Duties

Laila awoken on the 7th and final day of the celebrations. It was a chilly morning. Laila inhaled deeply the cold air coming through her nose and waking her. Fluttering her eyes open she felt a small smile twitch to her lips. Her lord husband sleeping peacefully beside her.

Laila had begun noticing small changes here and there about her relationship with the man.

She started to notice that after three years of being with him, she was slowly letting her guard down. Little by little and bit by bit she couldn't help but notice the smallest differences between them.

One of them being the small moments like this in the morning where she enjoyed just looking at the older man's face while he slept peacefully.

It was truely the only time he seemed at peace. He didn't seem stressed or angry about things and he didn't have any worries.

Slowly Liala leaned forward a bit more and paused. She was close enough to feel Tywin's hot breath upon her lips as she was centimeters away from his. Then slowly and softly as possible she leaned in and kissed him.

It was a long and soft kiss so she was careful to not wake him.

Pulling away her face instantly warmed in embarrassment as she seen green-golden sleepy eyes looking back at her.

"Well now, this is a suprise."

Tywin grumbled. Laila didn't know what to do nor say so she just looked at Tywin with her mouth slightly parted. He inhaled deeply and his eyes fluttered shut for a moment before he opened them again and let out a groggy groan.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to -- "

"You didn't wake me if that's what your apologizing for, Laila."

He said moving in to cover her mouth with his to silence her. It was too early in the morning for him to have her worrying about upsetting him over such a small matter.

Laila relaxed against her husband's lips and kissed back.

"And if you were to decide to do that more often, I would not complain."

He said breaking the kiss and moving to where he was now hovering over her. She couldn't help but crack a small smile as she felt him against her belly.

"Yes, Lord husband. I will remember that."

She said as he decended upon her body with his.

Tywin walked down the hallway with his wife in tow. They had staid in bed for a bit longer that morning that he would have imagined, but he couldn't complain.

Over the years she had become rather skilled in knowing what he liked her to do and then what he loved her to do.

Walking into the dinning hall they joined Robert and Cersei for breakfast.

"Ah! Tywin! Here I thought you'd never join us!"

Robert laughed addressing Tywin, but his eyes falling onto the man's young wife.

"I can only imagine what had you preoccupied this morning."

Robert's words embarrased Laila as she took her seat beside Tywin, who sat at the other end of the head of the table across from Robert. Tywin didn't seem the allow the comment to bother him, but what did seem to bother him was how Robert was eyeing his wife.

"Forgive me your grace, but I am here now."

He said avoiding the subject as being a master in doing so when the time called for it. And the tone of his voice called for Robert's attention away from his wife to look at him.

Robert just chuckled and then laughed whole heartedly. Lifting his glass he held it toward Tywin before doing his wine.

Laila kept her head to her plate of food in front of her and eating quietly beside her husband and sitting next to Cersei.

"Are you returning to the Rock today father?"

Cersei questioned feeling the awkward tension in the room. She smiled softly looking toward her father, who had been in the middle of sipping his own wine.

"Yes. We're both needed back with the celebrations coming to an end today."

"Both? Surely you're not taking your wife back with you? Sure a woman like her could be a great addition to King's Landing!"

Robert grinned causing Tywin to frown deeply and cock a brow.

"Pardon me your grace, but I'm not sure I follow your meaning?"

Tywin spoke up, his head held high as he questioned the king. Robert was grinning looking to Laila, who refused to look to the man - and Robert could sense this from the young girl.

"Surely you'd like to see your wife on my council? Perhaps as Master of Laws or a new Master of Coin! She is after all Lady of the Rock! Finances should be something she's extremely good at!"

Tywin frowned deeply. He was unamused with Robert to an extreme right now and he knew the man. He knew the man was a drunken and lustful fool. The only reason why he wanted Laila to stay behind was to have his way with her.

That wasn't something Tywin was going to allow.

"I'm afraid she's rather ignorant on both accounts. Not that it's her fault however, I just never put the effort into teaching her such things since her only job was to produce my heirs."

Tywin spoke causing Laila to lower her head more. She felt horrible against the things Tywin was saying right now. How he acted so cold and like she didn't even exist right now even though she sat right there beside him listening to every word that fell from his mouth.

The fact that he brought up her only job was to give him heirs and she couldn't even do that right.

Robert looked at Tywin and their gaze seemed to grow rather intense before Robert dropped the staring contest to look to his wife.

"What about your handmaiden then? You're always complaining about how you've wanted a new one. One that doesn't annoy you. Surely you'd get along with your own mother."

The last word from Robert's mouth caused Cersei to involuntary flinch. The same would have happened to Tywin had he not been as hard of a man showing emotions when it came down to it.

Cersei glanced quickly around the table and her gaze landed on her father before falling to the table.

"Laila is needed with my father. She has yet to do her job. I'm afraid it would be wrong of me to ask such a task when her first priority is to my father."

She said with a fake smile as if trying to show her father that she understood why he didn't want Laila left here unattended. Robert sighed deeply and gave a wave of his hand as he fell back upon his chair.

"Fine. Have it your way woman."

He scoffed right as one of the maids came and refilled Robert's glass full to the brim of wine. It didn't take long before he downed the rest of the glass. Tywin took that moment to glance toward Laila and noticed the expression she wore. It was rather sad and she seemed to merely pick at her food at this point.

He sighed deeply through his nose and continued eating knowing that if he managed to survive the rest of this meal it was only several hours until they could make the week long ride back home.
