Now Sing... Said the Benevolent Witch

This wasn't how things were supposed to be. WHy did it have to turn out this way? Kalim thought as his mind rewinded back to a few days prior.

It was winter break and for reasons he couldn't remember he was having a training camp for Scarabia. In All honesty he would rather be back home than at the school even if he was more likely to get murdered there. Currently he was having the students march through the desert. Jamil was making sure no one fell behind. What a wonderful friend Jamil was!

CLOMP CLOMP CLOMP!

The rumble of his elephant's feet against the ground was comforting. The sand shifted. Kalim looked back at everyone making sure they were ok. It was rare for him to do that these days; it was like something always stopped him.

Kalim hummed a small tune before he turned his head. They neared the oasis. Kalim smiled and had his pen at the ready. Once they arrived he admits he got a bit side tracked but his attention was brought back my Grim.

"Its so hot...." Grim Whined.

"Yup.." Yuu agreed.

"Make sure to stay hydrated," Jamil said as he handed the beach a bladder of water.

The other dorm members also mumbled about it being hot and Kalim finally came back to reality. He signed for the Elephant to lay down and he got off before walking over.

"I Got you all covered!"

"Hmmm? What are you going to do?" Yuu asked.

"Respite in the scalding sands, a never ending party. Dance! Sing! Oasis Maker!"

Rain started to fall from the sky. Grim and Yuu watched in amazement and the other students cheered as they cooled down. Kalim smiled in a fond way. Before walking back to his elephant and climbing on.

"Alright everyone! Back to Scarabia!"

The students groaned but fell in line. They started on their way back. New bladers filled with water in hand as well as parasols. Kalim lightly bounced up and down from the vibrations of the elephants walking. It was like a rollercoaster ride but more tame. He Hummed and watched the horizon as the small dot that was once Scarabia grew in size. Soon they finally reached the dorm and everyone went inside. It was time for lunch. Kalim followed them going to his seat. Jamil disappeared into the kitchen. Once Kalim tried to help him bring food out but he said no and shoved Kalim out of the kitchen. Kalim never tried again. He hated when Jamil was upset.

Soon Jamil came back out trays upon trays floating behind him. All the food was set down including Kalim's.

"Here." Jamil said as he handed Kalim a Coconut water.

"Ah! Thank you Jamil!"

Jamil went to go sit down. Kalim happily looked around the room as he ate. Kalim listened into the conversation. He started a conversation with Yuu and Grim before they excused themselves. Jamil tapped Kalim's shoulder. Kalim looked at him.

Right in the EYES

Jamil Whispered as they locked eyes.

"The one reflected in your eyes is your master. If I ask, you shall answer me; if I command it, you shall bow to me. Snake Whisper."

Kalim fell asleep. He's been doing that a lot lately. When he came to it was already night. He went back to his room and went to bed.

He woke up the next morning and the routine repeated but this time at the very beginning of the Day Yuu had come back to the dorm with Azul, Floys and Jade in tow. Carpet was also there. The Octivinelle boys decided to Join them. Of course Kalim said yes! The more the merrier.

Azul Floyd and Jade were now staying over. They were fun guests! Everything was going well. Until Jade and Floys dragged him over to hear Azul and Jamil talking about everything and how Jamil took control over Kalim and why. Kalim stumbled out.

"You're kidding right Jamil! Y-you're my best friend you wouldn't betray me! You're lying right."

"No Kalim. That's the truth, I hate you."

Kalim couldn't remember what else happened but he does remember that Jamil overbloted.

Now he was sailing through the air. The Sand looked hard instead of Pillowy like normal. The dorm was now a speck in the distance and the temperature dropped.

They sailed and Sailed through the air til they Finally started to fall. The sky was gray. Thy were at the end of Scarabia's pocket dimension. He saw the others: Yuu, Azul, Jade, and Floyd fall with him and Finally they made impact as did him, But.....He made contacts, not with sand, but with Rock. Sharp protruding rock. He Looked down at his stomach. One of the portrudions had pierced All the way through his Abdomen.

"Are you all alright!?" Yuu exclaimed.

"Yes, I'm alright..." Azul grumbled.

"I'm Quite alright." Jade said.

"Yuppers!"

"A-zul...Y–uu...."Kalim breathed out.

"Yes Kali-eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

Yuu froze and color drained from their face

Azul turned as did the twins.

"S-sea Otter!?"

"Kalim...."

"K-k-k Kalim."

Azul Rushed forward and pulled out his pen trying to stabilize the wound; he shouldn't remove Kalim from the spike. Blood Dripped down the sharp and jagged rock.

"Shit. We need to get him to the Infirmary, Or somewhere that can help him!" Yuu exclaimed.

Jade and Floyd Nodded.

"Can't..... Too far..... Jamil..... Lock Down."

Kalim struggled out the words.

"H-he's Right we can't save him in time. Jamil also locked down the dimension."

Azul looked down, his eyes watering. Kalim was one of the closest relationships he had to a friendship.

"Save.....J-jamil."

"Kalim he's also to far...." Yuu said.

"N-no. He.... not." Kalim shakily pointed to a dried up river.

"Kalim....There's no water." Jade said softly.

"O....ais.....M....er"

Rains started to pour and the river filled.

"F-fine well go save him but Im staying with you."

Azul looked at Jade and Floyd.

"You three go and save Jamil. I-i don't want Kalim to be alone for this."

They reluctantly nodded and the twins shifted carrying Jamil off.

"So Kalim. It's just us.... Any requests. Free of charge."

"S-sing."

Azul was shocked but smiled and nodded. Azul sang in a quiet, almost Silent voice. Almost like it was a Lullaby.

" admit that, in the past, I've been a nasty

They weren't kidding when they called me, well, a witch

But you'll find that nowadays

I've mended all my ways

Repented, seen the light, and made a switch...."

"True? Yes"

"And I fortunately know a little magic

It's a talent that I always have possessed

And here lately, please don't laugh

I use it on behalf of the miserable, lonely, and depressed"

"Pathetic."

"Poor unfortunate souls

In pain, in need

This one longing to be thinner

That one wants to get the girl

And do I help them? Yes, indeed

Those poor unfortunate souls

So sad, so true

They come flocking to my cauldron

Crying, "Spells, Ursula, please!"

And I help them! Yes, I do

Now, it's happened once or twice

Someone couldn't pay the price

And I'm afraid I had to rake 'em 'cross the coals

Yes, I've had the odd complaint

But on the whole, I've been a saint

To those poor unfortunate souls"

Azul Hummed a small tune he couldn't bring himself to speak the spoken parts. Kalim blearly smiled at him and His eyes Drooped.

"The men up there don't like a lot of blabber

They think a girl who gossips is a bore

Yes, on land it's much preferred

For ladies not to say a word

And after all, dear, what is idle prattle for?

Come on, they're not all that impressed with conversation

True gentlemen avoid it when they can

But they dote and swoon and fawn

On a lady who's withdrawn

It's she who holds her tongue who gets a man

Come on, you poor unfortunate soul

Go ahead, make your choice!

I'm a very busy woman

And I haven't got all day

It won't cost much

Just your voice!

You poor unfortunate soul

It's sad, but true

If you want to cross a bridge, my sweet

You've got to pay the toll

Take a gulp and take a breath

And go ahead and sign the scroll!

Flotsam, Jetsam, now I've got her, boys!

The boss is on a roll!

This poor unfortunate soul

Beluga, sevruga

Come winds of the Caspian Sea

Larengix glaucitis

Et max laryngitis

La voce to me"

Kalim Closed his eyes and his chest no longer moved.

Azul let the tears roll as he spoke.

"Now Sing...."

He could almost hear Kalim singing a random tune in response but it didn't happen.

Azul shakily breathed and took off his coat, laying it down. He gently Pulled Kalim off the pike and wrapped him in the coat.

He walked to the still full river and shifted to his octopus form. Kalim in his arms. He was a slow swimmer but he swallowed and swam the fastest he could back to the dorm building.

As he stepped foot into the dorm he could hear that the fighting which could be heard from over a mile away had died down. Now they were talking with a still in shock Jamil.

"W-where's Kalim. If something Happened to him I'd be in so much trouble. And so would my little sister. We would be killed. My entire family would."

"About that-"

Azul walked in.

"Well then you better write your obituary or I will."

Azul's Eyes were red and puffy as he laid Kalim down on some Pillows. Color drained from Jamil's face.

"I-is he?"

"Dead? Yes he is. After that little tantrum of yours we went flying there were sharp rocks where we landed and well...."

"Im Gonna Die....I'm Gonna Die....I DON"T WANT TO DIE! I DON"T WANT TO DIE!"

Jamil freaked out but Azul paid no mind. He Simply picked up Kalim and walked out the door. He had a Child and Son to return. He Also had a letter with condolences to write, and Flowers to order for a funeral.

Lilies will be perfect.
