[summary]

CASS has loved the paranormal their whole life, searching for it under their bed, in the dark closet at the end of the hall, through the trees of the woods behind their house. a person of questionable taste who grew up watching buzzfeed unsolved and ghostly mysteries on their tv, they've always wanted more, more, more. they've always wanted to find that more, to experience it, to leave with a bone-chilling tale to tell late at night when no questions are asked.

so they curated a plan. a road trip across the united states, stopping at all the creature sightings and haunted houses they could possibly pack in, videotaping the whole shebang. and if you're CASS's friend, or their brother, CALLEN, you're definitely tagging along.

what CASS wants to see is a glimpse of something. of that more. eyes lingering in the dark, a deer standing on two legs in the middle of the road, something vaguely not human following the car. no harm to themself or their friends, but the exhilaration and adrenaline that comes with a sighting of something unexplainable. what they end up getting? terror and a long film of unidentifiable fear-inducing organisms.

hello hello. raven here. i would just like to mention the couple of things that i took inspiration from for this applyfic. if you don't know, i love creepypastas and urban legends and cryptids and ghosts, so this fic is kinda like a nostalgic release for me, a bit (a lot) of a labor of love. i drew inspiration from buzzfeed unsolved, ashur garavi, kelsi davies, loey lane, life of luxury, the camp monsters podcast, and of course the many many stories of different urban legends from all over the internet. so that you guys for fueling my little heart and for helping me do one of my favorite things: researching.

by the way, this entire applyfic is going to be written from the perspective of a camera, because cass is videotaping the entire experience. this might sound really weird but trust me on this y'all, it's gonna be a fun time. credit to the wonderful thyme_time for the inspiration for this :)

also obviously i'm gonna include a ton of urban legends and such in here, from around the continental united states. if you have a local urban legend you want to share/want me to include in here, or have a local cryptid sighting spot you want the characters to go to, please please please tell me about it (either pm me or comment here), i am so open to writing it in.
