lets just say it: i really like dubbed anime

if a show has a dub and sub version with easy access, ill watched the dub version more often than not 

though, there are some shows i prefer the subbed (like no6), but only if i watch the sub version first

i have an awful attention span. forcing me to watch the bottom of the screen for subtitles instead of acting looking at the action just,,kills the immersion. not being able to instantly know what the character is saying kills the immersion. the best way for me to really get into is to hear it in my native language

hearing it in your native language helps you actually hear the inflections of the voice and the emotion in it! also, there's a bit more suspense when you dont know the entire line before the character even finishes the line lol

and for petty reasons: sometimes, i HATE the japanese voices. usually when there's a younger male lead, hes played by a woman and it reallly shows in the japanese version. like, fmab. cant stand the sub. at all. edward has the distinct voice of a girl, and,,it just doesnt fit his character. vic did an amazing job with that role and i appreciate it sm?? also, female voices tend to be less dog whistle pitch and more,, human

japanese,,is a weird language. it's hard to translate exactly to english. this leads to subtitles being...a little odd. even rewriting the script to sound less stilted still doesnt do it for me. ESPECIALLY for jokes. having to read a translators note to realize why a joke is funny isnt as nice as having a localized joke made by the dub team that fits in the context.

honestly, all the newer anime fans have nothing to complain about. the 90s and early 2000s were the era of awful dubs (though there still are some duds). the crap theyre coming out with today is good.

bashing the dub version for no good reason is obnoxious. you cant go to a yt comment section without seeing some 14 weaboo whining about the english dub. stuff like "yeah, im not a fan of this. [x] didnt do a good job of portraying [y]" is cool, "the dub sucks, kill yourself" is not

yeah, i like english versions lol
