lazing on a sunday afternoon (pt 1)

*Tyler, Korey and the kids spend a Sunday together as a family! Thank you for helping me write this BrianBadgerMay enjoy! Love • Bree 😍*

It is a beautiful, warm, lazy Sunday morning, and Tyler, Korey, Hazel, Rory, Archer and Sparrow are up and going.

Tyler is making vegan French toast with Archer while Korey is doing laundry with Rory.

But Sparrow and Hazel are watching one of Hazel's favorite shows, Andy and The Oddsocks. It has a lot of music and instruments. Plus after all, she does play maracas.

*Archer, Sparrow, Hazel and Rory's outfits. Archer is wearing gray jeans and Sparrow is wearing holey blue jeans*

"That Rio! And Moxy! I wike Moxy!" Hazel points out.

"Yeah! I like Cousin Mac! He makes cool inventions! And plays keyboard, just like me!" Sparrow grins, happily watching.

All the kids enjoyed the show, to be fair, so did their parents.

"Haze! What does Moxy play?" Archer calls out, flipping a piece of bread over in the batter.

"Drums!!" Hazel yells excitedly.

"That's right!" Archer says back.

Tyler also prepared some fresh fruit that was in season, letting his son do most of the cooking since it was easy and he was close by for safety.

Rory was taking clothes out of the dryer and putting them in a basket, while her dad put dirty clothes and detergent in the washing machine.

"Thank you for helping me, Rory girl! You are such a big helper!" Korey says as he smiles down at Rory.

"Da daaaa!" Rory says as she giggles and happily kicks her feet.

"Let's get these wet clothes in the dryer! Wanna help?" Korey asks Rory as he kisses her cheek.

"Yaaa ba ba!" Rory says as she helps the way she can, getting the next load of clothes in the dryer.

"Oh, you did it! That's great!" Korey says once all the clothes are inside the machine.

"Yaaaay!" Rory cheers for herself, something many toddlers do.

Korey presses start and the two of them go into the other room, with the clean laundry in a basket. Rory had also snuck into the basket.

"Hey, where's Rory? Where'd she go?" Korey pretends to be oblivious. It was obviously heavier than it usually is.

"That's a good question," Tyler acts too, smiling. "Oh well, guess she won't be here for breakfast."

"Ta-daaa!" Rory sticks her head up with a giggle.

"Oh my goodness! She was there the whole time!" Korey declares as if he were surprised.

Rory giggles and smiles at Korey and Tyler.

"Let's get you out of this basket so Daddy can get the clothes put away." Tyler says as he picks up Rory and Rory smiles ear to ear.

"Love you, baby girl!" Korey says to Rory, doing the kissy lips at Rory.

"Ba ba ba da da!" Rory says as she gives Korey a kiss.

"Let's see what your big sister and big brothers are doing!" Tyler says as he kisses Rory's cheek.

"Yeah!" Rory puts her arm on Tyler's shoulder very casually, imitating what she'd seen everyone else do.

Korey puts away the laundry with a smile, not minding it at all. Sure, it's work, but he loves the kids.

"Aaah! Do?" Rory tries to ask, not quite there.

"What am I doing? Setting the table! The food is ready." Archer replies happily.

Archer and Sparrow were fluent in sibling language, especially because they always had each other, but this also means they understand their sisters when no-one else can.

Tyler walks over to Sparrow and Hazel, who are at the end of the episode they were watching.

"Ooh! They're watching a show together. Do you know that?" Tyler says to the baby of the family.

"No," Rory shakes her head, then laughs when she gets tickled. "Mama! Eee Bwu!" She points, proving she does know.

"Oh, you see Blu in the show? Is he your favorite character, honey?" Tyler questions, getting a nod in agreement.

Currently, Rory was interested in bass guitars - their look and sound. Blu, the fictional character, plays bass.

Sparrow then turns off the TV and the family all sits down and begin to eat.

"Mmm, this looks soooo good! We did awesome, Mom and Spare!" Archer says with a cheeky grin.

"I have to agree, Archer! This looks and is really good!" Korey says, eating his piece of vegan French toast.

"Aaaa!" Rory squeals loudly,

"Is it good, Rory? Hmm?" Tyler asks Rory as he wipes off Rory's cheek that has jelly on it.

"Ya!" Rory says with a big approval.

Rory has been intro trying lots of new foods, something her big sister Hazel didn't do at her age. Hazel is still a picky eater but is getting better each day.

"Do you like it, Hazy?" Archer asks Hazel and Hazel smiles at her big brother.

"Uh huh! It's good! I wike it alwot!" Hazel says with a big grin as she sips on her milk.

"I'm glad to hear that!" Archer beams, proud of himself as well that everyone loves their food.

"It really is great, Archeroo! Tastes just like it has eggs and milk! I only helped a bit, then Hazel wanted to watch her show." Sparrow laughs.

Hazel is playing with her vegan French toast in between eating it, in her own world for a moment.

"Aww, thanks," Archer stays quiet for a minute afterwards, contently. He changes the topic, "Mom, are we doing anything today?"

"Well, I thought since it's been nicer outside, we could go to the beach." Tyler suggests.

Even if it was hot, being near the ocean is much cooler than it normally would be. Plus, they hadn't had a family outing in a while.

"Go to the beeeeach!" Hazel cheers, suddenly listening and intrigued.

"Beee!" Rory claps her hands, no clue of what was happening. She was just excited like her sister.

"Yeah! Let's go to the beach! We need to pack a little bag!" Korey says as she holds Rory.

"YAY! BEEEEEEEACH!" Hazel yells as she runs around happily.

Tyler and Korey both smile at the girls excitement and they begin to get a bag packed full of the girls bathing suits, diapers and other things you would need for a beach day.

"Archer! Sparrow! Get a little bag packed with your things, okay?" Korey says, calling for Archer and Sparrow who are both in their bed rooms

"Okay!" Archer and Sparrow both say in unison with big cheeky smiles.

The boys start putting things in a sturdy tote bag, which included their bathing suits, sunglasses and a beach ball.

"We haven't been in a while, so this sounds really fun." Archer says and thinks if he needs to pack anything else.

"Oh, for sure! We can build sandcastles." Sparrow agrees.

Tyler packs some plastic buckets and shovels as well, knowing they'd want those.

Sparrow and Archer get on flip flops instead of tennis shoes, and they go back downstairs to see how everyone else is doing.

After the family gets things ready, they head to the car and buckle up, driving to the beach.

Of course, they have music on the way too, like they always do.

In about twenty minutes, the car has arrived at the location, so the kids and parents get out and walk towards the sand.

Rory is wearing some little baby sunglasses which are adorable on her, making her look very cool as she glances at everything.

"She really loves those, doesn't she?" Korey asks. Almost every time Rory's gone outside, she wants to wear the shades.

"Really. But it's cute. I think it's because the boys do, but not as often as she does." Tyler nods, Rory in his arms.

'At least it's protecting her eyes,' Korey thinks.

Sparrow sets up two beach towels so they can sit on the sand, and then he and his brother go to get dressed in the public bathroom.

Tyler, Korey, Rory and Hazel all sit on the blanket in the sand.

"Daddy! Wet's make sand castles!" Hazel says with excitement.

"Sure baby! Rory, do you wanna help too?" Korey says to Hazel and then Rory.

Rory happily crawls over to the sand and begins to stick her hand in the sand.

"That's sand, baby! It feels weird huh?" Tyler says in babyfied voice at Rory and Rory squeals happily.

Hazel does the flipping buckets of damp sand upside down too, after a few failed attempts. It takes a bit of time to get it.

"I don't think she's ever seen the sand!" Archer says when they return and sit on the blanket.

"No, I don't think so." Tyler shakes his head, wondering.

Rory then grabs a handful of sand and Korey watches her warily, as a parent should.

But she doesn't shove sand in her mouth, like most babies, and puts it over her head, which may as well be the same thing.

"Oh, don't do that, Rory! No, we don't dump sand on our hair." Korey says and she just giggles.

"I know it's interesting! But you'll need a bath!" Tyler says gently.

Rory nods and doesn't do it again, instead picking up seashells to hold.

Hazel and Korey begin to make a sand castle together with Korey doing most of the work.

Archer and Sparrow walk over to the ocean to get two buckets of water to help with making sandcastles.

"The water is soooo cold!" Sparrow says as he playfully shivers.

"Yeah it is!" Archer says with a giggle.

"I'm surprised! Everyone online said the water is warmer lately. Maybe not today." Tyler says as Archer and Sparrow sit back down.

"It always feels cold, though," Archer comments. "Much more than outdoor pools, even."

"Mama, wah! Go wah!" Rory asks to go in the water.

"You're right. But the weather has been all over the place lately, so that might be it too." Tyler shrugs, taking Rory to get her dressed in her bathing suit.

"Your brothers say it's cold, baby! But let's get you dressed so you can touch the water if you like." Tyler says, which seems to be a satisfying answer for her.

"I wanna get water too!" Hazel says when Sparrow brings more ocean in a bucket.

"Okay, but you need to change clothes." Korey replies, digging a moat.

"I'll take her. Here's Rory." Tyler puts his youngest child near his fiancé, holding his hand out for Hazel to take.

Rory is soon in her bathing suit, but for now is playing with the wet sand mixture, curious about the new texture.

Tyler and Hazel come back from the changing area with the both of them in their bathing suits.

"Aaaa!" Rory squeals loudly.

"Yeah! The sand is all wet!" Korey says in a babyfied voice, causing Rory to clap her hands and smile.

"Let me get my sunglasses on and then we can dip our feet in the water!" Tyler says with a big grin.

"I want mine too! Pwease!" Hazel says as she dances happily.

"Thank you for using your manners, Hazzy! Here's your sunglasses, baby!" Tyler says putting the sunglasses on Hazel before putting on his.

"Is that the Pacific Ocean or the Atlantic Ocean?" Sparrow asks out loud.

"The Pacific Ocean! The Atlantic Ocean is on the other side of the United States, where Florida and New York is." Korey explains to the boys.

"They aren't the same ocean? What makes them different?" Sparrow asks out loud.

"Their names." Archer says to Sparrow.

"That answer I don't know. We should ask someone who makes globes." Korey says with a giggle.

"The person that probably made the first globe is dead." Sparrow says playfully.

"Scientists named them and they are probably dead." Archer says as Korey laughs.

Rory is busy dumping sand into the bucket, singing a little song to herself cheerfully.

"That's still a good question, Sparrow." Korey adds, encouraging learning in places that aren't school.

"The Pacific Ocean is larger and deeper than the Atlantic Ocean, Google says," Tyler joins in, looking at his phone briefly. "Among other things like color. One's more green."

"Oooh!" Hazel says, somewhat listening.

Tyler takes Hazel to the water and they sit there, Rory crawling over to do the same. She wanted to know everything.

"Hey, Rory! You can put your feet in if you want." Tyler acknowledges her.

Rory babbles and tries to stand up in the water, at the most shallow part, and she falls down.

"That's okay! Try again!" Tyler coos, and this time, the baby doesn't lose balance as easily.

"Good job!" Hazel tells her sister, who yells in a happy reply.

Archer and Sparrow are finishing building the sandcastle now, adding seashells and sticks and seaweed.

Korey picks up a sand dollar to put on too, but Archer stops him.

"Uncle Korey, we can't put those on! They're living creatures!" Archer isn't too loud, but speaks in a telling off way.

"You are right, Archer. Let me put it back." Korey says as Archer and Sparrow finish the sandcastles.

Rory walks around as she holds Tyler's hand, keeping a close eye on the girls because the ocean can be unpredictable.

"Wook, Daddy! It's a seashell!" Hazel says as she gets excited.

"Wow! That's so pretty, Hazzy! Do you wanna keep it?" Tyler asks Hazel and Hazel nods happily.

Hazel admires the shell, liking how it feels in her hand, and also how beautiful it looked.

The tide washes up lightly, and both little girls giggle as it tickles their feet.

"Ma ma! Wah!" Rory points at the water with a grin, interested since she's never felt the waves before.

"Yes, the water touched your feet! It feels funny, doesn't it?" Tyler says to Rory.

Hazel moves her feet around, looking down at all the rocks and shells. She picks up an empty seashell and gives it to her sister, who takes it with her free hand. "Here, Rory! For you!" Hazel smiles.

"Ee eh! Oh me!" Rory is surprised but very excited too, waving the shell in her hand.

"A seashell for you! That's so nice of Hazel to get one for you!" Tyler points out.

The three of them stay for another minute, before going back to the beach towel.

"Mom! Look at the castle now! It turned out so cool!" Sparrow says when Tyler, Hazel and Rory return.

"That pretty! So cool!" Hazel repeats.

"Wow, that looks amazing, guys! We should take a picture!" Tyler agrees, and Rory insists on sitting in front of Archer while he poses for a photo.

"Rory! Silly girl, we're trying to get a picture!" Archer laughs.

Tyler manages to hold Rory back while Korey takes a few pictures of Archer and Sparrow with their sand castles.

"Rory, do you wanna join the picture now?

"Ya!" Rory says as she crawls over back to Archer and Sparrow.

Archer sits Rory in his lap and Rory smiles.

"Hazzy! Wanna sit with me?" Sparrow asks Hazel with a grin.

"Yes! I sit!" Hazel says, running over to Sparrow and sit on his lap.

"Aww! How sweet. It's a family photo here!" Korey says while he takes some pictures of all of them, smiling.

Rory doesn't look at the camera at first, but eventually gets it and smiles for Korey.

"There we go! Great!" Korey gets a few more.

The boys stand up and stretch, looking as the sun lowers. "Mom, can we get ice cream before we go home? Please?" Sparrow asks.

"Yeah, can we?" Archer tilts his head.

"Hmm.. No, sweetie. Not right now. After dinner you can have some." Tyler decides, and watches as they look a bit disappointed.

"Oh, all right. That sounds good too." Sparrow is calm, and Archer nods. They had fun anyway.

"You are a party pooper!" Korey says playfully to Tyler.

"Do you think we should get ice cream first?" Tyler asks Archer and Sparrow.

"YES!" Archer and Sparrow.

"YA ICE CRWEAM!" Hazel says as she jumps up and down.

"Aaaaa!" Rory squeals happily.

Tyler laughs, despite himself. It wasn't really a big deal, he told himself, it was nice to break a routine sometimes.

"All right, we can get ice cream before dinner. Just this once." Tyler picks up his youngest daughter. "The stand is just on the pier."

Korey gives a look to Tyler, knowing it wasn't easy to just do things like this spontaneously. He gives him a kiss.

Archer and Sparrow even help pack up all their beach things and then put it in the car. Korey helps too, and they all head to get their treat.

to be continued :)
