Chapter 6: ...what?
Everyone sat separate from each other in the party area. Decorations and treats were crumbled and splattered around the floor. Chairs and tables were on their sides. Rainbow Dash held onto the Treebrary roots that hung from the ceiling. Rarity cowered behind a flipped table. Fluttershy's eyes welled up with tears. Pinkie Pie could barely contain her hysterical and scared laughter. Applejack chewed her hooves nervously.
"I'm bored," Tom said for the umpteenth time.
"W-we get it. You don't have to say it a million times," Matt growled, trying to hide his shock. Rarity stood up from hiding, and said, "well, Tom, it was... a pleasure, to get to know you and your friends a little more. But I believe I should return home for the night. I need to make sure my sister hasn't messed up any of my big projects." She began trotting into the hall, then out the giant doors, shutting them delicately.
Rainbow Dash came down from the ceiling and yelled, "was that necessary!?"
"What?" Tom scoffed, "there's nothing wrong with having fun!"
"That wasn't fun," Fluttershy argued, voice quivering, "that was just a bunch of fighting! You almost hurt Rarity when you flipped that table!"
"Well, Pinkie Pie tried to blind me by throwing frosting in my face!" Tom shouted in reply. Pinkie Pie then squealed, half laughing, half screeching like a hyena, and galloped outside, following Rarity.
Rainbow Dash continued on with the argument. "Look, before we guide you through what we need you guys to help us with, you need to get to know the place better! And what do you think immaturity is gonna do to help!?" Applejack stood and glared at her friend.
"Like you've never make a stupid choice in yer entire life, Rainbow! As far as Ah know, all you've done to help stop these shenanigans is by deciding to add to the fight!" Rainbow Dash turned to look at Applejack, taken aback by what she didn't think was the truth.
"It wasn't deciding to get involved! I was trying to STOP them! And what were YOU doing? Deciding to NOT do anything to stop?"
"Oh, please! It's not like--"
"SHUT IT ALREADY!!" Matt yelled over the raucous. Everyone was silent for a few seconds before Applejack sighed, "yeah. We should all just tone down a notch. Besides, what good will arguing do to help?" Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy nodded in agreement.
"This place still sucks," Tom whispered.
"Shut up," Matt growled, pinning his ears back. It had been a crazy enough day for everyone.
There were hoofsteps coming from the hallway. There was Edd, wild-eyed and trembling. Tom's ears perked up with curiosity. What had his friend been up to? Edd sucked in a deep breath, then said, "w-well, I learned something new today. Magic scares the shit out of me!"
"Why? What happened?" Matt asked.
Edd gritted his teeth. Is the magic driving him insane? Tom thought.
"Well," Edd began, "Princess Twilight experiments with what I call illegal magic. Dark Magic. Then she finds I'm stooping around like an idiot. Aaaaannnd gets agitated. Before I know it, I'm seeing blood and giant dragons and destroyed homes and holocaust and I feel so terrified it's like not even art therapy can't do anything to help!"
Applejack tipped her head to the side. "What?" She questioned.
Edd glared at Applejack. "...Didn't I see you a while ago with Twilight?" He asked.
Appleack shrugged. "Probably Pinkie and her silly little tricks. She tends to get a bit carried away with her funny ideas," she explained. Applejack seemed right. A few seconds later, the Applejack that Edd saw earlier came trotting in, then looked at the other. "Pinkie Pie, stop it," she said. The other Applejack shrugged, then grabbed a zipper at the top of her hat, and unzipped it. Sure enough, Pinkie Pie was in disguise. She hopped out of the costume and said, "fine, you got me. Who's ready for some more FUN?"
Edd made a smug look.
We appreciate the help, but seriously, we really need to-- holy crap that disguise is just... Tom glanced at the strange costume thing in disgust. How does someone even do that?
Edd growled in frustration, "I can't help it. I need to think about that weird thing I saw." He trotted outside as well, leaving his friends behind. As the doors closed, the hoofsteps quickly sped up and grew distant.
...
"Okay... What now?"
