The Barrenness
Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, and months into years. Lord Tywin Lannister had distorted the Royal family and presented them to Robert when he took the throne.
Cersei was also wed to Robert and she became Queen, Jaime was still Royal Guard even after the fact that he had been dubbed Kingslayer after he shoved his sword through Arey's back stopping the war.
Liala had grown as the years passed and the long years taught her much. They taught her how to deal with Tywin and his children better. They taught her how to act and behave like a true Lannister. And they also taught her something else.
"You're barren?"
Tywin's cold voice rose from the spot where he sat. Liala had her head lowered. For three years they had been trying and trying for more heirs and yet nothing came from it. Laila was now ten and seven while Tywin was fourty and five. She never expected this to happen but it seems it did.
"Y-Yes. The Measter has said that I should have given you a child by now, but since I have not this must be the case."
She said softly, her eyes casted down. True she may have learned how to act like a Lannister, but the fact remained that she was scared for her life right now. Tywin had only taken her for his heirs. She was the last remaining Reyne kept alive for that sole purpose after her father foolishly tried to cause an up rise against Tywin's house.
Now she had a great worry that her usefulness to him had run dry and he would surely string her up like he had done with her family.
She heard him sigh and unknown to her he was looking at her with a dissaproved but not angry expression.
"The Gods torment me once more."
He stated as he rose from his chair. He noticed the body language from his wife as he walked around the table and stood before her. He noticed she had still yet to rise her head or to look at him.
Putting his hand on the side of her cheek, he turned her face up to where she could see his eyes.
"You needent be afraid. I'm not going to kill you and string you up like I did the rest of your family. It's my fault for blindly marrying a pretty face."
Laila felt her cheeks warm. He had just complimented her. This was indeed a very rare occasion and one that she most certainly wasn't use to in the slightest.
Tywin noticed the blush upon his young wife's face and cleared his throat allowing his hand to fall from her soft skin. He pulled away from her for a moment and giving her a look as if he was trying to determine something.
Then just when she believed him to move away completely he did the opposite and moved his hand to around her waist and pulled her into him. She gasped when she felt his lips fall upon her own. She closed her eyes and kissed back.
It was not often that Tywin lowered his guard enough to show this side of him but when he did Laila knew that it wasn't to be taken lightly and that she should enjoy it while she could.
Her eyes closed tightly as she pressed her body against his wanting to be closer to her husband. It was only when a knock came from the door behind her did Tywin pull away.
"What!"
He snapped causing Laila to flinch from his booming voice and tone even with it not directed toward herself. The door opened and there Laila felt her cheeks grow warmer realizing that Tywin was still holding her when the squire entered the room with a note in hand.
"A-Apologizes mi'lord mi'lady but a raven from King's Landing came..."
Tywin moved from Laila and walked over snatching the note from the boy. He then nodded his head toward the door.
"Go, leave us."
Needless to say he didn't need to tell the boy twice as the child ran from the room more or less. Laila's brows raised as she looked to Tywin as he read the note.
"My lord? Is everything alright?"
Tywin's eyes glanced over the note a second time before he sighed deeply and then closed it.
"My daughter is with child and is due soon. It seems that she will deliver before the year is over."
His tone was anything but amused. Laila lowered her head. No doubt he was disappointed that his daughter was with child while his own wife was a barren woman.
Tywin noticed this and quickly opened his mouth.
"Stop that. I've already told you and I shan't repeat myself."
He said causing Laila to bow quickly as if for an apology. Tywin sighed and rolled the note back up before he walked past his wife and to his desk.
"I'll see you for supper. I have work."
He said his voice stern yet holding the tone that told her not to worry. Nodding quickly Laila gave another quick bow before she seen herself out of the room.
