Alexa Dana Waters was born on July 20, to Jonas Gregory and Aimee Waters. She was the product of rape. They were put up for adoption at birth.

When she was three weeks old, she was adopted by the Fox family.

Lexi grew up in luxury, never having to want for anything. They became rather spoiled at a young age.

When Lexi was three, she found that she could control water.

They were being bathed by their mother and decided they wanted to splash her. Instead of doing this the normal way, she willed the water to come out of the tub and splash Tanya in the face. It did and Tanya wrapped Lexi in a towel and took them to her husband because what the fuck.

Lucius reasoned that Lexi was probably an Elemental, given that her mother's last name had been Waters and Lexi could control water. Tanya agreed and oh well, the Fox family had an Elemental daughter.

For most of their childhood, Lexi hid their powers. Her family didn't want anyone to find out because people could kidnap and experiment on her or shit.

Then, when they were fourteen, Lexi decided they were ready to use their powers for good. She formulated an argument as to why she should be allowed to be a vigilante and presented it to her father. He agreed, as long as they wore a suit he made. I mean, two of his sons were already involved with Batman's crime fighting, why not let his daughter who actually has superpowers?

So, Lexi became Batwave.

As time went on, Lexi's hearing began to deteriorate. Partially from her father's genetics, partially from the constant beatings and explosions and such from the rogues she fought. Eventually, she got special WayneTech hearing aids that doubled as communicators.

Four years later, Elementa revealed that the Grand Elementals were murderers and kidnappers. Instead of the public reacting as she'd hoped and hating the Grand Elementals, global discrimination began to happen against Elementals. If their leaders were killers and kidnappers, why wouldn't their followers be?

So, people began to treat Elementals, or even people with powers involving the elements, terribly.

In Gotham, however, the Elementals had a savior.

Batwave.

Every night, Batwave patrolled in Little Element City, a neighborhood in Gotham. Every night, thugs would beat the citizens and destroy their businesses. Batwave stopped them.

That stopped one night when Batwave was kidnapped.

They were going about their nightly business, when they found a man injured. She went to help him. That's when she was grabbed by three other men, who bound her and forced her into a van. They knocked her unconscious and took her gadgets. Then, they unmasked her.

They were surprised to see Lexi Fox, adoptive daughter of Wayne Enterprise's CEO. Obviously, they did what any logical person would do.

They told the world who Batwave truly was.

Lucius, to protect his child, kept bodyguards on her at all times. Eventually, however, the Grand Elementals were disposed of and Batwave was able to return without fearing for her life.

Shortly after this, Obsidian Tempest, Elementa's son, started hanging around Gotham. Curious, Lexi began to tail him. What business did he have in the slums?

So, Lexi followed him to an abandoned warehouse. There, they found his girlfriend and 97 kids. One of said kids, Athena, found her spying on them. She asked what the fuck they were doing and Lexi said they were following Josh because he was an Elemental, like her. Athena accepted this answer and allowed her inside.

Lexi proceeded to make up a story about wanting to learn to control her powers better. That's how she ended up with an apprenticeship with Elementa herself. In between patrols and training sessions, Lexi would end up visiting the Band and ended up getting very close to Athena.
