Ulric's POV

I nibbled on my lunch I had, sitting alone. Normally Gabby would be here to eat with me, but.....she got into trouble. I soon stopped eating and just stared at my lunch. Then I clenched my fists. What I have I done?! Not only is she in trouble for something I did, but she is also having her parents getting called. So both the school and her parents will be eating at her. What the hell was she thinking?! Taking the blame for me! She knew very well I did it and she could've easily explained what happened.....but she didn't.

"What have I done?" I said to myself. Before I left that classroom, I saw her crying. I stood up.

"Dammit!" I said. I threw out my lunch, my appetite long gone, and briskly walked down the school halls. I hurried until I got to the right classroom. I knocked on the door, then opened the door without bothering to wait for someone else to do it. The teacher was doing some typing on her computer while Gabby was cleaning her seat, spraying water on it and wiping it down with a paper towel. She had the most depressed look on her face I've ever seen. I should be cleaning that chair, not her.

"Ulric? What are you doing here? Can I help you with something?" the teacher asked. 

"Yes, please don't punish Gabby." I said. Gabby glanced over at me while the teacher raised a brow.

"Listen, I was the one who painted your seat, and I messed with your power point. Gabby had nothing to do with it! She actually tried to stop me and got sprayed with some of the paint. Please, don't punish her for my mistake!" I said.

"Lying won't get you any where Ulric." the teacher said.

"I'm not lying I promise! All of the class saw me! Ask any of them!" I said.

"Then why did Gabby confess she did those things?" the teacher asked. The look on her face showed she didn't believe me.

"I don't know, ask her yourself!" I said. I walked over to Gabby and placed a hand on her shoulder, then looked back at the teacher.

"Please, Gabby has been your best student for the longest time. Can you really think of a reason why she would stop suddenly? Why I'm even bothering to prove her innocent!" I said. Gabby looked at me surprised. 

"I'm sorry I did those things. But Gabby didn't do them, so let her go! Punish me instead!" I said. The teacher's expression softened.

"She really didn't do it?" she asked. I nodded.

"Gabby?" the teacher said. Gabby was silent, keeping her gaze to the ground. The teacher sighed.

"Well, if you really are telling the truth....." she said.

"I swear I am!" I stated. The teacher looked at me.

"Very well, I'll let Gabby go. And I won't call her parents." she said. Gabby looked at the teacher surprised while a wave of relief washed over me. Thank God! 

"However, Ulric...." the teacher said. I looked at her seriously.

"I truly am sorry for what I did, and it won't happen again I promise. But any punishment I get I deserve." I stated. I didn't care what happened to me. Gabby was gonna be okay, and that's all I cared about. Before the teacher could speak again Gabby stood up and clung onto me. I looked down at her surprised.

"Please don't punish him.....I don't want him to get into trouble anymore..." Gabby said weakly. I looked down at her and rubbed the top of her head gently. The teacher gave a small smile.

"She certainly cares about you." she said. I nodded. The teacher sighed.

"I think this time.....I can let you off the hook. Both of you." she said. I smiled.

"Thank you." I said. The teacher frowned.

"But, I would maybe get some ice on her hand." she said. I looked at her confused and looked down to see Gabby's right hand was red. My eyes widened. I looked back at the teacher.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't know...." the teacher said. 

"I-Its fine, just...I'll take her to lunch." I said, walking Gabby out of class. When we were far away enough from the classroom I looked down at Gabby.

"Gabby what were you thinking?! Why did you take the blame?!" I said. She kept her gaze to the ground.

"Because.....I didn't want you to get into trouble." she said weakly. I saw tears in her eyes. I gave her a sympathetic look and hugged her.

"I'm so sorry Gabby. It was my fault you got into trouble. I didn't mean to hurt you. Dammit I'm so so sorry." I said. Gabby hugged me tight and I felt tears sink into my shirt.

"Its not your fault Ulric......" she said weakly. I hugged her tighter.

"Well for now on I'm gonna behave myself. No more pranks, no more mischief, none of that. I'm gonna be better for you. For us. Okay?" I said. Gabby nodded. We hugged for a little longer, then we pulled back and I wiped her tears away. I looked at her red hand and frowned. I kissed it lightly and held it tight.

"I'm really sorry....." I said. Gabby used her other hand to cup my cheek gently, smiling at me.

"Its okay.....I forgive you." she said. I smiled at her.

"I just don't want to make you cry." I said. Gabby hugged me again.

"It'll be okay." she said. I smiled at and hugged back.
