War

Nobody ever tells you the truth behind it. Everyone always glorifies it and chalks it up to this side is winning or this side is but the truth is there's so much more to it.

There is rape, pillaging, unnessecary murder and destruction.

And to be counseled by anyone who wasn't a man in these times was shown as weak. But was a man truly weak if he sought out counsel by someone wiser than himself even if that person were a woman?

The answer was most defiantly not.

And that is where Garnet came to find herself as a ward to Tywin Lannister. Shortly before the passing of Joanna Lannister, Garnet appeared at Casterly Rock. Nobody knew her. Nobody knew of her until she made herself known.

She was young, a child, no more than ten name days old.

And yet there she stood in the mist of Casterly Rock with nothing but the clothes on her back and Tywin Lannister glaring down at her.

"What are you doing here?"

He asked looking into those purple eyes of her. She was frowning deeply, her nose chilled as she had marched from the North to come here as instructed.

"I am here to serve you, my lord."

She said brushing some of her dirty nearly white hair out of her face. Tywin felt his nostrils flaring. Joanna could see them flaring. She reached out and took her husband's hand within hers to try and calm him.

"Child, what is your name?"

"My name is Garnet, my lady Lannister."

"Garnet, pretty name for a pretty girl. And where is it you come from Garnet?"

"The North."

The child said softly. Tywin rose from his chair in the great hall, startling Joanna, watching as her husband became even more angered.

"Enough games! Why are you here!"

Tywin shouted, his voice echoing off the walls of the large room. But Garnet did not shutter away nor did she show the great lion fear.

"I don't know my lord, only that my father has sent me a long way to serve you."

Joanna looked to her husband, her hand over her stomach. Their children Cersei and Jaime standing off to the side listening to their conversation.

"Your father?"

"King beyond the wall, my lady."

Joanna narrowed her eyes. This child was an odd one to her. An exceedingly odd one.

"It... cannot be..."

She could have sworn she heard her husband whisper under his breath. She looked up to him and for the first time in a long time she had seen a shocked expression resting on his face.

"Escort this child to my sept. I will continue this conversation alone."

"Lord husband?"

"I will be back shortly."

It wasn't long till Tywin and the small child was in his room alone together. Tywin didn't bit her taking a seat, he didn't bother doing much of anything as he looked at the child.

"Strip."

He ordered. The child stood still. She didn't move even after being ordered to strip.

"Now."

He ordered. The small child couldn't help but chuckle a bit.

"Fully naked, or just so you might see the marking on my arm?"

"Show me!"

He shouted, causing Garnet to scoff and move her dirty hair out of her eyes. She then movedto pull her right arm sleeve up and that's when Tywin seen it.

The tattoo that his once love had.

The Lannister seigle in black marked into the skin of her arm.

"Why are you in this form? A small child that is a Targaeryan no less?"

"How else was I to get an audience with you without raising the enemies suspicions? Walk in here looking like my old self?"

She asked as her voice changed as well did her body slowly start to morph into the young woman Tywin recalled from long ago.

His heart stopped in his chest even after knowing for a moment that this was Garnet, his old friend, mentor, lover.

"Oh, I guess I didn't have it long enough?"

Garnet said as she looked at the dress that was now more or less a shirt on her curvy body. Her bottom exposed to Tywin, her large breasts barely contained, her lush and fat hips exposed to him along with her...

"What are you doing here?"

He asked unfazed by her naked body, watching as she shed her shirt and tossed it to the ground. Her eyes with a few blinks had turned back to the proper blue-gold he recalled and her dirty brunette hair came back.

"I've returned because the Starks and Bolton's are still having at one another. I'm rather tired, father is tired, we're all tired. So I left."

"You were with the Starks then?"

Tywin spat. Garnet rolled her eyes as she made her way to his spare wardrobe that sat in his sept. Opening the door she gazed inside before pulling out clothing that would suit her needs.

"Come now Tywin, surely you're not still testy about -- "

"You left! You left and we were to be -- "

There came a knock on the door right as Garnet was pulling her britches up. She turned her back to the door knowing that whoever was about to enter was going to be rather shocked to see her exposed to them.

So when she turned Joanna opened the door.

The pregnant woman stood there shocked to see the woman tying up her husband's clothing on her own body. Tywin had entered the room with a child, but this woman now stood there before her.

"Who is this!"

Joanna roared at the hideous scene before her.

"My lady, Garnet Donnavan is my fully name."

She said grabbing a top and moving it over her head before she turned back around to face Joanna. The woman stood there wide-eyed at the name and the woman who gave it.

"Lady Garnet Donnavan? Former Hand to the Mad King's father?"

"All the same, yes."

Joanna was at a loss for words when her husband spoke up. She swallowed harshly, never expecting in her lifetime to ever see the woman again.

"My lady, I didn't think you -- "

"We're still alive? Good that was the point."

She said smoothing out her black britches and creamy undershirt. Garnet sighed and combed her hand through her dark shirt locks.

"Why did you wish to make others believe you'd died?"

Joanna questioned closing the door fully to keep things private. Tywin cleared his throat.

"What did you need Joanna?"

He asked causing his wife to look to him. She was frowning while rubbing her stomach.

"I wished to know what you were doing to a child, but now I see why you've done what you've done."

Joanna said as she turned and looked at Garnet.

"The Mad King wants your head."

Garnet sighed deeply and adjusted her - well Tywin's - britches.

"He can get in line."

She replied honestly not caring.

"I stopped caring the moment, no actually I never really gave a damn about that spoiled brat king in the first place."

Garnet corrected herself as she walked toward Tywin. Joanna watched from afar as her husband and the shape shifting woman from beyond the wall came close to one another.

"I only ever cared about one person and the safety of the realm."

She said facing Tywin. It was clear to see, the feelings that she still harbored for him were there. Both Joanna and Tywin could see that very clearly as her hand came up and cupped his cheek.

"And nobody is going to stop me from keeping safe what I care for."
