a/n: another song with the chapter!!

*Luke's P.O.V*

"So, let me see if I got this straight." Michael narrows his eyebrows. "You hooked up with Laurel and you want to see her again, but Amanda is a problem because she would never leave you alone with her after today."

"That's accurate." I nod.

"...and now for you to get to meet Laurel again you want me to keep her busy?"

"I was hoping you could help me out at this, mate."

"You know we don't get along, Luke! We never did!"

"You were the one who made me invite her to come, remember?" I frown. "You wanted to prove I got a thing for Laurel but you didn't include me doing something about it on your plans when you decided about that bet. I can't simply leave her here."

"Now I truly regret it" Michael massages his temples. "There must be another way, I can't stand her when you're with us, can you imagine if we were alone? Thank goodness we hung out with Austin yesterday."

"What do you suggest then?" I fold my arms and roll my eyes for the mention of the guy's name.

"We tell her we are going to the mall."

"I've considered this already. Not working. Dozens of fans might show up."

"Exactly." He grins.

"Good morning, Amanda. I was thinking about going to the mall today. What do you say?" I ask her, kissing her cheek when we go down the restaurant of the hotel to have breakfast.

"With Laurel?" She mocks.

"Actually um, Laurel had things to do for school, so she won't be able to come. I thought we could go like, just me, you..."

"... and me!" Michael shows up and A grunts.

"What would we do there?"

"Shopping" I shrug. "I know how much you love fashion."

"Are you sure about this?" She raises her eyebrows.

"Yeah, Michael wanted to buy a few socks as well."

She stares at us for a couple seconds but then shrugs, smiling.

"All right."

We head back to our rooms to take a shower and get dressed, but before leaving Michael and I talk to Ashton for a few minutes.

"You should be here with us!" I tell him, selecting the loudspeaker so Michael could hear the conversation.

"I also think so, dude, but I'm pissed off with the whole rental thing." Ashton complains. "How's the trip? How is A doing?"

"She's on her moody ways, as always." Michael hisses and I roll my eyes. "But she's doing fine, I guess. We're going to the mall today."

"To the mall? Without bodyguards? Guys, are you mad? What about paps and fans?"

"To be completely honest with you, seems like they haven't found out we're here yet" I reply. "We're staying inside Laurel's apartment most of the time, and when we hang out we are barely stopped by fans."

By this moment someone calls for Ashton's name.

"What's up guys! How's everything?" Calum asks us.

"All good."

"They are going to the mall without bodyguards." Ashton lets him know and Calum grins.

"They're not insane."

"Actually we are" Michael chuckles. "But don't worry, we've got a plan. Luke wants to hang out with Laurel. Alone. And A is on the way. We're going to distract her."

"Luke, you want to go out with Laurel alone? What is that supposed to mean? Are you guys hooking up?" Calum asks.

"It wasn't meant to be shared with you guys right now," I clench my jaw and glance at Michael. "but since there's a blabbermouth among us, then yeah."

"You better be taking extra care, Luke" Ashton speaks. "I don't want you to have an argument with A that could lead into another fight, nor paparazzi asking who the new girl is. You know they would harass her for as long as you guys are close."

"I know that" I roll my eyes. "Still, don't worry, we'll be careful. Michael is helping me out."

"You won't quit her, will you Luke?" Calum laughs. "I just hope she's worth the risk."

"I hope so too" I confess.

                                 •••

Michael drives us to the mall. I'm on the passenger seat and A is on the back, talking to a friend on the phone. When we arrive Michael parks the car and we hop out. A walks towards the stores and points at things she likes, asking what we think. To be honest, ladies, know something: dudes usually don't really understand when you talk about fashion, shoes matching with dresses and stuff like that.

I tell her I'm going with Michael to buy his socks and we split up. About 5 minutes later a girl stops by and asks us if we are Luke Hemmings and Michael Clifford. After her there are two more girls and before I even realize it, we are surrounded by fans. The guards inside the mall itself guide us to the exit, just like we knew they would, so I call A to explain we have to leave.

"Wait for me, I'm on my way" she speaks and I hurry to stop her.

"You don't have to come. Finish your shopping. Buy me a t-shirt as well; you choose."

"But I'm in trouble with uber, can't call them to go back to the hotel!"

"Call us, we come pick you up when you're finished." I tell her. She huffs but agrees, and when she hangs up I realize Laurel texted me 10 minutes ago.

Just got home

So Michael drives me to Laurel's.

"Thanks for the ride, man" I tell him with a fist bump. "Don't you want to come in?"

"Nah. Enjoy your privacy with her." He grins. "Call me when A texts so we can pick her up."

I hop out of the car and run upstairs until apartment 6. I knock on the door and as soon as Laurel opens it, I attach my lips to hers, clumsily slamming the door once I'm on the inside. She pulls away, seeking for air.

"That was unexpected." She beams and I kiss the tip of her nose, smirking.

"That was the intention."

She grabs my hand and guides me inside her place to her bed. I gently lay her down and hover over her, running my hands through her sides. When I'm about to go further we hear a loud noise coming from outside and Laurel jumps, scared.

"Shit." She curses, taking a deep breath to ease her heartbeats. "I hate it when this happens."

"Is it a common thing?" I ask her, amused.

"Yeah. Just stupid college guys blowing up some sort of bomb around campus to scare newbies." She rolls her eyes and gently pushes me so she could stand up. "I need water. Do you want anything?"

"Beer, please."

She nods and walks to her kitchen. I look around her room; a few portraits with photos of people I don't know and one with Megan. There's this photo of baby Laurel, I assume, and she looks extremely cute. There are also band posters on the wall: Oasis, AC DC, Queen, Coldplay and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

"I see that our musical taste look alike" I tell her when she hands me the beer. "Bon Scott or Brian Johnson?"

"Is that even a question?" She rolls her eyes. "Brian, obviously."

"You didn't say that!" My jaw playfully drops. "How dare you!"

She laughs.

"If only my father was here... He would give a speech about how mad you are for choosing Brian over Bon." I wink at her. "Hey, uh... Can I see your playlist on Spotify?"

"Sure... But why exactly?" She raises one of her eyebrows and I shrug.

"You can tell a lot about a person by what's on their playlists."

She grabs her phone and plugs it on her small black stereo. There is not one single song I don't like on her playlist.

"Do you like Whatever?" She asks me.

"What are you even talking about, this song is incredible!" I hold her hand as I speak. I scroll through her playlist and hit it. She knows all the lyrics and we sing together, making weird faces. She grabs a hairbrush and pretends it's a microphone. I grab her waist and spin her in the air as the song is still playing. When it's over we are sweating a little and Champagne Supernova begins right away.

"Oh man... I love this song."

Laurel leans her head back, with her eyes closed. She takes a deep breath and a smile forms in her face as she starts humming the lyrics.

"How many special people change, how many lives are living strange? Where were you while we were getting high?"

I come closer to her and grab her hand, placing small kisses before singing the next verse.

"Slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannon ball. Where were you while we were getting high?"

She looks deep into my eyes and I grab her waist, pulling her closer. So we sing the next part of the song together.

"Someday you will find me caught beneath the landslide in a champagne supernova in the sky. Someday you will find me caught beneath the landslide in a champagne supernova, a champagne supernova in the sky."

I wrap my fingers on hers and she places her free hand on my chest. Before I realize it we are slow dancing at the sound of Oasis. For great part of the song we are gazing into each other's eyes, not saying a single word. The only voice is Noel Gallagher's. In this moment I feel my whole body shivering. Her touch feels right above my skin, and looking in her hazel eyes makes me forget about everything but the pace our feet are synchronously moving.

I pull away and extend my arm raising it up; I spin Laurel around and once more, but this time I'm facing her back. I cross my arms above her stomach and rub my nose on her neck and on the skin behind her ear. She leans her head backwards again and it rests on the junction between my neck and shoulders. With my left hand I grab her right one and pull it. Laurel spins one more time so now I'm facing her side and she graciously lifts her left arm. I pull her hand and she comes back to me, twisting until my chest touches her back once more; her arms are crossed on her chest and I'm holding both her hands. I'm breathing heavily, enjoying how great she smells. When her head is back in my chest I realize she closed her eyes, allowing herself to enjoy all the sensations that moment was providing. I spin her around again so now she is facing me and her left cheek is against my chest. My hands are clasped around her back and I rest my chin on the top of her head, allowing myself to close my eyes for a moment as well. It sounds cheesy, probably because it actually is, but still: what a feeling.

By the end of the song she goes on her tiptoes, wrap her arms around my neck and places a slow, yet passionate kiss on my lips. I hold her by the waist with both my arms, closing any gap between us. This kiss is even better than yesterday's.

When she pulls away she looks me in the eyes and smiles fondly.

"How do you manage to be this amazing?" Laurel asks me, running her fingers through my hair.

"I was born Aussie. We are all amazing." I wink at her and she grins.

"Amazing and full of yourself, yay, it's a bonus!"

I laugh and she lets go of me, heading to the stereo to choose another song. Tell Me Baby, by RHCP. She small dances while heading to the kitchen carrying my empty bottle and I follow her, singing along.

"Ugh, Luke, stop it!" She grunts, frustrated. "Your voice is too good for this world!"

Wow. I blush.

"Why thank you, milady." I tickle her from behind and she squeaks.

After she throws away the bottle and drinks another glass of water we go to her room and she gets Netflix so we could watch How I Met Your Mother. I'm not sure whether she truly enjoys it or is only watching because she knows I love it, though. Either way it doesn't matter, we spend most of the time making out instead of watching the show anyway.

"Oh no! I've missed what Barney just said!" She huffs while I kiss different spots of her neck.

"Surely something related to women." I say against her skin, making her shiver. "We can watch it again later."

She turns to me and raises one eyebrow; I crack a devilish grin.

"You are one little perv." She gasps and I wink at her.

"And you love it."

"Granted." She chuckles, and kisses me again.
