TRIGGER WARNING: BLOOD, STABBING ETC.
The clock struck midnight. Another wish to happen.
Mommy, why are there so many monsters under my bed?
The child asked, looking at me with her stormy grey eyes. She sat in my lap. She is quiet that I hardly hear her footsteps.
Oh, my child, it's the demons that haunted me. It's stashed in there for safe keep. I said, stroking her platinum hair, with an arm around, holding her close.
But mommy, why is it under my bed? Shouldn't it be under yours?
The child asked again. Curiosity I see.
Because they need innocent souls to be kept anchored. To visit in all the dreams. I said.
She turned around and touched my face, with her delicate pale fingers...and as if the air wrapped her in, she disappeared.
Instead, a knife appeared in my hands, my fingers curling around the carved handle of the beautiful. It was unreally perfect. Evoking a scream from me, it started to stab me, again and again, my hands moving robotically. And somewhere in between, I started to laugh like a maniac, the soulless laughter shaking the walls.
I saw the blood flowing, trickling down my limbs all over. It made my crepe white dress go a deep shade of scarlet. I felt everything moving and I tried to focus. I could hear the ticks and tocks of the clock, along with the constant yet rapid pulse. I stared at the running handle of the clock. It stared back, stuck in midnight.
Tick tock
Tick tock
I heard the footsteps nearing. I hid behind the cupboard. Still bleeding, the scent of blood, like a perfume, enchanted the room.
The large oak door creaked to open.Time came in, his platinum blonde hair shining in the light, his icy grey eyes ice-cold as ever, unwavering and he said
Let's go
I stepped out of my hiding place. Time held his ivory hands out for me to take. With the knife hid up in my sleeve, I walked out of the room. Nowhere to hide.I walked along the corridor of the 13th floor, in hands with Time. I looked around. I do remember this. I looked around for ways to hide. Nothing.
I saw the green lights at the end of the corridor. I didn't want to be seen in green lights. Red always looks black in green lights to me. I didn't want to go. I looked down at my hands interlinked Time, not tightly though. Without thinking twice, I drew my hands away and pushed Time off from 13th floor.
And ran back to my room. But it wasn't there. All there was a small door. I threw the door open. And walked in. I felt myself tripping and falling. It was a cliff. Beautiful...I was flying. The height scared me, but it doesn't matter. I am free, finally. and I am going back home. The home I waited for all these years. Air thick in my lungs. I shivered in the wetness of blood all over myself. I try to stay awake, but I couldn't. Mist threatened to lull me to sleep. The winds carried me ...I watched the greenery peeking through the mist and enticed how beautiful it can be.....And then everything went red. To black.
Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night."― Edgar Allan Poe
