Special Delivery

"Dire, That letter has it been sent?"

"No...."

"Really? You need to send it.Asks one of the Leads to do it. They are the most skilled and gifted Children in the town they can handle going through that forest. Please just get it delivered"

"Yes, Divus..."

"Good, I'll be going back to the Apothecary."

With That Crewel left the room. Crowley walked to the cages of Crows. It was the easiest way to ask all of them about it without having to leave his office. He Wrote the letters and tied it to the birds before sending them off. He watched as they landed on windows of buildings. Soon they Came back. He Took all the letters reading them before he collapsed onto his chaise lounge.

"They all said no....OH WOE IS I! WHO WILL DELIVER THIS IMPORTANT LETTER BY TOMORROW!"

Knock, Knock, Knock.

Crowley straightened up.

"Yes, Do come inside."

The Door opened revealing a 8 year old boy with sIlver hair and aura Eyes carrying a mail bag and a Box.

"Mayor Crowley, The Items you ordered are here. Would you mind signing for the package white I get out your letters. You're my last stop for today."

"Of Course!"

Crowley raced over and picked up the quil from the top of the box where a paper sat. He Signed. He took the boy and watched the boy take out the letters. This was Silver, an Orphan From the Aurora Orphanage. He was a friend of all the leads and said leads friends who were equally talented mages. It is unknown if he has magic as it hasn't awakened but since he was 8 it has been assumed he doesn't have any. Despite this he is very efficient in what he does. Unlike the other children he doesn't go to school, so instead he works as a Delivery boy. Crowley looked out the Window. It was 10 AM. The Trip to the Biars where the letter He needed to send was a 7 hour trip he would be back by dinner ... .Perfect!

"Silver, Would you mind making a very special delivery for me? I Know that I was supposed to be your last step but this one is personal. It doesn't need to be reported to the Post Office."

"I-im not supposed to but you're the mayor so I imagine It would be fine...."

"I'll make sure to pay you for the delivery. Is 3 gold fine?"

"A-ah! That's too much for all my deliveries combined I only get paid 3 silver!"

"This is a trip of the utmost importance... The least I'll pay you is 30 silver."

"I Still say that's too much but ok.... I just need to stop by the post office to drop off the signatures."

"Good! Here's the Letter. Oh yes! And please take this for your trip. It will be a bit long but you should be back by Dinner!"

Crowley picked up a basket with Apples, Crackers, and Cheese. He tucked the letter into it. Silver took it graciously.

"Ill be as quick as I can."

"Good. Thank you, I'll pay you once you get back."

"Mmkay."

"Now, as for where you're going. You are taking a Trip to the Briar Valley's Capital, Malevolent."

"Isn't that a......4 month trip?"

"You're going to take a very special route. It is slightly dangerous but you'll just need to be careful"

Crowle's mouth made an O shape. He walked to his desk and Pulled out an ornate dagger, it did look sturdy though...

"I Remember Kalim said that you learned how to fight with a dagger and sword so here take this with you. For I am gracious you can keep it."

"I-Thank you Mayor Crowley. I Should Get Leaving. Do you have a map I could use?"

"Oh! Right! Here you go. Your path is marked by a pink line. Other things will be marked by different colors. It's magic so It will adjust."

Silver took the map and dagger.

"Alright. Have a good day Mayor. I'll be going."

"Yes! Yes! Be careful."

Silver Exited the office Closing the door behind him before he walked down the Halls of the Mayor's house. He Stepped outside and immediately was shoved. It wasn't new. No one like an Orphan who steals food. Its not his fault he was so hungry. THe women that ran the church didn't like him and punished him by taking away food. The most he ate was when Idia or Vil invited him over. Sometimes Kalim as well. He straightened up and walked to the post office. He placed his Signature sheet in the turn in slot and left the building.

He Pulled out the map and began to follow the pink line. His worn boots clacked against the pavement. He weaved around people, his black, torn, too thin to actually provide any warmth cape swayed around him as he moved. Soon he neared the East forest. Normally No one was allowed in but today it seems he is. He opened the gate made of swollen wood. Likely waterlogged from last night's rain shower. He stepped through the opening into a puddle that splashed under foot. He Giggled. Maybe tomorrow if it rained again tonight he could jump in puddles with Kalim or the Twins. He Closed the gate and turned.

The forest was dark as usual. It was unsettling but he swallowed and began to walk. The Forest darkened as he walked deeper. The Trees loomed. He Looked down at the map. HE was on the right path. He Pulled out the Crackers and began to eat a few. HE tightened his cloak around him. This forest was cold..

"Hoooo"

Shocked, he looked up and realized it was an Owl.

"Hi Mr.Owl do you want a cracker?"

The Owl swooped down and took the cracker.

"Hoo!"

"I'm glad you like it! Mr-I Mean Mrs.Owl."

"Hoot!"

The Owl flew off. Silver continued on his way. He Hummed a little tune as he walked through the forest. He Looked down at the map.

"Huh? What's that Red dot in front of me?"

He Looked up. A Figure stood on the path. Silver quickly Grabbed the Dagger Leaving the sheath in the basket. He Hid the blade in his cloak as he neared the thing in the road. As he got closer he noticed it had pointed ears, Dark red round eyes, An almost Snout like mouth and nose, It also had a Collar of Black and Pink fluff and bat wings that replaced its arms.. The thing also had a bob of black and pink hair. Its bat legs supported its vaguely human body.

Silver got closer and the thing spoke.

"Hello, Child. What are you doing here?"

"I-im just delivering a letter..."

"Why isn't an adult doing it?"

"The Mayor asked me in specific. Now excuse me, I need to go."

"This forest is dangerous for one with no magic."

"I-i'll be alright."

"That Little dagger will do nothing."

Silver froze.

"H-how did you..."

" I can see it through that cloak. It's almost transparent, you know."

"I-i know...."

"Why don't you have a thicker one child? Did your parents not buy you one?"

Silver's face was stoic as he put the blade away.

"I Don't have any."

"Then what of your caretaker do they not provide you with winter clothes? It is becoming chilly and you do not have fur like I."

"The orphanage workers can't afford it. Besides, I'm a big boy. With a few more weeks of work I should have enough saved for some winter clothes. Maybe I'll even have some left over to buy some Mushroom Risotto."

"Where are you going anyway? This forest isn't for non-magical humans."

"I-I need to deliver a letter. If you'll excuse me."

Silver started back on his way, the bat thing followed him.

"I Take it your going to The Briar Valley?"

"Y-yes, How did you know?"

"This is a magical forest with many paths. Depending on which you follow you will get to different parts of the world. There are even some paths that will take you to the Scalding sands in 5 minutes."

"That's actually really cool."

"I Know!"

"So, Why are you following me?"

"I can't leave a child all alone in the woods now can I. I have enough magic to protect both of us."

"I-thank you Mr..."

"Liliy, You can Call me Lily. What can I call you?"

"It's never safe to share your name with Entities of unknown origin."

The bat laughed.

"You're very smart. Very well. I'll call you Fledgeling."

"That's fine...."

"Now where are you trying to go? Maybe I know a quicker path."

"Malevolent."

"The Valley capital?"

"Yes,"

"Hmmm, Even with the path that map shows it's a long journey."

"It is? Crowley said I would be back by Dinner ...."

Silver whispered to himself.

"I was actually allowed to eat tonight...."

He missed how the bat's eyes widened.

"What was that Fledgeling?"

"Nothing-"

The Bat's stomach grumbled.

"You're hungry?"

"Yes...I fear I forgot to eat again."

Silver reached into the basket. He Pulled out the two apples inside.

"Here."

"Oh? But this is your food Fledgeling."

"It's fine, Being hungry is never fun. It makes you tired and weak...I still have some cheese anyway and crackers anyway."

"Thank you child."

"No Problem..."

The Bat bit into the apple. He ate and Silver listened to the crunch before the bat finished.

"That was quite a good snack. As thanks for the meal, I shall show you a quicker path. Follow me."

The bat grabbed Silver's Hand and dragged him the complete opposite direction of the map.

"This is the wrong way!"

"No It isn't. This forest makes no sense while that is the most obvious path to the capital through this forest there's a quicker one that will make it only a 2 hour journey their and a 2 hour Journey back instead of 3 ½ there and 31/2 back. It will give you time to play with your friends when you go back."

"Ok...But you better not trick me! I'll stab yo..." Silver fell forward. He was snoring. The bat was shocked and shook him. Silver snapped awake.

"Are you alright Fledgeling?"

"Yes...Sorry, I have sleep spells."

"It is quite alright."

Silver followed after the bat through the forest. He snacked on his cheese and crackers, sharing them with Lily. Soon they neared an opening.

"And here we are the Capital, Malevolent."

"Thank you Mr.Lily!"

"It was no problem. May I see your map?"

Silver handed it over. The Pink line leads to the castle.

"Alright, it seems you're going to the castle. If you follow this path to town you should have a straight shot to the castle. I'll wait for you to come back and lead you back home. Now, its almost lunch. I'd recommend getting yourself an actual meal. The Zigvolt bakery is pretty good and not expensive. Here"

Lilia handed him a small bag of coins.

"Go get yourself some food and a souvenir. Oh and if you see any, could you get me some tomato juice?"

"Sure....Thank you."

"Don't mention it."

Silver started down the path. It was a quick walk through the wide open gate and into the town. He walked straight down main street to the Castle. The gate was closed... He looked around for someone to help. He saw a man with Horns and black hair. He walked up to him and tugged on his coat. The man looked down.

"Oh, A Child of Man? What do you need?"

"D-do you know anyone who can take a letter into the castle for me or who can let me in?"

The man smiled, fangs on display.

"Follow me."

The man walked up to the gate and knocked on a window that was closed. A Guard opened it.

"Y-yes Sir?"

The man looked scared. The man gestured for Silver to come up. Silver shakilly walked up.

"I, uhm, I have a letter I was meant to deliver from Raven Village."

"Oh, Yes we've been waiting on it. Thank you." He took the letter from Silver and closed the window. Silver saw him run off to the castle door.

"Is that all you need help with?"

"Uh, Actually can you give me directions to the Zigvolt Bakery? Lily said I should get an actual thing to eat before I go home."

"Lily? Hmmm Yes I can give you directions. Go back the way you came but once you get to the fountain turn down Darco street. You should see it at the plaza at the end of it."

"Oh! Thank you!"

"Would you like me to walk you there?"

"If you wouldn't mind...."

Silver started to doze off but snapped awake.

"It's quite alright, I know the owners and would quite like some Ice cream from the shop next door."

The man grabbed Silver's hand and walked him down main street and to the plaza he was talking about.

"W-what should I call you? In case I ever meet you in the future."

"My Name is Malle- Mal My name is Mal."

"Oh, Thank you for the help, Mr.Mal!"

"It was my pleasure. Oh! And if you wish to get any toys or something of the sort. This Plaza has quite a few gems."

" Alright! Thank you Mr.Mal!"

Mal waved as Silver entered the building. It was empty but a piano was playing, magic was clearly used. Silver walked up to the counter.

"Hello?"

"Coming!"

From the back a tall woman appeared. He had mint hair and Scales on her face. She looked down at Silver.

"Oh, Hello Little boy. What can I get you?"

"I don't know anything you would recommend?"

"Well out Cakes and muffins are always popular but if you're looking for a meal the Salmon and Cream Cheese bagel with bacon is good."

"I'll try it. As for drinks, do you have anything?"

"We have tea, Grape Juice, Apple Juice, Tomato Juice and Coffee."

"Apple juice please. Oh! When do you close? I have someone waiting to take me home and he wanted Tomato juice but I think it would be best to get some before I leave."

"We close at 10 pm. You should have time."

'

"Alright, thank you."

"It's no problem. That will be 8 silver. My son will be out with your order soon. Please take a seat."

Silver opened the pouch Lilia handed him. It had a lot of gold and silver. He took out the needed silver and handed it to her.

"Thank you."

Silver sat down and a few minutes later a boy with mint hair that was around his age, maybe a year younger, came out and dropped his order in front of him before leaving the store. Silver payed it no mind. He just ate. The food was good and soon he finished leaving the store. He wandered around the plaza until his eyes caught on a bat plushie. He Liked it. He walked inside and bought it before going back to the Zigvolt bakery and getting tomato juice to go. Mrs.Zigvolt also gave him some water. Silver walked back to the forest entrance. Lily was waiting for him and they began their way back to Raven Village. Silver told Lily about his trip. Lily chimed in evry so often and soon they were back.

"Thank you Lily-"

"Silver, where are you!"

A voice yelled from a distance.

"Oh! Kalim wants me. I need to go! Thank you! I Hope to see you again.Oh wait your money! Here!"

Silver solved it in Lily's hands and ran off.

"Silver.... That's a wonderful name."

Silver ran to the plaza where Kalim was waiting.

"There you are!"

"Sorry, Mayor Crowley needed me to do a special delivery. Speaking of which I need to collect my payment."

"Oh! I'll come!"

"Ok" The two set off to Crowley's house

"Oh! Hello Silver."

It was Vil, Idia hiding behind him.

"Hello Vil and Idia."

Silver smiled.

"Hello Dear. Oh, Is that a new plush?"

"Yeah, It was a....Gift."

"That's nice. It's cute."

Idia whispered.

" I need to go and collect payment for a job. I'll be back with Kalim in a few minutes!"

"O-ok!"

"Very well."

Silver and Kalim ran off to the Mayor's house. They knocked and Mr.Crewel opened the door.

"Oh? Hello Puppies, what do you need?"

"I need to talk to the mayor. Its nothing bad! Promise!"

Silver said.

"Alright."

The two ran off through the door to Crowley's office. Silver knocked before entering.

"Ah! Silver your back, sooner than expected! Did you deliver the letter?"

"Yeah, I ran real fast so I was quick!"

"That's wonderful."

"Oh! HEres your basket, Map and Dagger! Sorry I finished all the food, I saw a few animals that were hungry ...."

"You and your animals, I see you play with them in the plaza every day... Its quite alright. Would you mind if I call on you to deliver Deliveries to the same place in the future."

"With payment right?"

"With payment. Your next delivery will likely be next week. Same day, same time."

"Of course!"

"Alright, Here's your 30 silver."

Silver took the coins and put them in his coin pouch.

"Thank you!"

Crowley smiled as they ran out the room.

These deliveries continued and Silver would see Lily and Lily's friend Drachenprinz until 2 months later.

Lily and Drachenprinz walked through the woods. Lily's Fledgling and Drachenprinz's Treasure haven't appeared for two weeks. THey paused when they heard crying. It sounded like their little human. They ran to the sound. There sat Silver crying with a cut on his arm.

"Treasure what happened?"

Drachenprinz kneeled.

"I-i got in trouble...."

"With Who Dear?" Lily asked.

" Mr. Blaze...The Leaders, their friends,Their families, Crewel, Crowley, Vargas, Sam, and Treinare on a trip and I had to take on the leaders and my friends' jobs and I messed up on stacking the books so Mr.Blaze Hit me."

"Oh Dear..."

Drachenprinz and Lily had a silent conversation before nodding

"Would you like to come with us Fledgeling?"

"I-i cant! If they found me I would be in trouble! They already Have a public punishment picked out for all my mistakes for the past 2 weeks and it's happening tomorrow night!"

"I- alright Fledgeling, well take a rain check on the proposal. But please at least eat something."

Lily pulled out a fruit and handed it to Silver who graciously accepted and ate. He nodded at Malleus.

" It's sweet ... .Thank you."

"Now can We bandage that cut?"

Silver nodded. Silver nodded off as they bandaged him.

"Lilia. That fruit."

"Yes, With that fruit he is ours. We'll retrieve him during his punishment. Instead the Town will be punished. The only good ones aren't there; we can slaughter them."

"Wonderful."

Malleus grinned cruelly. He switched to his actual form. Such an Eldritch form was tiring to keep up.

"I Need to go to the castle, a meeting is happening."

"Yes, Yes I understand. I'll wake him up and then go to the castle."

"Good."

Malleus teleported away.

"Fledgling, its time to wake up."

Silver woke up and went back to the Village orphanage. It was bedtime anyway.. The next day was chaotic for him more and more work piled on. That night it was time for punishment. Silver was dragged to the town center where he was put in front of Blaze.

"I hope you understand why were doing this."

"Y-yes si-"

Blaze punched his cheek. His Ring Cut it deep. He reached up and touched it. Blaze ran forward and Silver braced himself but instead he heard a scream.

He opened his eyes. Lily stood there with a giant green cleaver like blade in hand. Blaze's head rolled. Silver looked at the head. Instead of fear he felt numb and morbidly curious. He crawled closer to it and picked it. He Placed it in his lap and pressed his thumbs into his eyes. He squished. That was fun....

More screams sounded as Drachenprinz joined and Silver watched the two slaughter. The delicious scent of Iron flooded his senses as he dissociated.

He doesn't remember what happened next but he knew that he loved it..
