"Alright class, make sure to give your parents those permission slips for the field trip" I announced as everyone got their belongings

"When we gotta bring them back?" one child asked

"By Friday because the trip is Monday" I answered her, helping her put her stuff in her book bag

"What trip?" a male voice asked from behind me

I turned around and was displeased by the face I saw.

"Mr. Harper" I put on a fake smile

Josh Harper...He's the parent of a student named Layla, but he's also an asshole- a very annoying asshole.

"Hi, Ms. Barnes." he licked his lips "What trip were you talking about?" he asked again

"We're taking a field trip to the zoo and aquarium next Monday" I simply answered "Layla, your father is here" I said

"Have you thought about what we talked about?" he asked

I ignored him, walking over to another child.

"Ms. Barnes" a hint of anger laced his voice

"I'm ready to go" Layla ran over to him, smiling

"Alright sweetie, let's go" he grabbed her hand "Say bye to Ms. Barnes" he told her

"Bye Ms. B" her soft voice said

"Bye Layla, see you tomorrow" I smiled

"Yeah...bye Ms. Barnes" he said slickly before exiting with Layla

Hearing him say my name made me cringe, it feels me with disgust to even be in his presence.

"Ms. Barnes" I felt a tug on my jeans

"Yes?" I looked down

"I didn't get a p-pwe-pwermiss-a paper" he said

I chuckled before reaching on my desk and handing him a permission slip.

"Thank you" he smiled

"Chris answer your phone" Kae nudged me, tossing in her sleep

"Mm" I groaned, reaching on my nightstand just as the ringing stopped

It took a few seconds for my eyes to adjust to the light before I read the : 15 missed calls from Mia ❤️💍

I knew I should've never let her worrisome ass put her number in my phone. She's been calling me nonstop since Sunday after I left.

I got out of bed, going out in the hall. Soon as I reached the hallway the ringing started again.

"What you want?" I whisper yelled

"I miss you daddy" she giggled

"Do you know what time it is?" I asked, not even knowing what time it was

"Real niggas don't sleep" she giggled

"Ain't shit funny. Stop calling my phone, what we did was a one time thing" I explained

"But you acted like you loved me" sadness filled her voice

"Love? Bitch I don't even know you!" I finally yelled

"Chris?" Kae said

"But Chris-"

"Don't call my phone no more" I said before quickly hanging up

"Babe, who was that?" Kae came into the hallway

"Some unknown number" I chuckled

"Oh...well come back to bed" she yawned

"Aight." I followed her back into our room

Cheating on her is wrong, but I only did it like twice. Can you blame me? I'm a man.
