11: Tranquility
Kiara's POV:
"Hey nerd! Heard you're dating the greek god? Tell me honestly, did you hypnotize him or somethin'? I really don't see any other ways to make him date you."
"Sinn is dating her! Dear lord, she must be that good in bed! Please don't tell me she is a nymphomaniac underneath all those baggy clothes!"
"I think she is a whore. Sinn only sleeps with girls like them. If he is seriously dating, that means the girl is a sex crazed maniac."
I froze dead in my spot. My mind had gone numb. They thought that lowly of me? It was lunch time and the cafeteria had gone crazy as soon as I had entered. Sinn had made our relationship official to everyone this morning. I forbade him to do so, but he didn't pay heed to me saying, "Everyone should know that you are mine."
And just like that I was in the spotlight.
Although Sinn had promised me he would accompany me every now and then but he broke his promise. He didn't save me.
'Sorry, baby, something came up.' That's what his text had said. Reality had hit me faster than a truck and again I reminded myself not to be dependant, even if it's my 'boyfriend'.
I grabbed my tray and tried running out of the cafe. But my attempts were in vain. Someone pushed me and I fell on my face. A sharp pain shot through my forehead. I opened and closed my eyes in order to clear my vision.
As soon as my face came in contact with the ground, the whole cafe burst out laughing. Some were even taping me.
"Where are you going slut? Won't you tell us your secrets? Or are you afraid that one of us might steal your man because we are better looking than you?" A dark haired girl spat, emphasizing on the word 'man'.
I tried getting up but she kicked in my stomach. I cried out in blazing pain, clutching the injured area. Some looked at me with pity, some forbade the others to do it but none came for my help. None.
The pain was unbearable. It felt like I was being punched in my lower abdomen constantly. I hissed as I tried getting up. When I succeeded, I tried getting out of their reach but the dark haired girl grabbed my necklace.
My mom's aquamarine necklace. Oh no!
"Where do you think you are going?" she sneered.
I mustered up my courage. I know I should've stopped them before, but better late than never, right? I spoke up, "Look, I haven't done anything to you then why are you behaving like this? Sinn started dating me because we wanted to, I don't need to explain to some random girl." I tugged at my necklace but her grip on it tightened.
"RANDOM GIRL! DO YOU KNOW WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO?" she yelled, "How dare you talking back to me?"
"Are you that amnesiac that you don't even remember your identity?" I raised my eyebrows.
"You- you....tell me, did Sinn gift you this necklace?" she smirked, probably remembering my pleas.
"No." I answered as I tried to prevent my voice from shaking. But when I saw her menacing smirk grow, I knew I had failed.
"It's from someone special, isn't it?" She cooed. Shit!
"P-Please, let go of this necklace." I was sweating profusely now. My breath was shaking.
Not her necklace please, that's her last remnant, please.
"Hmm, you are getting really worked up over a mere necklace," she trailed a manicured finger on my forehead. I noticed a drop of sweat on her nail. I looked at it horrified while she just smirked vehemently.
"Is it expensive?" she muttered as she took the stone in her hand, "Blue stone? Who wears blue stone now-a-days? Haven't you heard that diamonds are a girl's best friend?"
Haven't you heard that this blue stone is actually called aquamarine?
She twirled the stone in her index finger, not breaking eye contact with me.
"I wonder what if I tug it a lil bit harder-" before I could comprehend what she was saying, a sharp snappy sound echoed through the room and a pain shot through my neck.
"NO!" I cried out, holding my now broken necklace in my hands. The tears I was holding back for so long sprung free and I remained frozen on my spot.
"Oops," she mock gasped, "it broke. I'm soooo sorry," she did this pathetic puppy eyes but eventually burst out laughing with her minions.
I didn't utter a word. I was too distressed to say anything. "Remember, minx, Sinn is mine, he was mine and always will be m-"
"WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE?" before she could finish her sentence, an angry voice boomed throughout the cafe. I saw the girl infront of me ashen and felt two strong arms wrapping me up, protectively.
I knew who it was. But right now, I didn't care.
"S-Sinn, I-"
"GET THE FUCK OUT!" he yelled making me flinch. When his gaze fell on me, it softened. I saw the dark haired girl running out of the cafe along with her minions.
Sinn looked at me apologetically. I averted my gaze from him.
It hurts when the one who is supposed to protect you isn't there.
Suddenly, he grabbed my hand and led me to the parking lot. I followed him.
"Get in." He commanded.
"Where-"
"Get in, Kia. I need to make up for leaving you like that." He took my hands in his and made me look up in his eyes, "Sorry, baby. Please get in, I want to show you something." He pleaded.
For some reason, it sounded like he was forcing himself to do this. I searched his face for any sort of uncertainty but I found none. He smiled at me, which didn't quite reach his eyes.
Was he annoyed at me because I couldn't stand up for myself? My grip on my broken necklace tightened while my heart searched for tranquility. I decided to ignore Sinn's nonchalance as I was too tired to argue with him. So, I nodded and got into the passengers seat.
I wonder what he wants to show me.

The ride was filled with suffocating silence. It seemed as if his mere breathing was poisoning my blood. No matter how hard I tried to ignore the prickling feeling on my skin, I couldn't. The silence could've been cut with a knife if wanted.
"We're here." Sinn announced as he hopped out of the car. I sighed in relief and followed his trail.
I stretched my almost numb limbs and inhaled fresh air. When I took in my surrounding, my jaw dropped. I definitely wasn't prepared for this.
In front of me, stood a beautiful house in all it's glory. The setting sun casted an ethereal pink and orange hue on the lake in front of it. The mirror like water reflected the sky and I found myself getting lost among the depth of it. Everything about this place gave me a sense of peace, harmony and tranquility.
"Beautiful isn't it?" Sinn spoke from beside me, breaking my serenity. I looked at him and found him looking at me with a strange look.
For a moment, I forgot how to breathe. His eyes held so many emotions I couldn't name. My breathe hitched and I gulped nervously. His gaze was promising, it was as if he had never seen anything like me before, as if he had seen a celestial being. He was taking in every details of my face, as if drawing a mental image in his mind.
He was memorizing me.
Those eyes created havoc in my heart, they assessed me, possessed me, captured me and worshiped me. The toxins in my blood returned, reminding me of his effect on me.
I licked my lips and I saw his gaze fixating on it. Hours seemed to pass by, before he blinked his eyes. And just like that, everything was normal again.
I took in the lake in front of me and closed my eyes, smiling, "It's ethereal."
I could feel him smiling. A moment later, he spoke up, "It's my secret hideout."
"Secret hideout?" I questioned.
He nodded, taking in a deep breath, "Whenever, I feel depressed, I come here. It helps with the bad memories."
I was tempted to ask what his bad memories were, but refrained myself from doing so. We were not at that stage yet.
A few moments passed in silence. It was not awkward like before. It was, somewhat, refreshing. Sinn decided to break it by clearing his throat. I gazed at him.
"Kia, I know you hate me right now-"
"I don't hate you." My cold reply came out harsher than intended.
"Yeah, but you have a grudge against me, don't you?" He peeked a glance at me."I'm really sorry. I mean it. I didn't want to leave you alone."
"See where it took me, Sinn." My voice broke as I held back a sob, "My mom's necklace-"
"Shh, Kiara," he whispered in a soothing manner as he engulfed me in his arms.
For a moment, I was frozen. I contemplated whether I should hug him back or not. His rich, masculine scent greeted me, calming my raging nerves in process. I felt protected. Timidly, I wrapped my arms around him as well.
He held me tightly, as if I were a rare piece of diamond. I clutched on his shirt in order to balance myself as I was feeling dizzy.
And good, really good. My subconscious hummed in pleasure.
"Forgive me? I swear, I'll never leave you alone again," Sinn whispered.
"Okay," I mumbled timidly. I felt him smiling against my shoulder. When I noticed our current position, my cheeks grew warm. Sinn pulled back, but still had that death grip on my waist. I looked away under his intent gaze, while he just chuckled.
"Show me the necklace Kia?" he whispered, cupping my cheeks. I nodded and took out the broken jewellery from my back pocket.
He twirled it in his hands, examining it. "Can you give it to me for a few days? I want to fix it."
"No," I shook my head, "It's okay."
"Nope, it's not. It's broken because of me," he inched towards me, "And I will fix it. Hmm?"
"Yeah." I whispered sheepishly, I'm sure I was scarlet by now.
He twirled it in his fingers and I took my time to admire the length of them.
What's wrong with me!
"Okay." He exclaimed as he tucked the heart shaped stone in his back pocket, "It'll be fixed. Mi'lady?"
"Hmm?" I gazed at him curiously.
"Would you like to see the house?" He asked curtly, his weirdly attractive accent deepening, I was pretty sure that he wanted to fake a British accent.
I giggled like a high school girl in crush but composed myself soon. I saw him grinning. "I'd love to, but another time. It's getting dark and Stephanie is sick. I'm pretty sure she might call the police if I don't return by 7." I answered, my voice apologetic.
"Okay." He said. His grin fell and he had a sad face on.
Awee! My subconscious was fangirling herself.
"Maybe you can treat me with a dinner?" I suggested, hopefully.
His face lit up and he grinned like a five year old getting his ice cream, "Sure! Let's go."
He drove us to a nearby McDonald and I couldn't be more grateful. We ate our 'dinner' in peace.
"So, will this be counted as a date?" I asked on our way back. He smiled sheepishly and said, "Nah, you cried and I'd never make you cry in our date."
I smiled to myself, processing his words.
Sure my mom's necklace broke earlier but I'm sure Sinn will fix it. I was happy that I could spend some time with him. Even if it was for a short while.
The car halted, indicating me that we had reached my dorm. I got out and waved at him. "Bye! Thanks for today, I had fun."
He winked at me, making me blush, "Anytime, sweetheart." I turned scarlet at his hoarse promising voice. It was deep and had a slight hint of debauchery.
I could feel his gaze drilling a hole on the back of me. As I got inside, I dared peeking a glance at him through the ajar door. He was watching me like a hawk.
I shyly smiled and closed the door, taking deep breaths in order to calm myself down. My heart was beating crazily. The sound my blood pounding could be heard clearly.
I brushed my teeth and cleaned up, getting ready for bed. The entire time, I was thinking about a certain someone. The 6 foot something hunk with a pair of mesmerising green eyes. Butterflies in my stomach had gone crazy, as if Sinn's thoughts were their life spirit. Their fuel.
That night, I slept with a huge ass smile on my face, after a long time. A beautiful specimen invaded my dreams.
