CHAPTER 25
I parked my car in the middle of his building and stomped over to my father's office.
As I neared one of his men stopped me telling me he had ordered that nobody come in.
I punched him across the jaw making him stumble to the door before forcing the door open breaking its lock.
"Theodore?" The man behind his desk with a woman in his arms asked.
"Get out" I ordered the woman and she looked back and forth between the both of us.
"Now!" I yelled and she scurried out of the room.
"What is this about Theodore?" He asked and I clenched and unclenched my jaw.
"Has it come to the point that you wany to kill me?" I questioned.
"What are you talking about, I would never want to kill you, you're my son" he said.
"Don't ever call me that, I barely consider you a father" I scoffed.
"Theodore!" He shouted.
"Travis!" I retorted and he stared at me with wide eyes.
"Is this because of your little plaything?" He asked and I frowned confused.
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
"The Anderson girl, your boys informed me you've been clinging to her and visiting her quite frequently" he said and I clenched my hands so tight I thought my vein would pop.
The boys snitched on me?
"I thought my instruction was clear when I sent you to investigate her, find out if she's Xadrian Anderson's daughter and you've done that, so what are you still doing around her?" He asked and I froze.
"I was still curious about somethings" I said and he scoffed.
"Is that why you failed to kill her father?" He asked.
"Is that why you sent your man to kill me?" I asked.
"I sent him to kill her but only when you two where together to see if you would protect her and confirm my suspicion, did the poor thing die?" He asked with a smirk.
"This will be the last time you target her life, she has nothing to do with your obsession over a dead woman" I said and he finally frowned.
I did a little victory dance in my head.
"Take back what you said" he frowned and I chuckled.
"Travis if you ever attempt anything on Hayley's life again, I'll be sure to kill you myself" I warned and stormed out of his office.
I would have never thought that he was watching me.
He had been watching me all this time.
And my so called friends?
Loyal dogs.
As I was leaving the building I bumped into Alex.
"Watch where you're going!" He said scoffing.
"And watch your back if you don't want to end up dead" I said pushing past him and walking away.
I drove back to the hospital.
When I found no-one in the waiting room, I asked the nurse from earlier who directed me to her ward.
Pushing the door open I found Vandel sitting beside the bed near and unconscious Hayley.
"What exactly happened" he asked staring at me expressionless.
But looked like if I gave an answer that didn't please him my head would roll to the floor.
"Hayley called me out to tell me something, while we where taking a walk she suddenly pushed me away but the bullet hit her.
"You where the target?" He asked and I nodded.
"Why was someone trying to kill you in broad daylight?" He asked.
"I also don't know" I said and he narrowed his eyes at me.
"I find that hard to believe" he said but asked no further questions.
"Thank you for rushing her to the hospital" he said and I only nodded still feeling at fault.
I stayed with Vandel although the night ignoring all my phone calls.
I had fallen asleep in my chair and when I woke up, I found Vandel still watching over Hayley.
Did he not sleep?
Hayley stirred for a bit causing Vandel and I to stand up.
She groaned before her eyelids fluttered and she looked at the both of us, taking in her environment.
"Where am I?" She asked.
"The hospital" I replied.
"How do you feel baby girl?" Vandel asked placing his hand against her forehead.
"Dizzy and there's a numbing pain in my right hand" she replied and he smiled.
"It will wear off soon" he assured with a smile while I hadn't taken my eyes off her.
"Theo why are you here?" She asked.
"Why did you take the bullet instead?" I asked.
"I... I couldn't let you die" she murmured.
"Why?" I asked suddenly angry.
"You're such an amazing..."
"Hayley" I called and she sighed.
"I couldn't let you die before telling you what I called you out for" she said with a small smile.
"Which is?" I asked and she blushed.
"Vandel could you give us a moment?" She asked and he hesitate before smiling and leaving the room.
"Theo I..." she started sitting up and I reached out to help her.
"After asking for Joan's advice, I decided it was best to let you know" she started and I nodded.
"Theo, I... I.. think" she said looking down and I stared at her confused.
"I think I like you" she said turning more red and didn't bother to raise her head while I just stared at her.
Why would you like someone like me?
Why would you put your life on the line for someone like me.
I suddenly felt bad about manipulating her.
I stared at her smiling with her head down and hated myself.
"Hay, thank you for telling me" I said.
"But you deserve better" I said with a small smile leaving forward to plant a kiss on her forehead.
"I'll be back soon" I said leaving the room and the building.
I looked at the picture on her phone screen once more.
The resemblance between her and the couple was unmistakable unlike that between her and Vandel.
After she had called Vandel by hid first name in the hospital I confirmed it.
Hayley was Xadrian's and Luna's rather.
I would never let my father find out.
