29 - Debilitated

(I GOT TO 3K READS! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH <3)

Sans looked up with a small smile on his face. "Thanks... Frisk. Thank you. I'm gonna make it up to you soon." He said. His voice was hoarse and tired, as if he was tired of everything. He looked drained, both of life, and hope.

He had a stiff smile and an eased look on his face. Frisk couldn't tell if it was a mask or not. He was finally able to let out the breath that he didn't know he was holding.

Frisk nodded with a forced smile on her face.

She didn't want to live with these promises. She didn't know if she could even live to make them. She was burdened by these promises. She thought she could fullfill them all, but now? She didn't think so.

"Just... Go back to your brother. Keep him safe. For me..." Frisk whispered.

Sans gave her a small nod. He pocketed his hands. "Hey... Um. Kid?"

Frisk looked at him.

"Try to play it safe." He looked at her with the most sincere glint in his eyes. The hall was pounding with deafening silence. The only sound present was the gentle chirping of the birds, the soft rays of light peeking from the large fenestellas, while the light turned a different shade from the stained glass. The color orange dominated the entire hall.

The marble floor was spotless, and the beauty of the room seemed to be comforting.

He was about to say something else, but shook his head and looked down.

And just like that, in the blink of an eye, he was gone.

Frisk sighed. She turned around to face the door towards the throne room.

Her blood suddenly ran cold. Her face paled, her breathing quickened. Her heart pounded, pure nervousness and fear running through her veins.

This might be the last time she would ever feel safe. At least for a little bit. Once she opens this door, all her feelings of comfort and protection would instantly vanish.

Her hand shook as she took a deep breath. She slowly opened the door. She stepped inside and closed it.

Suddenly, she found herself yelping and then screaming. She was pinned to the wall. Two large swords were nailing her to the door, barely missing her shoulders by an inch.

"WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?"
