Two

I woke up with a horrible headache. My body hurt in places I didn't even know I had. I groaned. I could see the bright sun glaring through my closed eyelids. I heaved a sore arm onto my eyes, grunting with the effort.

I sighed heavily, remembering what had happened. What was that? Where had it taken me to? Before I could continue to question myself, I heard heavy footsteps coming in my direction.
I froze, trying to calm down my increasingly rapid heartbeat. I forced my breathing to become shallow as the footsteps neared and then stopped right beside me.

I heard a man sigh and mutter to himself, "Seriously, Talia? You need to stop inviting g your friends over. "He said again, heavier this time. I could just imagine him shaking his head along with that sigh.

I felt a gentle nudge on my side. Then another one, harder this time. The man grumbled, "Come on, get up girl." He sighed again. Wow, sighing must be his favorite thing to do. Well, besides poking girls with dirty boots.

Then my arm was being lifted away from my face and I groaned again. My eyes fluttered open of their own accord and I was looking into the greenest eyes I had ever seen. If he noticed me melting into a puddle of girl, he didn't say anything.

He rocked back k on the balls if his feet, not saying anything. He just kept staring at me.
I was too tired to say anything. I closed my eyes. All I wanted to do right now was go back into that blissful, quiet darkness...

"No", I heard a deep, sharp voice say. The man grabbed my shoulders and shook me back into reality. My eyes snapped open and I saw those beautiful green eyes again. My eyes rover around his face, worry written all over it. I too it all in. He had full lips, thick eyebrows, and black hair with dark red tips and his cheeks were the faintest shade of pink.

There was something familiar about his face. Like I knew him from somewhere, but I just couldn't put my finger on it. The man interrupted my thinking. "Um, are you okay? You look kind of dazed", he said.

I opened my mouth, meaning to reply, but found that I couldn't speak. My throat had turned raw from all the screaming I had done.

My eyes widened and my hand went to my throat. My hands flailed around my throat. My breathing became erratic, my chest moving up and down quickly. The man's eyes widened as he realized what had happened. He put his hands out, palms up, his eyes moving from my opening and closing mouth to my flailing hands. His hands latched onto my wrists and pinned them to my sides.

He made eye contact with me, his green eyes serenely calm. "Its okay, it's okay. It'll be alright, just calm down. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth." He said, doing the motions with me until my breathing had calmed down.

He nodded his head. "Good. Now, can you try to stand up?" he asked. I nodded my head weakly. "Good, grab my hand and I'll pull you up." He extended his hand towards me. I put mine in his and he pulled me up gently. My legs buckled beneath me and I stumbled forward, but he caught me before I could do a face plant on the ground.

He put his hands on my shoulders to steady me. "Whoa there. You okay? You look dizzy." I shook my head and waved my hand at him even as a headache pounded into my skull.

He looked doubtful, but he took my hand anyways. "Well, come on, then. The house is this way. I'll have my aunt brew some of her tea for your throat."

I nodded my head again. He pulled on my hand and started walking. I took one step and before I could take another step, a wave of dizziness rushed at me and knocked me back into the blissful, dark oblivion.
