Your Story

There was a lot that Tywin took to noticing about Mariah. One of the things was that even though she had no nobility training she still understood common courtesy and when it was the right time to speak and when it was not the right time to interact with someone else.

To say that it drew his attention was an understatement. Silently he would watch her move about the room to either refill his cup or to do an action without his guidance.

"You're very cleaver for a whore you know that?"

Tywin stated one evening when he watched her return back to his room with his tray of food. She just gave him the oddest expression as she sat down his tray for him to start on his dinner.

It had been a long day and very tiring for the both of them. Between his work as hand of the king and her work as his new cupbearer they both had tasks that were in need of accomplishments.

"I wasn't always a whore, my lord."

"No, I suppose not."

Tywin stated after a long moment of silence as he watched her step away from his desk and allow him to indulge in his food.

"So, what made you become one? Aside from running away from home?"

She gave him an odd look. Was Tywin Lannister honestly asking for her background story?

She hardly believe that he had any true interest in what she had to say after the fact that he had made it extremely clear that he would have hung her had it not been for the fact that her father had been loyal to him for many years and had requested against it.

So she highly doubted that he had any interest in anything at all about her. Still who was she to refuse the request of the Lord? Especially someone as powerful as Tywin Lannister himself.

"When I was a child, my mother and I we were separated. I got lost one day and never found her. I was six at the time."

Mariah spoke with her hands folded in front of her. She looked down at his desk instead of at him while she spoke. Tywin, however, did not look away even for a second.

"I was taken in by a family shortly after. They were farmers and they adopted me as their daughter. Some years later they were slaughtered by Lannister solders -- "

"You're sure they were Lannister?"

Her eyes turned up and met with Tywin's.

"As sure as I am standing before the head of House Lannister myself."

He lifted his head a bit before giving a slight nudge telling her to continue.

"A year later, after finding out of my mother's passing, I found myself crossing paths with your son. And now I find myself here."

"So that's your story?"

"More or less my lord."

Tywin hummed as bit before he turned his eyes down to his food. He picked up his fork and took a bite. Mariah stood there the whole time in silence watching as he ate.
