────── SIXTH YEAR
Charlie became Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team. He was the Seeker of the team. He was incredibly talented. Everyone at Hogwarts thought he had the talent to become a professional player, but Miriam knew what Charlie really wanted to pursue as a career when they graduated.
He was busy every other day with practice. The old captain used to make them practice every day, even when the field was already taken. After Charlie took on the role of Captain, practices were more lenient, but he still made sure his teammates weren't rusty. He wanted to give Slytherin a piece of his mind. Merula was on the Slytherin team as Chaser. She always tried to use dirty tricks to win, but Slytherin usually lost against Gryffindor no matter what.
Miriam was on the Gryffindor team as Beater. It made sense. She was such a violent girl that needed to vent on something other than Merula's face. Miriam commented multiple times about Merula's face. She once compared it to Bludgers. Every time there was a game, Miriam imagined Bludgers as Merula's face.
Miriam was the only female Beater in all of the houses. Beaters needed to have a lot of arm strength, and most witches did not have that. She had been on the quidditch team since her second year, while Charlie joined during his third year. Miriam was originally Chaser, but she tried out for Beater in her third year and easily beat out the runner-up wizard.
When Charlie and Miriam started dating near the end of their third year, everyone on the team teased them - in a good way. They were Hogwarts's power couple. Charlie always blamed his bad grades on spending too much practicing Quidditch, but Miriam always reminded him that she was also on the team and still had good grades.
It was at this age where Miriam's parents told her she was adopted. She didn't understand. No one in her family - extended or not - seemed to say anything. They shunned her for abilities, but really, all that time, it was because she wasn't really related to them.
