Protect This Family

Lord Tywin Lannister was a man that nobody in their right mind would dare to trifle with or cross for any reason.

He was a man that all other men feared. So much so that he earned his respect by restoring his family house to its former glory through means that other men wouldn't dare attempt. Giving him the much deserved respect that he had now.

Respect from fear itself.

Tywin Lannister was a proud old lion that had made his mark on the world -- but not without help.

Many people also knew that Tywin Lannister had a ward - a woman ward. A ward that - she too - had also been Hand of the King at one point in time. A ward that had helped carry the Lannister family name for at least the last 400 years.

How one might ask?

Old magic.

Yes.

Magic that had been acquired when she came from the North of the Wall. It was a curse some might say. A curse that had stopped her from aging. A curse that had gained her the power to transform into any beast that she could believe with the powers of shifting shape.

And it was from this that the woman was able to help the Lannister House see that when the Targaryens attacked 300 years ago it would be smarter to give up the crown rather than be destroyed by fire.

Yes, this very same woman that was ward for Tywin Lannister.

However, this woman also went missing fifteen years ago after she had assisted in helping attack King's Landing and taking the crown back from the Targaryens.

And even though Tywin Lannister would never admit it out loud that he would have preferred her help currently it was rather obvious to the rest of the family that Tywin could have most certainly used it.

His eldest son Jaime had been taken captive and he was in the mist of fighting Robb Stark - and undoubtedly losing to a child believing to be King of the North.

It was infuriating to Tywin that he had been placed in such a postion and having to clean up the mess of his grandson - who was nothing more than a childish king - after calling for the head of Ned Stark instead of doing the tactical thing and throwing him into the Black Keep.

Perhaps then maybe Tywin wouldn't have had to send his son Tyrion to be acting Hand of the King in his stead while he was out here fighting a pointless war with Robb Stark's army.

It was times like these that Tywin wished to have his ward again - where ever in the Seven Hells she had ventured off to and had yet to return.

But as of now Tywin Lannister stood in his acting chambers at Harrenhal looking over battle tactics.

His small council - Tywin quickly leaned - were of little to no help to him. True they might carry the Lannister name but none of them were as smart nor held the same ambitions as he when it came right down to it.

Hell one of them he had dismissed back to Lannsport due to his whining and the other for the fact that he was an idiot and could barely read.

Being as frustrated as he was Tywin wished for nothing more than some type of miracle that perhaps in his greatest time of need his ward would show up and help him to win this war.

But even that was a very long shot in the dark. And not one that Tywin had the option of giving up time to take.

He knew he had to rely on the tools that he currently possessed and that one of them was not his ward.

Several days passed and it was apparent that Tywin Lannister's luck was no where to be found. During another small council meeting Kevan - Tywin's younger brother - had received word that the Baratheons were planning to attack King's Landing.

Tywin was furious to not only have the wolves at his door but now he had the deer threatening his family from the sea. Some of his council suggested that his family should flee. It was a fool's notion to even suggest.

He had worked too hard to place his family back on the throne and restored his house name to its former glory only to have them flee at the sign of trouble.

No. He would not have them run and perhaps die while running like cowards and giving up the crown to another fool.

Instead he would take half of his remaining army and head to King's Landing to fight off the threat.

He would slay them all and watch as their ships sank to the bottom of the sea. It would be an all out blood bath between the Lannisters and the Baratheons.

Riding long and hard, Tywin made his choice to assist King's Landing and just in the nick of time.

The Baratheon army was scaling the castle walls when he arrived. Most of their fleet had already sank to the bottom of the sea while engulfed in Hell Fire that seemed to have been launched at some point during the fight.

Tywin wasn't sure as to who had given the order for it, but whoever it was had made a very good call.

With most of the fleet sent to the bottom of the ocean Tywin didn't have to worry about an attack from the sea and could focuse on the men here on the land. He along with Loras Tyrell lead their armies and charged into the middle of the fight.

Pulling his sword forth he charged with his army. His golden armor flickering as the light from the fire on the shore caught and danced off the reflective metal. Bringing his sword down onto the first man Tywin sliced through him as if he were butter.

His men followed suit while riding through the footmen that threatened their kingdom. The sound of steel hitting steel echoed through the open night air mixing either the bloody screams of injured and dying men.

Being atop his large and white stallion Tywin swung his sword down onto one man after another. It was only that after Tywin reached the center of the fight that he had quickly become out numbered by footmen and was left surrounded.

He did not hault his attack however and instead kept advancing.

Then from the corner of his vision within his helmet he noticed an archer that had his sites on him. The bow and quiver at the ready. Intended for a kill shot against Tywin. The archer was too far away for Tywin to attack and was surrounded by far too many men to advance in time.

He knew what was next to come.

He knew he was helpless to stop it from happening.

But then suddenly and almost out of no where a fearsome roar came and Tywin watched for a split second as a very large lion came out of a group of fighting men and pounced on the very archer's back.

Sharp teeth ripped through the skin like it was parchment. The man being tackled from behind was sent to the ground, his attack halted. Screaming in fear and agony as his throat was ripped out by the large teeth of the lion he died chocking on his own blood.

His screams finally ended when a snap from the neck was heard.

Tywin kept slicing through the men surrounding him as another loud roar erupted from the large cat. Panic spread through the enemy footmen when they viewed the blood covered lion that was now perched upon a large rock with wild eyes that overlooked the battle there on the beach.

Men screamed for their lives. Some even dropping their weapons as they ran trying to flee faster after seeing the huge beast baring its fangs toward them.

Refusing to fight anymore after seeing the large monster atop the rock, taking it as a omen of the Lannister army, the men ran fast as their legs could carry them.

Knowing that they had no chance of winning now and would rather run than be ripped apart by the beast. Which in the end caused the Lannister army to win.

Once Tywin sliced through the last remaining man that stood in his way he his attention returned back to the lion now taking notice of it being perched on the large rock giving another roar that sounded much like and victorious battle cry.

Even Tywin's large white stallion had to be controlled as it wished to flee from the proud lion that stood upon the rock and made itself well known.

The Lannister men cheered all of them including the ones on the wall, all of them but Tywin Lannister himself.

Instead Tywin's gaze was locked with golden beast eyes from the lion that seemed to stand tall and unwavering as it peered down at him. The lion watching as Tywin road over on his stallion hopped down behind the rock vanishing from view for a moment only for a woman to walk out from behind the stone.

She looked up at him and he gazed down at her with such a stoic expression that she couldn't tell if he was happy to see her or not.

"Go. Save your city Tywin." She called out to him with a smug look upon her face. Her tone strong much like he remembered.

"Will you run if I leave?" His question caused a chuckle to pass through her lips while she shook her head and motioned toward the castle.

"Go. I'll finish things up here and join you shortly. Your family needs you." Although Tywin didn't need to be told the obvious, he was glad to know that she still understood the importance of his family.

Kicking the sides of his horse Tywin road forth into King's Landing with his army trailing behind him toward the castle to inform his family that they had won the battle.
