BACKSTORY:

Jade Wilhelmina Crane was born on March 30 to the serial killer Bianca Elmwood and her boyfriend of the time, Russell Whitman. Three days after Jade was born, Bianca killed Russell and added his fingers to her collection.

It was after Russell's death that Bianca was caught, arrested, and sent to Arkham. Jade, one week old, was put into foster care.

Jade lived a pretty shitty early life. She was moved from home to home quite often and exhibited many behavioral issues.

That all changed when Jade was five years old, however. Jonathan Crane, AKA Scarecrow, broke Bianca out of Arkham. The two then proceeded to kidnap Jade from whoever the fuck was fostering her at the time.

Jonathan and Bianca would start dating and later refer to each other as husband and wife, though they were never legally married. Jade started using their surnames hyphenated.

When Jade was a small child, and even into her teen years, Jonathan would use her as a test subject for his Fear Toxin. This would eventually cause Jade to develop an immunity to it.

Two years after Bianca was sprung from Arkham, she got pregnant with Jonathan's child. On October 7, she gave birth to Lewelyn Marie Crane.

Jonathan showed blatant favoritism towards his biological daughter. This caused Jade to be extremely jealous of Lulu.

When Jade was ten, Bianca got caught killing a cop. She was in the middle of chopping off his fingers when Officer Renee Montoya showed up. A shootout ensued and Bianca was killed by seven shots to the head.

Jonathan continued to care for the girls, still using Jade as his personal guinea pig. Eventually, when she was fourteen, she'd built up a complete immunity to his toxin. Jonathan then had no use for her and started treating her horribly. Jade got fed up and left.

Around a month later, Jade was caught by Batman after she pickpocketed some random rich people. He asked why she was stealing and she told him to choke on a dick. He asked if she was homeless and she didn't reply. Her silence told him everything he needed to know. He took her home and adopted her.

Now living with Bruce Wayne, Jade began to rethink her life choices. She was the child of Scarecrow and a serial killer. But that didn't mean she had to be bad, too. Thus, Jade swore that from then on, she'd be a good person.

Her first good deed was rescuing a puppy she found.

Upon her adoption, Bruce enrolled her in Gotham Academy. One day, while walking home from school, Jade heard something whimpering in an alley. She went down the alley and found a german shepherd puppy. It was covered in fleas and severely malnourished. She proceeded to then take it home. From there, Bruce made her take it to the vet. The puppy got treatment and eventually Jade was able to take him home. She named him Mars.

Shortly afterwards, Jade began training to become a vigilante. Six months later, she debuted as Dreadmist. Around this time, Sammy Kyle-Wayne was murdered by their father, the Musketeer.

A year afterwards, Jade went on patrol as Dreadmist in Crime Alley. She stopped a mugging, y'know, the usual. That's when the mugger's friend showed up with a gun. He shot both Jade and the mugging victim in the head.

Jade would be found by Red Robin several hours later.

She was buried in the same cemetery as her parents. However, two months later, she was dug up by Jensen B. Jensen, who took her to Skelecorp labs. Herman Blackwell then brought Jade back to life to experiment on her. She ended up fighting him and he just let her go because she was too much work.

Jade then hitchhiked back to Gotham. If anyone tried anything, she beat them to death.

A week later, she got back home. She showed up on the doorstep on the manor and started sobbing when Alfred opened the door.

She'd tried so hard to be good. And where did it get her? Dead in an alley. Then she was brought back. By some miracle, she was brought back, and she killed seven people.

She tried so hard to be good, but in the end, she was just a killer.

Jade went back to her vigilante work, but became far less brutal. Several criminals escaped her easily because she was scared to hurt them.

One of said criminals was her little sister.

One night, Jade was tasked with tracking a member of the Bigtop Band who'd robbed a convenience store at gunpoint. She ended up finding her ten year old sister, Lulu, with a bag of stolen cash.

The two fought for a bit and Lulu got slammed into a wall. Lulu told Jade what had happened after she left and they made up.
