Chapter 1: "Who is he?"

"They held each other's hands and went to follow their friend to see what was going on."

•••

School started filling up. The bell that indicated the beginning of the first morning class hadn't rung yet, but students knew better than to be late to school. The semester had just started, a few weeks ago, and everyone was debating between being excited about how the year would turn out and being extremely sad that the holidays were over.

Groups of friends were gathering around in the halls. One of those groups of friends was Jungkook's. He was talking animatedly with his best friend Taehyung and his girlfriend Rosé, when he saw his best friend's attention being caught by someone passing by them and heading straight to the lockers.

"Shit!" Taehyung exclaimed and went to follow the boy that had just passed them.

Jungkook and Rosé looked at each other in confusion, before shrugging at the same time. They held each other's hands and went to follow their friend to see what was going on. They didn't walk up to them too fast in order to give Taehyung and the stranger boy a little bit of space. Neither Jungkook nor Rosé knew the boy so they weren't really sure why Taehyung had just cursed and ran after him, but were, nevertheless, about to find out soon.

Taehyung followed after the boy as soon as he saw him. Unlike Jungkook and Rosé, Taehyung did know the boy.

Jimin reached the lockers and went for the number 554, which was the one he had been assigned. As soon as he stepped foot inside the school building, he saw Taehyung talking animatedly with his friends and decided not to show any sign that he had noticed his presence. He was too pissed and in no mood to talk to Taehyung right now. The day had just started and it already sucked. Great.

Jimin was opening his locker when he heard a voice behind him, he therefore turned around to see who it was.

"I'm sorry man, I totally forgot." Taehyung spoke, brushing a hand through his brown wavy hair.

"It's fine, I just wish you would have, at least, called me to tell me you weren't coming, so I could have ridden the bus straight away, instead of waiting for you in the cold for half an hour." Jimin let it all out in an annoyed manner.

"Ah," Taehyung seemed really uncomfortable. "I'm really sorry, it totally slipped my mind..."

Taehyung was still mumbling when Jimin saw two figures getting closer to them. Once they reached them, they positioned themselves behind Taehyung. They were both smiling and holding hands, which made Jimin draw the conclusion that they were a couple. The boy was black haired and had big round eyes. He was mildly tall and had a built contexture. Shit. Jimin thought. He really is handsome. And of course he has a girlfriend. He gave himself a mental eye-roll. Next to the handsome boy, the girl had long straight hair, which was dyed in a very light shade of pink. She had a very warm smile and a very friendly face.

"Hi." The girl said, smiling.

Jimin smiled at the same time Taehyung turned around, startled by the voice.

"Oh, guys, this is Park Jimin, he is a new student." Taehyung spoke really fast.

"Oh," The girl continued. "Hello, Park Jimin, I'm Rosé."

Jimin bowed his head to greet her at the same time that Jungkook gave his best friend a confused expression.

"Hi, I'm Jungkook." He then said, smiling.

"Hi..." Jimin trailed off, almost in a whisper. Wow. He thought. These guys are really nice.

"Okay, see you around then." Taehyung suddenly said, grabbing his two friends.

Jungkook and Rosé waved at Jimin, while smiling, before waking away with Taehyung.

"Who is he?" Jungkook asked, elbowing his friend as soon as the new student was out of earshot.

Taehyung sighed. "Well, my mum knows his mum, so... that's how I know him." Taehyung shrugged uninterested.

Jungkook raised his eyebrows as if asking "And?"

"And they moved in to Seoul from Busan, just a couple of days ago, and his mother was kinda worried about him going to a new school and everything, so she called my mum. And now my mum has asked me to help him out and also to pick him up every morning. But my stupid ass completely forgot today."

"Hyung!" Jungkook scolded, slapping his friend's arm.

"Ow!" Taehyung cried, caressing his arm. "I said I forgot, plus I already apologised."

Jungkook rolled his eyes. "No wonder he was looking totally pissed just now." Jungkook stated, before continuing. "Anyway, why aren't you friends with him?"

"Well, I don't know him that much, Kook, I've only seen him a couple of times, when we were kids." Taehyung paused since they had reached a classroom. "I'll see you guys at lunch, yeah?" He said while resting his hand on Jungkook's shoulder.

Jungkook and Rosé nodded at the same time, before entering the classroom. Taehyung was two years older than them so they didn't share any classes with him. The bell hadn't rung yet so the teacher wasn't there. The couple made their way to the last row and sat together at one of the desks.

Not long after Jimin was left alone, he put the books he wouldn't be needing until after lunch inside his locker and closed it. He then studied his schedule, which had been given to him the day he was enrolled at school a week ago and found out that his first subject was Filmmaking. He remembered having picked Filmmaking over Photography, but now, he didn't really know what he prefered. He had been asked so many questions the day he had enrolled that he remembered answering whatever came up to his mind first in an attempt to finish the obnoxious meeting as fast as possible. He saw that the lesson was supposed to be given in classroom 011, but when he started going through the classrooms on the ground floor he noticed none of them had the 0 at the beginning of their number. He passed classroom 5, then 6, 7, 8, until he reached classroom 11. Was classroom 11 the same as 011? Probably not. Dumbfounded, he decided to go ask at the student administration office, which was where he went to be enrolled, so he knew where it was. Unfortunately, the office was in another building. Great. This day couldn't get any better. He sarcastically mumbled in his mind.

Already back at the building where all the classrooms were, Jimin wanted to slap himself for being so dumb. Of course classroom 011 is the same as 11. Stupid. Jimin's stomach churned at the memory of how the secretary had looked at him with pity in her eyes and said as if he was some stupid 5 year old.

"Yes honey, eleven with a zero on the left is the exact same as eleven."

Great. The secretary already thinks I'm dumb. He thought and left the office to walk through the vast school lawn back to the building. Once inside, he made his way to classroom 11 and stepped inside. As soon as he opened the door he knew he was doomed. Shit. Why can't I just make one thing right?

"You are late." The teacher spoke without raising his head from the list of students on his desk. He had been in the middle of calling the roll.

"Sorry." Jimin mumbled and looked down embarrassed. Of course all eyes were on him and there was nothing he despised more than drawing attention to himself.

The teacher looked up from the list to come across a figure he hadn't seen before. "Oh? You are the new student, aren't you?"

"Yes." Jimin bowed.

"Introduce yourself to the class, please."

Even though Jimin dreaded speaking in front of an audience, the teacher seemed to have forgotten his late arrival, which he was very thankful for, so he proceeded.

"Hi, my name is Park Jimin, I just moved from Busan, so... well..." he had run out of things to say.

"So that's why you are here now!" The teacher completed for him, which Jimin appreciated dearly. "Great. One last thing before you go to sit. Why are you two years behind, if your grades are almost flawless?" The teacher asked Jimin while holding some pieces of paper that Jimin guessed were his file.

"Well, when I was younger I had some problems and was absent from school a lot, so I had to redo two years." Jimin finally raised his head from the ground to look at his teacher. The look he was giving him wasn't really a pitiful look, which Jimin also appreciated, he was starting to like that man.

"I see, well, you can go sit at an empty seat, 'cause we'll be starting soon." Jimin finally looked at his classmates and his eyes went straight to the black haired boy, who was smiling encouragingly at him. He was sitting next to his pink haired girlfriend who had one arm entangled around him.

When Jimin noticed he had been staring for a little bit too long, he broke the stare away and blushed imperceptibly. He then made his way to the only empty seat that was left. The girl he would be sitting next to was almost occupying the whole desk and was glaring at him as if daring him to actually sit next to her. Jimin gulped and walked as slow as his feet would let him, praying all the way a lighting would strike at that moment and kill him.

"Oh, actually," The teacher spoke, making Jimin halt in his tracks. "you'll be pairing up to do the project for this first semester, so Rosé you go sit with Mina and Jimin you go sit with Jungkook."

Rosé suddenly snapped her head up from where it was lying on Jungkook's arm to whine a complaint.

"Huh?! Why?! I'm pairing up with Jungkook!" She pouted at the teacher.

"No you are not! Last time you two paired up, you ended up doing anything but the project. So, no, I'm not letting that happen again. I want you to actually work for this one."

Jungkook chuckled before a pouty and sulky Rosé stood up from her desk and made her way towards the empty space next to Mina, making Jimin thank the stars for having saved him from that angry looking girl. Maybe the day wasn't going to be that bad, after all. He metally smirked and sat next to the most handsome boy he had ever laid eyes on.

"Okay!" The teacher spoke up, standing up from his desk, as soon as all the students were settled. "Like I said, you'll be pairing up for this project. You'll be working with the person sitting next to you, okay? The project is supposed to take us the whole first semester and I'm going to be evaluating you depending on the final product." He paused and paced around the room. "Now! You all might be wondering what the project is going to be about, but this is a Filmmaking class, so we are clearly going to be doing some filming. The idea is for you to produce a short film, no longer than 20, 25 minutes. When I say produce, I mean everything, from coming up with the plot, script, scenography to filming it, acting it, editing it, everything. Is that clear?" The students humened in understanding before the teacher proceeded. "Great, as I already told you, the main goal is for you to have the short film done by the end of the semester, but I'll be giving you deadlines because if I don't, I know none of you will do anything until the week before, so," He breathed. "your first deadline is next week. I want you to plan the layout for the short film, okay? I want you to have, at least the plot with characters and everything and maybe come up with ideas of how to film some of the scenes, okay?" He paused again to regard his class. "Now, remember you'll be submitting a draft of the layout for next week, I mean, this won't be the final layout, so don't structure yourselves, okay? Think about it as a brainstorming of ideas, fly high, the sky's the limit." He paused for the millionth time. "Any questions?"

A hundred hands shot in the air, before the teacher signaled to a short girl on the front row to speak.

"Does it have to be about a specific genre?"

"Great question! No! It doesn't! It can be about whatever you want, like I said, the sky's the limit, try to be creative, think out of the box!" He breathed, before continuing. "I actually want you guys to try, I want you guys to put effort into it, not just do something to pass my class, okay?"

Everyone hummed in understanding, before the teacher signaled to another girl, who had her hand in the air, to talk.

"Can we add other actors to the film or it has to be just the two of us?" She asked, pointing at herself and her partner.

"Yes! Of course you can! You can literally do whatever you can imagine, it's not even mandatory for the two of you to act, you can just include other actors or act yourselves or both. You can ask your classmates to star in your films or ask friends of yours that don't even attend this school, anything." He ended, before pointing to a boy sitting in the middle to allow him to ask his question.

"Can we include mature content?"

The room suddenly became silent. The students seemed to have even stopped breathing, since no sound was heard.

"What do you mean by mature content?"

The boy smirked. "Well, you know, strong language, sexual scenes..." He trailed off.

The teacher looked at his class for a second, frowning, he seemed to be in deep thought.

"The school expects me to say no. But since I'm the only one who's going to be watching the films, I say you include whatever you want."

The whole class let out the air they were holding, at the same time that giggles and animated whispers started to be heard across the classroom.

"Okay!" The teacher almost shouted through the buzz that had suddenly been created. "Any more questions?" To the sight of no more raised hands the teacher continued. "Great! So shall we start the lesson then?"

Once everyone nodded and cheered in agreement, the teacher spoke again.

"So, for today I had planned for us to watch some short films for you to get some ideas, okay?"

Everyone cheered and the teacher went to his desk to connect his computer to the projector, before pulling down the white screen.

Jimin, who had been awkwardly sitting next to the boy who would be his partner for the whole semester, opened his eyes wide at the sight of the projector and the white screen. They didn't have those at his previous school in Busan. If they were lucky they could maybe get an eraser for the blackboard.

Once the teacher put on the first short film, Jimin laid his arms on the desk and rested his chin on them. He thought the teacher was pretty cool; he had been very surprised at his response when the boy asked him about mature content. Jimin had been sure that he was going to say "no" right away, and yet, he said "yes".

The short film was kind of boring and Jimin found himself drifting to sleep, when something out of the corner of his eye caught his attention. Was Jungkook looking at him? Or worse. Was Jungkook staring at him? Jimin wanted to turn his head so much, but he resisted. He wouldn't be able to take the awkward moment that would follow.

"Okay class! That's all for today." The teacher said when the last short film finished, making everyone stand up from their desks to get out and stretch their legs. "Don't forget you're submitting the draft of the layout next Monday! Have a good week!"

Jimin stood up and started gathering his things to get out of the classroom. He still had the weird sensation that Jungkook was staring at him, so he didn't dare to look.

"So..." Jungkook spoke out of nowhere, making Jimin snap his head at him.

Yes. Jimin thought. He was definitely staring at me. But before Jungkook could even utter one more word, Rosé reached them and threw her arms around her boyfriend grinning. Jungkook caught her in his strong arms, grinning back and brought her closer to his chest, before kissing her forehead. Jimin looked away awkwardly, thinking the moment was too intimate. Rosé giggled at her boyfriend's cuteness, before finally turning to look at the boy who was clearly becoming uncomfortable. Still in Jungkook's arms she spoke.

"Hi." She smiled.

Now both of them were looking at him and smiling. Jungkook's white teeth were showing, and even though they were perfect, Jimin couldn't help but be reminded of a bunny.

"Hi..." Jimin trailed off awkwardly, while looking down at his feet.

"Wanna go get some food?" Rosé asked her boyfriend, who nodded at her. "Would you like to come with us, Jimin?"

Jimin looked up, startled at the last words.

"You know he's two years older than us, so you should call him oppa." Jungkook stated.

"Oh right, sorry Jimin-oppa," she smiled sweetly. "I wasn't paying too much attention at the beginning of the class." She looked at Jungkook and giggled. The latter grinned at her cuteness. "Anyway, see you around." She finally said, before pulling Jungkook by the hand and leaving Jimin standing alone in the now empty classroom.
