across the table. He just stared blankly at his plate, taking small nibbles at his food. Its been two weeks since Alpha's death, and Ulric hardly eats or sleeps. He even barely talks. I was so worried. "How's the food?" I asked. Ulric glanced up at me, then back at his plate. "Its good, I'm just not very hungry." he mumbled.

He stood up. "Well then maybe you should go to bed." I said. Ulric shook his head as he cleaned his plate. "I'm not sleepy. I'll just go watch TV." he said. He started to walk away but I stood up and grabbed his hand. He looked back at me confused. "Gabby?" Ulric said. I gave him a worried look. "Ulric, do you wanna talk?" I said. "What are you talking about?" Ulric asked.

"Don't act like its nothing! Ulric you hardly eat or sleep. You've been acting so different and I'm really worried." I said. "I'm fine okay." Ulric stated. "I can tell your upset." I said. "Just leave me alone." Ulric said as he pulled out of my grip. He started to walk away. "You've been acting like this ever since Alpha died." I said. When I said his brother's name he stopped dead in his tracks.

I placed a hand on his shoulder. "If your upset about it, talk to me." I said. Ulric was silent. He pushed my shoulder off and tried to walk upstairs. I went after him. "Ulric please, I want to help." I said, grabbing his hand. "Leave me alone." Ulric said. "No." I stated. Ulric glared at me with teary eyes and growled. "Leave me alone!" he roared. I flinched but kept my ground. Ulric wiped his teary eyes. I kissed his cheek, calming him down.

"I have an idea, tomorrow, we're going to visit someone." I stated.

Time skip

I drove us down the street towards our destination. I glanced at Ulric. He stared out the window, an annoyed look on his face. "This is stupid, where are we going? And who are we visiting?" he asked. "You'll see. And please don't have an attitude." I said. "Whatever....." Ulric mumbled. Soon we reached our destination and I parked the car.

We climbed out of the car. Ulric's eyes widened when he saw the cementary. His mouth gaped open a bit and he was speechless. "G-Gabby, w-why are we......." he stuttered. I smiled. "Well, you never did go his funeral, so today we're going to visit him." I said.

Ulric's POV

I was shocked that she took me here, maybe even a bit scared. "Gabby I....I..I don't think I can...." I stuttered. I already felt the lump in my throat. I only didn't go to his funeral because I didn't think I could handle it emotional. I was trying to be strong....like him. Gabby took ahold of my hand gently and I looked at her. She gave me a kind smile. "Ulric, you need this." she stated. I looked at her unsure but nodded.

She led me around the cementary looking for his grave. After a few minutes of searching Gabby spoke up. "I found it." she said. I held my breath and turned to the grave she was looking at. And there was his name engraved on it. Alpha. My eyes widened. I finally felt that huge weight on my chest that I've had for two weeks.

Gabby sat in front of the grave and patted the spot next to her. I sat down next her, staring at my brother's grave. Gabby smiled at me. "If you won't talk to me, then maybe you can talk to him." she said. I frowned, feeling guilty about the way I was treating her lately. Its not like she killed my brother. She didn't deserve it. I looked at the ground. "I....I don't know...what to say." I said.

"Say anything." Gabby said softly. I looked back at the grave and swallowed the lump my throat. "I..I guess, the first thing I should say is.....I miss you. That car accident, I just didn't see it coming. You've been around so long, I started to think you could never die." I said. I chuckled at the stupid thought. "Dumbest thing I've ever thought." I muttered. Gabby gave me a sympathetic look.

"I remember all the times we had as kids. Like when we ate the Thanksgiving turkey right before dinner. I've never seen Mom so mad." I said. I clenched my fists. "And all the times at school, you would always help me out. Even with bullies." I said. I frowned. "That's right, you we're the toughest kid in school. So strong...nothing could take you down..." I said. Tears welled up in my eyes. Gabby noticed and scooted to closer to me. "Ulric...." she said.

I clenched my fists. "I've done everything I could to be as strong as you....." I said weakly. I shut my eyes tight as the tears streamed down my cheeks. "But I can't.....I just can't.....every time I think of you.....all I want to do is cry......." I said weakly. Gabby gave me a soft smile and rubbed my back. "Ulric....you don't have to be strong all the time." she said. My eyes widened and I looked at her.

She turned me over so that I was facing her. "If you feel something, then that's what you feel. Ignoring that feeling isn't going to make you stronger. If your mad, you punch a pillow. If your amused, you laugh. If your scared, you scream." Gabby said. She cupped my face, causing me to flinch. "If your sad, then you cry." she said. I started to shake, having trouble hold in sobs. I tried to wipe my eyes but she gently took my hand.

I started to whimper. "Gabby...." I said weakly. "Shhh, its okay." Gabby said softly. More tears streamed down my cheeks and I finally started to sob softly. As I cried Gabby hugged me around my neck and rubbed my back with her palm. I hugged back and buried my face in her shoulder. It started to sink in, the fact that Alpha.......was dead. I cried harder into her shoulder, desperate for comfort.

"Gabby....Gabby I miss him....I want him back! Gabby I really want him back!" I sobbed. Gabby hushed me softly. "Shhh, I know Ulric. I know it hurts. But it'll get better. I promise." she said softly. I kept on crying, clinging on to Gabby for dear life. Gabby didn't complain, she just held me in her arms and whisper sweet things to me.

I don't know how long I was crying there, but eventually we pulled back and I started to whimper. "Gabby....I-I'm sorry how about how I've been acting lately, I really am...." I said weakly. I let out a few more sobs tried to wiped my eyes. Gabby cupped my face and wiped some tears off my cheeks. "It'll be okay. I'll be right here." she said. My tears were nonstop, no matter how much I tried to stop. I've never cried before, I use to think lot it as a sign of weakness.

I wanted another hug but was too choked up to ask. I think she could tell though because she smiled again. "Do you want another hug?" she asked softly. I sobbed a little and nodded. She wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me close to her chest. I sobbed softly into her chest as she hugged me tightly. "Shh, baby. Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere." Gabby said softly. She kissed the top of my head.

At the moment I stopped crying, and a small smile spread across my face.

"Thank you." I said weakly.
