6 months later...
*Luke's P.O.V*
"Guys, don't forget we need to set the clothing for MTV Music Awards at 6:30" Ashton reminds us as we leave the studio. Michael puffs, shaking his head.
"This is stupid, I never like any of those things they tell me to wear"
"Me neither" I admit.
Calum grins.
"At least we're paid to wear stuff so it's all good. I can buy new dogs."
"You're seriously sick, man"
I press the home button of my phone to check the time.
"Crap, it's 4:30 already" I raise my eyebrows. "I need to be at the airport in half an hour. Ugh, I'm all sweaty, I can't even take a shower"
"Don't worry about it, dude, it's good that she sees you at your best and worst" Ashton chuckles. "Anyhow, see you guys at 8 then? The Nice Guy?"
"Yeah. I'm going now"
I drive straight to the airport, excited for 30 minutes from now. Since Jeff took a break - a fortnight break - I ask Dave to wait for me there, just so my manager doesn't kill me for "going out alone". Yeah, I guess I'll be 8 forever in their heads; some things you just cannot change.
I park my car and hop out, adjusting the sunglasses. I'm not stupid to think there are no paparazzi around, but as long as they stay away I don't give a single fuck about them.
I expected to meet some fans at the lobby, but that doesn't disturb me at all: I love talking to them, taking pictures and autographing. There was a point in my career, though, in which I found it extremely annoying, maybe I was a little blinded by fame, but I guess it happens to us all. The good news is that these past 2 years have been essentials to get me back to a lot of what I used to be, so now, how could I ever turn my back on a fan when I met an incredible one that turned my world upside down?
I get a coffee, stomping while time seems to drag itself. I check the arrivals board looking for a certain American Airlines flight, and a smile crosses my face when I spot the word "Landed" right next to it. The wait is painful until the first passenger finally steps outside the door with his bags. After him a dozen more, but none of them is who I'm waiting for.
She's one of the last passengers to leave the luggage belt, clumsily walking towards her door, a bag on her back and another one being pulled. Her wavy dirty blonde hair - now a little shorter, since she recently got a new haircut - gently cascades over her shoulders. She's wearing glasses, somehow a miracle, a casual baseball tee, jeans and her old black Chuck Taylors. There's a book in her hands. She doesn't see me at first, while I'm admiring her. Looking from side to side, her eyes take some time to lay on me, but when they do she cracks that bright smile of hers and I walk towards her, with an equally big one spread on my face.
"Hi there" Laurel hugs me tight, kissing my cheek. "I'm so glad you came on time!"
"I told you I would." I smile confidently at her, taking her suitcase. "How are you?"
"I'm good, I guess." Dave greets her and she smiles at him, probably a little awkward due to their last encounter in LA. "They offered apple juice, instantly thought of you!"
I chuckle.
"I can't decide whether that's a good thing or a bad one"
"Depends on your point of view" She shrugs. "But that juice tastes awful"
Laurel nudges me and I mess her hair with a grimace.
"I've missed you" I tell her when we get to the car, now only the both of us since Dave wanted to go home by himself. "What are the big news you wanted to share with me?"
Laurel presses her lips to suppress a grin. She looks suspiciously at me and squeaks before speaking up:
"Guess who's graduating next month?"
I raise my eyebrows, turning on the engine.
"Already? Wow, that's awesome! Congratulations, dude!"
"Thanks, man" She giggles. "Ugh, I'm so excited! And I want you to be there, it's on the 17th. Do you think you can make it?"
"Lucky for you my schedule isn't that busy this September" I joke. "So I'll be there."
"Great! And that's not even the best part, I'm also..."
The radio stops when I get a call from Michael.
"What's up Mikey"
"Hey, Luke, have you picked Laurel up yet?"
"Hi Michael" She replies.
"Laurel! Hi gorgeous! How was the flight?"
"It was good, thanks, except for the juice"
"American?"
"Yup"
"Feel sorry for you"
"We're leaving the airport now to get ready to meet up. Are you taking Ivy with you?" I get in the middle.
"Nah, she's busy today with work. Ashton is taking Bryana though."
"Good, I miss her" Laurel smiles.
"Okay, I just wanted to make sure you had her. See you in a few Luke"
"See you, bro"
I drive slowly, trying to ignore the knot forming in my stomach as we approach my place.
Like white on rice, she hems when I turn left on my street.
"Uh, Luke? I'm pretty sure my hotel is that way..." She points to the opposite side, but I shake my head.
"You're not staying at a hotel, I won't let you waste money on that shit for 10 days. No, you're staying with me."
Laurel resists for some time but ends up giving in when I tell her I adopted a cat. She looks suspiciously at me but quickly opens the front door and runs inside, inspecting the environment.
"Where's the cat? That's why I've signed up" She inquired. I laugh at her disappointed expression and touch the tip of her nose.
"Not today, cat lady. Maybe when I turn 70"
She groans, dragging her suitcase upstairs. I follow her closely, excited for having her back. Laurel goes straight to one of the guest rooms, which upsets me a little, even though I knew she would.
Throwing her bag on top of the bed she allows her body to do the same, letting out a relieved sigh when her skin touches the soft surface.
"Ugh, comfy" She moans, closing her eyes. "It's been so long since I last laid in one of these. I forgot how great being rich is."
I roll my eyes.
"Stop it, will you? Now, it's 5:45. We are supposed to meet everyone at The Nice Guy by 8"
"There's plenty of time"
"Yeah but I actually wanted you to go somewhere with me..."
Laurel raises her eyebrows.
"Where am I going?"
I leave her hanging as I quickly take a shower. When I'm back she's on the same position in bed, holding her phone above her head.
"That was not polite, Lewi" She frowns.
"I don't care." I tell her with a grimace. "I need to pick up some clothes and I was hoping you could help me out" I shrug, glancing at her. She chuckles.
"You never trusted my judgement for clothing"
"I want to change that. So, what do you say?"
Laurel considers for a few moments, but then yanks off bed and places her hands on her waist.
"I'm the guest, am I not? Therefore I should follow you. Let's go"

Guys, I started a new book, it's called Blurred Lines and it's a Michael Clifford au. It's got only one chapter so far and it would mean the world to me if you could check it out and give it as much love as you give to Two Worlds. So please do it! After this book is done that's the one I'm focusing on so it's very important for me to know what my readers think!
Stay beautiful 💗 xo
