6: Meeting The Devil, Again
Full chapter as promised :)
"Run!" I heard her voiced filled with agony.
I glanced at my mom's blood covered hand that was reaching out to me. Horrified, I tried to reach her but couldn't.
"Kia, RUN!" she yelled at me again.
No! How could I?
"Mommy! I won't leave you!" I sobbed.
"N-No, baby, listen to me," she closed her eyes as she took a deep breath. She took out her aquamarine pendant from her pocket as she reached out to me, "Baby, take this, and get out of the car, now!"
"No, mommy, I won't leave you! Please!" I continued sobbing.
"Sweety, mommy is fine, see-" she said as she forced a smile on her burnt face, I could sense her pain. She gritted her teeth, clutching a hand on her wounded shoulder.
No! It couldn't be!
"Mommy, please don't leave me! Please!"
"Baby, I'm not leaving you, I will always be with you, always." She said as she forced a smile.
"Mommy."
"Take this pendant baby, as long as you have it, you will be free from harms. No matter what happens now, I want you to fight. You are my strong girl, aren't you, Kia?" she said as she took a deep breath.
I tried to reach the front seat. Ignoring the sharp metal cutting through my thighs, I took the pendant from her trembling hands.
"I will always be with you. If you can't find me, place a hand on your heart. I will always remain alive in your heart, watching over you from the stars," she whispered.
And she began to fade away.
"Mommy! No! Don't go!" I screamed.
Run! Run! Run!
Her last words echoed everywhere.
"Don't leave me- Don't-"
"Kia! WAKE UP!" I heard Stephanie's voice.
My eyes snapped open and I took in my surrounding. I was drenched in sweat and was breathing heavily. A frowning Stephanie stood in front of my bed, assessing me.
I had that dream, again.
And this time, Stephanie woke me up.
I reached towards the glass of water that was kept on the bedside table.
"Are you okay? " Steph asked in a worried tone as I emptied the glass in one breath.
"Yeah, no worries, I have that dream sometimes." I scratched my head and took a deep breath. I wanted to forget the disturbing images. Stephanie nodded and wished me goodnight, leaving me, alone.
I desperately wanted to forget my mom's blood covered face.
But not her pleas, never.
Her voice was beginning to fade away and I had nothing to remember her by.
Except for her aquamarine necklace.
I took out the necklace from the table drawer and clutched it tightly. I examined the beautiful sea coloured diamond, hoping it would help me sleep.
But sleep never came that night, just like the other nights.

"Have you done your assignment?" Stephanie poked me on the ribcage.
"Yup." I replied, gloomily. I was tired from the lack of sleep.
She sighed, scratching her head.
We were walking through the hallway. It was the 6th hour and the college premesis was pretty much empty, except a few teachers here and there. I had my work and after that I had an appointment with my dentist and my ophthalmologist. I yawned, for the umpteenth time.
"Kiara, honestly, you can skip your hour today, I'm sure Mr. Ruther will understand. You look tired and your eyes are red."
"I am not tired!" I snapped at her, annoyed.
"See! And now you are sulking!" She stated, enthusiastically, as if she had proved the Theory of Relativity wrong.
"Shut it, Steph." I mumbled, "I need to do my job. If I don't how am-"
"Well, someone takes their job seriously," I deep voice came from behind us.
Shit!
Stephanie's eyes narrowed and she turned around after making a quick eye contact. I, however, didn't need to know who it was by seeing him.
I would recognise that voice anywhere.
"And you are?" Stephanie asked, probably planning his murder in her head.
"I'm Sinn. I don't think we've met before." he replied with a grin, "But Kiara knows me well. Don't you, Kia?"
"Do you?" Stephanie poked me.
I bit my lip and nodded. Heat crept up my cheek. I turned around and my eyes locked with Sinn, his stormy green eyes resting on mine.
As if sensing something between us, Steph quickly mumbled, "Kia, I gotta go. Uh, my phone's dead and I gotta charge it, so that I, uh, can talk, yeah, and I forgot my charger as well....um, bye."
Don't leave me, YOU TRAITOR!
She nudged me and winked at me. I glared at her.
"Bye, Sinn!" she waved at him, "Have fun Kia!" she gathered her belongings and walked, no, ran out of the hallway.
I was left alone with him, again.
Mumbling profanities under my breath, I looked up at the devil, who was now inching towards me.
"Hello, Kiara," he said, his voice deeper and huskier than usual.
"Hi," I whispered, timidly.
"You didn't call me." his tone that of an accusation.
"Well- I-"
"I waited for your call," he breathed. He was dangerously close to me. I took a few steps back.
"Look, Sinn," I stuttered, "W-What's going on?"
He raised an eyebrow. I felt my back hit on a wall and just like that I was trapped.
"Why would you be interested in me or anything related to me? What's going on?" Thankfully, I didn't stutter this time. That would've been embarrassing.
He scratched his head, looking dumbfounded for a moment. Annoyance flashed in his eyes.
"Look, I find your personality interesting," He grabbed my chin gently and tilted it upwards, "I find you interesting and I'd like to know you better."
"Why?" I narrowed my eyes, "Please don't think that I know nothing about your reputation, I've been here for only a week and a half and I'm already familiar with your ways with females. They beg you to bed them, throw themselves at your feet. You can have any woman you want. So, why show interest in me?"
He pressed my body with his tightly, sandwiching me between him and the wall. I could feel every contour of his body.
He felt like a carved stone.
"You didn't answer my question Sinn, tell me, why did you want me to call you? What are you playing at? I'm not dumb," I tried to ignore our position.
I knew something was up, otherwise a man like him wouldn't spare a glance at me. The odd looking me.
"What can you possibly want from a ugly woman like me?" I whispered, casting my head downwards.
Something flashed in his forest green orbs and his eyes stilled on mine.
"You're not ugly, butterfly"- he inched towards me. We were breathing the same air at this point. His beautiful green orbs wrecked havoc in my heart.
"None of us are perfect." he whispered again, causing my heart to skip a beat. Our lips were almost touching.
"Y-you shouldn't e-even talk w-with me." I stuttered, my breathing heavy. I clutched my books closer to my chest. I didn't want him to break down my walls.
He only continued to pierce my soul with his stormy gaze. His eyes were darker than usual, his breathing was fanning my lips- leaving a tingly sensation.
"Don't demean yourself-" he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, the mere contact caused me to shiver, "I hate when you do that."
I looked into his eyes and for the first time he seemed sincere. I continued staring. His gaze called me like a siren.
I didn't know how long we continued our session. Few moments later, something dawned upon him and he released me, backing away quickly.
"I'm sorry," he apologised, though, his voice sounded like he was anything but sorry.
"It's okay." I nodded to him.
"Kiara, please don't get me wrong, I only want to know you. You are different. Different than those brainless girls who only want me for a good fuck." He sounded genuine.
I wanted to believe him.
"I only want a person to accompany me." He stated, his posture stoic.
"Okay, then." I breathed, "What do you want me to do?"
He grinned, like a victor and said, "Well, for starters, give me your phone number. How about a dinner this weekend?"
I took a deep breath, "Okay, I will have dinner with you." Typing my number in his phone, I gave it back.
"See you then Kia," he smirked and excused himself.
And suddenly, I was getting impatient.
For weekend.
For him.
