Flattery

In the mist of Casterly Rock Tywin found himself sitting with Garnet. The two of them had yet to leave his study even after Joanna had come and went. The woman, even with as strong as she was, knew that this was no time or place for herself.

And the trust that she had in her husband was unwavering, even with Garnet there.

It shouldn't have been.

Tywin was wrapped up in so many different emotions that even he was unable to think straight.

"I would think your whole race to be a fable if you yourself weren't someone I had met."

Tywin stated causing Garnet to turn and look at his slightly aged face. She smirked softly as she played with the small golden trinket in her hands.

"Joanna the same. She thought me dead?"

"She tried to have me think you dead."

Tywin said his eyes havin never left Garnet for fear that she would slip through his fingers yet again.

Garnet hummed, turning the small trinket around in her hands.

"How are your mines?"

She questioned causing Tywin to arch a brow.

"Still filled to the brim with gold, just as you left them."

She hummed, apparently happy with his answer. It was true, Garnet had used her powers to turn the rocks that had no gold in them, all the way to miles and miles down, to pure gold.

But that wasn't all her mystical powers had to offer.

"I heard tales of a war brewing. The king, Areys, has taken the throne and gone rather mad."

Her eyes finally flicked up from her toy and she gazed into Tywin's eyes. He nodded. Watching as she tilted her head to the side with a smile.

"I also heard that in my absence, you became his Hand; well done Lord Tywin."

Tywin felt his heart pounding causing him to quickly rise from his chair. He scoffed walking toward his desk and pulling out some papers.

"Flattery won't get you anywhere with me, my Lady."

Garnet smiled softly.

"We'll see about that."

"Well, I haven't changed even after all these years, my Lord, so you'll have to forgive me if I overstep something."

She said grinning. Tywin stopped shuffling around with his papers and pulled forth one out of the pile, along with a very small box from inside his desk. Garnet arched a brow.

She knew that box.

"I have something for you."

Tywin said as he approached her. He returned from his desk with the box and a piece of parchment in hand. Arching a brow Garnet took forth the parchment and the box, her fingers brushing against Tywin's own.

"What is this?"

She questioned opening up the paper first. Her eyes skimmed across the paper widened ever so little as she read.

"Tywin, you can't be serious?"

She questioned lifting her head up and looking at him. He didn't reply as she looked down and opened the box. There inside was indeed what the paper foretold.

"I won't always be around and Joanna... We need someone to insure that Jaime stays safe if he is to one day take my place."

"But to become his ward. Tywin, my Lord, I am your ward."

Tywin was quiet as he nodded toward the paper.

"And in my death, I grant you the favor in becoming his. He'll need someone strong and wise to guide him. Just as I was guided."

Garnet looked down into the box, her heart ached.

"You kept it? After all these years?"

She asked looking back up to Tywin noticing the hurtful look that lingered in her own eyes.
